ribeiro, dimitrakos & umburger to the wings?
Fingercots replied to The Elite Wings's topic in General
what about that trade involving gagne, ribeiro, souray, etc have to do with the wings? what are the wings giving up? am i missing something? -
ive noticed a lot of maltby bashing here. i dont think its a coincidence that he just had a dismal season as far as offensive production is concerned. grinders like maltby, draper (and mccarty back in the day) are not on the team so they can put up points. they are around to work hard and do what it takes to put the team in a position to win. sure, every now and again these guys come up with huge goals, especially in the playoffs, and sometimes they even have impressive offensive stats for an entire season. but just because maltby is getting older and didnt have many points last year doesnt mean they should just dump him. who knows, maybe he will surprise people with his numbers this year.

isnt this an annual occurance? im pretty sure ive seen threads about whether the wings should try to get antropov every off season since hes been in the NHL. if the wings can get him for a 3rd rounder, i think its worth it. but anything more than that and it wont be a good deal. frankly, i dont think this is going to happen.
-
why would the wings make this trade? sure, we need a good goalie but is it worth trading two franchise players? i dont think so
-
oh no, not candy. anybody but the swiss miss.

Anson Carter A Leaf ( Not Sure If Its Rumour Or Not)
Fingercots replied to KrazyGangsta's topic in General
come on guys, we all know that eklund speaks the truth. i mean, he did predict that we would sign brendan shanahan and then trade him for giguere... uh, oh nevermind. -
ok, so one of the rumors is that the canadians want to trade for robert lang, who would they be sending our way? i wouldnt mind some of their younger guys, like ryder or ribiero. i just wonder if the swiss miss is involved in these discussions.
-
we most certainly dont have the money to steal gaborik away from minnesota but regardless, i dont think that you can compare lang and gaborik. atleast gaborik kills penalties, hes got 2 shorthanded goals this season.
-
penner is good. i dont know who their top 10 prospects are, maybe perry, getzlaf and those guys are still considered "prospects" but penner is huge and he has played well for a rookie in every game ive watched.
-
please god, dont let carolina get brian mccabe. the canes are looking pretty solid nowadays, i really dont want them to get mccabe while hes playing the best hockey of his career.
-
i think someone like penner or artyukhin would be great for the wings. they are young and HUGE. even if they dont pan out, id say they are worth a shot. and from what ive seen of them, they each look like they could develop into good players.
-
i might do legace for brodeur straight up but theres no way zetterberg could be part of that deal. brodeur isnt the same goalie he used to be and who knows whether legace will continue to improve.

3 Way Deal Involving The Wings, Bolts, and Ducks
Fingercots replied to e_mcgrath88's topic in General
this trade would be horrible for the wings. i cant imagine any GM thinking this would be a good deal for detroit. the whole issue is that we are now short a defenseman. i would rather have kyle quincey play for the wings for the rest of the season than trade manny legace for a defenseman. -
IF YOUR WHERE OFFERED THIS TRADE WOULD YOU TAKE IT

let me first say that i dont think the wings should trade datsyuk or zetterberg right now. but.... eric staal is nasty. i dont even want to discuss the points hes putting up, lets just talk about his size. hes 6'3" 200lb and hes only 21! how big was bertuzzi at age 21? staal could develop into one of the most lethal power forwards ever. just imagine that he continues to gain muscle and his skills continue to improve. at age 25 he might be 6'3" and 225lb, with better skills than he has now! he could go down as an all time great. -
maybe they want niinimaa to join the practice squad so the wings can practice a toe drag, between his legs, deke and score on the goalie.
-
haha, are you referring to their indiscretions in sweden? but back to the point, huselius has talent but he has NEVER played up to his potential for long periods of time. he'll go on a tear for a week and then not show up for a month. who wants that kind of player?
-
i really dont understand why everyone keeps saying that hudler is too small for the nhl. with the game opening up a bit this season, i think his size wont be a big issue. also, brian gionta is smaller than hudler (gionta is listed as 5'7" but i used to see him on the campus of boston college and he looked shorter than that) and gionta has done well in his career. gionta has 10 points so far this season, a lot more than some larger players have. of course there will be some adjustment once hudler gets to the nhl but i dont think he'll be a bust.

i would like to get ryan smyth for datsyuk but eklund is reporting smyth just signed a 2 year, $7mil deal. if this is true, would the wings still be able to swing a deal like this?
-
i think this trade pales in comparison to getting smyth and a high pick or maybe raffi torres for datsyuk. who knows what will really happen. but i was just looking at the thrashers roster and if they can figure out the goalie situation, or if lehtonen plays well this season, they are going to be dangerous.

as long as this ensures that zetterberg stays, id do it.

on spectors site he has a blurb about the penguins trying to sign vincent damphousse and that they arent close to deals with milan kraft and ryan malone. it seems to me like the pens might have gone a little crazy with all these FA signings and now they might not have the money to sign their young studs. i might be crazy and i dont even know if these guys are UFAs or RFAs or whatever they may be, but these guys are big, young and very talented. if the wings arent going to be able to sign datsyuk for something reasonable, maybe they should sign one of these guys. they are only going to get better. milan kraft: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/prof...le?statsId=2123 ryan malone: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/prof...le?statsId=3011
-
so, yeah..... i guess nobody shares my sentiments on malone and kraft.
-
and wasnt he adopted for $1 (canadian)

2. Claude lemieux( what you did to my beloved paul coffey during the 96 playoffs was a disgrace) uh, what did lemieux do to coffey in 96?

about time someone posted this. this would be a TERRIBLE deal. we dont need an old goalie. we arent going to make a run for the cup this year, so we better not sell our teams soul for a goalie with only a couple of years left. and i cant imagine that belfour and belak for zetterberg would really help our cap situation
