next seasons free agent signing priority #1
Barnes52 replied to paul woods fan club's topic in General
Money talks, plus a chance to win a cup. -
He's had eight points in seven games while playing wing. I know, people always point to his points. But his defense is awful and most of his points have come from passing it back to Lidstrom for a one-timer, something you or I can do. Most of the time, he apprears dis-interested and is not using his big frame to create turnovers. He's best at center, but this team is loaded there and even have younger guys who need to play there. He's older and his salary is such that can bring us a physical winger and defenseman. That's needed more than Lang right now

There you go....to replace Fischer and Lilja? In a heartbeat -
Lang is expendible for the following reasons 1) His salary 2) Abundance of centers on this team already 3) 35 yrs old 4) Can't play wing with any effectiveness He's a good player, and face it, nowadays you have to be bold and trade good players to get good players. In the past, teams like Detroit could wait arond and pick off teams that needed to shed payroll, not anymore. Lang is very expendible.

Bootland proving he deserves a callup
-
Lang/Williams orLang/ draft picks for Cris Clark and Brendan Witt
-
Raffi Torres is not for sale, he's an up and coming power forward star type that Detroit would never draft.
-
I think Lang and Hudler are for sale, the Wings are too stacked at center and Lang's salary is a bit high. We need a physical defensman and a power forward type.
-
He wants to shake things up. He won't trade Mowers for Bell, but if he can get a Hudler and Williams, he might do it, I'd do it in 2 seconds if I was Kenny
-
Gee, wonder if that story was planted by Turco to squeeze more money out of the Stars? nahhh
-
2 out of how many? When you draft every team and league in Europe, you're bound to hit on a few...why not diversify your draft stragedy so that....perish the thought, you can develop and power forward. Looks like Bootland and Ellis may be just that, but Holland will find a way to cut them loose
-
How do you know this? Tallon sent word to everyone around the league that his whole roster is up for grabs, some will come easier than others, but Bell can be had
-
I watched some of it....until the 2nd period. But saw that with Bootland....
-
Bootland did, he took on Aitken once again and won, then he assisted on Fillipula's goal, on a play started by Bootland by denying a clearing attempt. I'm glad he's not playing for Detroit, because what would we do with Mowers?...
-
Because this organization could use more scorers...
-
Hatch..many thanks! By the way, I answered my own question about who he replaces, it seems the Griffs have been looking for veteran D-Men because they're running low.

Hey B52, no i didn't see it but i was listening on the radio. Maybe the edger can clarify how bad it was but from what i heard on the radio this is what wen't down, Cote tried to swipe the puck out of Legace's glove with his stick once the play had stopped and a scrum started, Bootland went straight for Cote and both came out of the scrum with the gloves off and Bootland was teeing off on Cote with the left with pretty much everything landing, Cote tried a right but Bootland answered with a couple of upper cuts and then some more lefts to finish it. Kaser said it was a complete beating and that Cote would think twice about doing it again. Glad he's in the Minors, Detroit doesn't need a guy like that...right?
-
News of the day!!!!!!!!!! Ryan Jorde is a physical d-man who was a Sabre prospect and can actually play. But who does he replace?
-
Lang was before the deadline. It's been done before
-
Oh, he does does he? You must be his favorite poster Barnes!! He sent me a private message telling me how he wished he had my trade ideas, but he's just too emotionally attached to his players...
-
What crap!! Holland has deity status on this board, it's the ones who dare question his moves that get chastized. No one is saying that Abdelkader is going to suck, but why draft him so high? Especially when there were other players who had more of a complete package and could provide an element this franchise seems to ignore. Holland could've drafted Ladrondresse (sp) and waited to drat Abdelkader later, he'd have still been around, that's the point.
-
I disagree about Bootland, he's been consistent but has always brought his physical game
-
http://www.mlive.com/hockey/grpress/index....5810.xml&coll=6 Scroll down a bit, seems that this adds more fuel for Detroit to go out and add a veteran physical defensman, that way Grand Rapids can get Rivers or even Woolley
-
What does a guy need to do to get called up around here? Proof positive that Holland has a thing against guys who are gritty, unless they're from Europe. 37 games 9 goals 14 assts 172 PIM's Plays on the power play and penalty kill, and is their physical presence.
-
WOW!!!!!!!!! I had no clue Booter had been doing that well...Holland is really starting to piss me off now, its like he actually thinks Mowers can help the team.........please somebody take the blinders off him before we have another disapointing playoffs...... Maybe he thinks Bootland is better off developing this season by getting time in Grand Rapids than not playing at all in Detroit? Let's see, the guy has developed into a physical force, and is providing the physical presence this team sorely lacks. Get rid of Mowers, and give Bootland his minutes..what a friggin joke
