Hatch, Tell us about the beating, did you see it?
-
He's not an upgrade over what we have now. Why can't Holland go after some defensemen? But what all these rumors are saying is where there's smoke, there's fire. It's clear Wings brass is not sold on either goalie taking us to the promised land.
-
you'd have to throw in some crack for the Devil's GM to smoke while making that deal. I think Lou got himself hooked on something with all the CBA negotiations cuz he was definitely on something during the offseason when he signed Rafalski to $4.2M, Malakhov to $3.6M, Mogilny to $3.5M, and McGillis to $2.2M. peace Like Toronto and Philly they took a chance that there would be grandfather clause, or that there would never be a hard cap...they lost the gamble

For the compliment and the Witt trade proposal
-
How about Williams/Lang/Legace for Brodeur and White?
-
I know, I guess it's my daily indirect shots at getting rid of Mowers to free up some things. Like a clogged sink or colon, Holland needs to send some guys packing, actually more like just Mowers for now.
-
Very slow start but has picked it up recently. He's now one of their leading scorers.
-
Bad trade....Holland should be hitting the phones for a physical, banging defenseman, not a too pricey goaltender that'll restrict you from doing anything for the next few years. Zetterberg is much too valuable to trade, I'd trade Datysuk before Zetterberg.
-
Really? Who do we have to give up? Guys like Mowers, or Hudler? That'll kill this team... All this because they beat a team that's one of the worst in the NHL and was without guys like Foote and Richardson and Westcott etc...yeah, I'd start booking my Stanely Cup tickets now..!

how long is primeau gone for? i don't recall hearing any expected date of return. i'm curious to know when he'd be back. the point about trade v. ir-substitute is a good point. i didn't read the article, i just made the not-too-good assumption that it was a trade. another general point on this trade: the flyers offense is their strength right now; it's their defense that needs fixed. weight seems superfluous. hopefully pitkanen will return healthy and resume his incredible season, thereby significantly bolstering the flyers' d. He may be done for good....
-
If Weight becomes a Flyer, watch out....meanwhile Holland sits around and continues to admire his shrewd acquistion of Woolley and thinks are defense is fine.
-
I agree Luongo is a gem but he's much too expensive. I'm hoping Holland is asking around about guys like Witt and Souray types.
-
Wow, that is one helluva bad idea. (IMO of course) You just don't get rid of Datsyuk for Luongo period.. I'm in the same boat and have no clue about Olesz. But you're trading our #1 netminder, goalie of the future, our "NOW" and "FUTURE" with Pavel.. ick. Olesz is very talented, but prone to taking games off. He has not yet reached his potential, but he has a TON of potential. I see no reason why Holland would accept that offer. Seems to me that he should focus his attention on acquiring more beef for the blueline, because the elite goalies are much too expensive
-
Jovo.... He can hit, move the puck and can keep the peace-if you get my drift, just ask Deadmarsh . Perfect mix of physical play and finesse. Chara and Redden will stay in Ontario, but don't forget Witt either
-
I'd take Mark Bell and Bredan Witt and be happy.... Barnesy-see how Lacouture is playing for the Bruins? He's on their fourth line and has won big against guys like Domi and Wiemer in fights. Has as many goals as Draper and Cleary also, in less games. Too bad Detroit couldn't find a spot for him
-
Read on Spectors that any and all Hawks players are now available. Holland, this is Mark Bell, go get him....
-
It's going to take him a few years to hit Grand Rapids, he's very thin. But I love his attitude and ability to hit.
-
I'm beginning to think that these goalie moves are part of something bigger. I'm thinking they're giving tryouts to GR Goalies to see which ones may be able to take over the backup role so they can trade Legace. Howard, it's clear needs time to develop, but MacDonald was at times dominating last year in the AHL and if not for his back injury would have been competing for a backup spot.
-
When did I ever advocate trading Draper for an AHLer? Never! I said that Detroit should see what kind of market there'd be for Draper but I have never offered him out for any random player. A reigning Selke Trophy winner should be able to fetch us alot
-
Do you know what you're saying? You're advocating trading a current Red Wings for another NHL player. I'll take Gomez over Draper also, but I doubt Draper would be willing to go to a team that might not make the playoffs.
-
I believe that each of the players I've advocated trading for are 1) skilled enough 2) either available or on a team that could have a firesale So I have no idea where the idea that myself and others just look at PIM's to decide who to trade for is realistic, that was the reason for my response. If he wants to generalize, so will I. You don't have to agree with me/us, but I'm not going to allow someone to generalize and mis-construe what we're saying
-
Because we have a GM who is obsessed with small players and we have quite a few posters who are as obsessed. Sorry, if I pine for a bigger physical player, I don't apologize for it. It seems we have a big disagreement as to what Detroit needs. But it seems that history is on our side, at least when it comes to the playoffs. I'll disregard your queen comment

And some read the stats only and if they're under 5'9" they get themselves aroused

I was told in another thread that I needed to get a grip on reality for mentioning him
