That's what I think, keep this in mind though, we have a nice problem, we have young players who are ready to play in the NHL right now, and are cheap, it still would be a wise move for Holland to play a call to Pleau and see what they can do. Lebda may be expendible, but Quincey is ready, Meech?
-
Hey B52, was that rumor posted by Vinny DaRangfan? That would be equivelant to Oates for Federko -- I'd give them more than Poti (who stinks). I have no idea...here's the link though http://insidethecode.blogspot.com/

Barnsey, Heard a rumor that Jackman is available, the NY Rangers are offering just Poti for him. Can you imagine that? Get on the phone and see what it'd take, guy is tough, Calder Trophy winner (over Zetterberg) and young. Man, I'd love to see him in a Wings uniform....
-
He's playing well, 4 pts (2 g 2 a) and is getting time on the penalty kill and power play, he's also backchecking. Did I mention he leads the AHL with 7 majors this year? Why? Because he's the only toughness Grand Rapids has right now. I'd love to see Mowers get the axe and have Bootland see some time on the fourth line as a "grinder". Given he's on the last year of his contract, you're going to need to evaluate him anyways, might as well cut some dead weight. Speaking of dead weight, how about getting rid of Rivers and playing Lebda, I mean when are we going to let the kids play?
-
I never said it was a rumor, I said we should inquire about him. The Hawks have salary issues and he's a free agent, why not see what it'd take?
-
No real signs, but he may command a biger salary and Chicago may not be able to accomdate him because of their cap troubles. They are also only drawing about, at most, 10,000 fans to the games, they are a pathetic franchise. They may have their usual firesale come deadline time
-
Couldn't happen to a nicer team, they pissed and moaned about teams like Detroit and their spending, get a cap, then Chicago goes out and spends like drunken sailors. Their number one FA prize lays a big egg, and Detroit is even more successful, how can you not love the irony. No one could write this stuff any better...I live in Chicago, and hate the few fans that follow the Blackhawks, I love rubbing it in their faces
-
You are correct, it would allow for more movement of players.
-
Nathan Perrott, was just traded by the Leafs for a song. He's a great skater and a good fighter. He could be a Neil type if there ever was one.
-
I knew you wouldn't be surprised. Hey Bootland can play a fourth line role score some goals, draw some penalties and get his nose dirty. I agree and I'm not advocating we replace him with the players you mentioned, just as a callup when there's injuries ahead of Mowers. At some point though, you got to see what he can do, his contract is up and you need to see if he can hack the NHL.
-
No, but I'd love for him to be a fill in for any of those guys if they go down to injury
-
+/- is not a primary concern. why not? espically for a d-man. That means he's on the ice when a goal is scored. I don't know about you but i prefer my d-men to keep the opposing team from scoring. Man, you're picky. Some people can never be pleased....
-
No, unless there's an injury to top 6 forwards...why? 2 words:Salary Cap
-
what teams were watching?
-
Exactly, my point. Holland doesn't have the luxury of picking teams off at the deadline because everyone is in the same boat (ie salary cap). I hope things stay merry and rosy, because if something goes south, I'm not confident Holland could pull a trade off. If I were Kenny, I'd try and trade Mowers and Rivers for Laraque or someone like him (Oliwa?) imagine a fourth line with Oliwa/Cleary/Franzen...talk about a "grind line"
-
Unless he get's adopted by a Swedish family and takes their name, I doubt this organization will take any look at him.
-
exactly FF, we need to put this in context.....some European Leagues, a loud fart get's you a 10 game suspension. But Finalnd, from what I hear, is pretty tough. They play a grittier style of game there
-
Barnes update: He signed a 25 game try out with Hamilton of AHL. That's the farm team of the Montreal Canadiens. Good luck to him
-
I have to agree with NN, beef up front is much more pressing. Not that we don't need both, but between the two, up front is more urgently needed
-
Because we could've done alot better than Woolley, Holland Homer....besides, Woolley looked great last night -2 and getting out worked in front of the net and in the corners...great pickup. As for Schneider, playing with Lidstrom makes alot of people look good, Schneider is good but do you really think if LA wasn't desperate to shed payroll that Holland would've acquired him? The days of playing vulture and picking up players off of dead teams payrolls are done....let's see if he can replicate a Schneider move on an even playing field...doubt he can, but he'll always have his apologists like yourself to explain away his Krupp, Whitney, Cujo signings, right?
-
This is my beef with Holland, he can't think "out of the box". Before signing Woolley, maybe he could've worked the phones and saw if there was anything available, even if there wasn't, why Woolley? And what was the hurry? Heaven forbid Holland makes a trade that's not a deadline deal for draftpicks...and speaking of those, how many of those have panned out besides Chelios?
-
No, rumors are Europe and Danbury of the UHL. I hear he would've played for GR this year, but they're only allowed to hold a certain number of veterans, and Detroit stocked them with their share of vets.
