SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline

I'd love Guerin, Roberts and/or Lapointe.

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline

Maybe, but I don't think Parker knows enough about hockey, nor cares enough about hockey, to just blindly name Marty Lapointe. Someone must have told him at the very least. I have heard the same rumors, not that I'm as well connected, but I know the Wings were always sorry to have lost him, and have always wanted him back.

    met Danny Cleary today

I'll admit I was wrong about this one, he's a steal at this price. But let's put this in prospective, no one thought he was going to lead the team in goals, and my issue with Cleary was that he was a Maltby clone, so if you sign Cleary I would hope you lose Maltby. Funny though, I could bring up threads where myself and a few others were talking about how the Wings wouldn't do anything in the playoffs because they didn't have the necessary grit needed.

    Tucker being shopped per spectors

I'm not up in arms over the hit, that's Drake's M.O. I'm upset that the Wings wouldn't respond, to me there's a difference.

    Tucker being shopped per spectors

I love the guy, he's all heart and grit. He does whatever it takes to win, and makes no apologies for it. He also will back up his actions, and stick up for his teammates. I'd buy season tix if the Wings signed him.....from Chicago

    Pugilist Corner

The thing I loved about Probert was that he would ALWAYS avenge his losses the next time the teams played each other. Steve Yzerman would not have had as many points earlier in his career had Probert and Kocur not been there to defend him. By the way, Cam Jannsen is also one of my favs, he reminds me of a young McCarty. He's willing to throw with anyone, he hits like a truck and is built like a brick s*** house. He was a fan favorite in junior with the Windsor Spitfires

    Wings talking to Panthers

Holland trading Datsyuk is as likely as Holland and Babcock moving to Massachuetts to get married. Not gonna happen, that would be a risky trade and Holland doesn't do anything remotely gutsy or risky, no way, never!

    Now, I'm excited

From HF Boards Hey guys, I thought I'd drop in and give you a little info on Nick Oslund. He's one of my best friends and we played on the same high school hockey team. First off, central scouting has him listed at 6'3 195. That's not accurate. He's 6'3 1/2 220. His dad is 6'5 - 6'6 and Ozzie is supposed to be the same height as his dad. He doesn't stop eating . Many of you probably think he is fat but he's not. I workout with him and he's an extremely built kid. Ok, so a little bit about him this season in high school hockey. He led the Lake Conference in scoring, which is the toughest conference in the state for high school hockey. He basically carried our team. He obviously played on the first line, but he didn't get much help. That's why leading the Lake in scoring was that much more impressive. He has a great work ethic and plays every shift like its his last. He was a captain of our team and is very very intense. That's one of the main reasons he decided to go to St. Cloud for hockey. He told me Motzko is a very intense coach. Ozzie hits like a truck. One of the hardest hitters in the state. He also had one of the top shots in the state. It could be a little quicker, but boy he can fire it. With such a big frame you'd think he's probably slow. That's just the opposite, he was the fastest player on our team and most of the time against other teams. He has a very very long and powerful stride. That's why he's so fast. It's funny because he can't run worth a damn, but he can skate like the wind. He's a physical player that doesn't take any **** from other players. He trash talks a lot and people that don't know him very well, could think he's an arrogant kid. One thing that's really annoying, is all the attention high school players like Forney, Fulton, Sneep, Marvin, etc. get because they dominate CLASS A. When a player like Ozzie dominates CLASS AA, but doesn't get the recognition because he didn't have as many points in a much much harder class. A whole different skill and physical level from Class A to Class AA. We played way way way harder teams than any of those guys. Sure, they had a few tough games, but look how many points they racked up against small town no name teams. People don't look into that enough. For those of you that don't know... there are 2 divisions in Minnesota High School Hockey. Class A is for smaller schools or less skilled teams, and Class AA is for the most competetive teams and bigger schools. Nick "Ozzie" Oslund is a great guy. His head is on straight and he's a very outgoing guy. He's fun to be around and chill with. He's not cocky as some say, he's very modest. He can't wait to start next season in the USHL. Trust me when I say this, he's the real deal. One of the Red Wings scouts visited his house 2 days before the draft and told Nick personally that he should have been rated much higher, but they were happy because they could take him as a sleeper. I promise you won't be disappointed. You guys got a real gem, and now I know why the Red Wing organization can find gems in the later rounds like Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Your scouting is awesome, because you found a stud. If you have any other questions about him, feel free to ask in this post or PM me because I'm always on the HF Boards looking at stuff. He came into the Wings forum to post about this kid, knows him personally, love what I hear. I'm going to watch this kid carefully

    Detroit interested in Marleau

Remove Kronwall, toss in Lebda and you have a deal....
  15. Barnes52

    Detroit interested in Marleau

Kronwall is more physical, therefore I'd take Kronwall. But you're right about the "injury prone" label
  16. Barnes52

    Detroit interested in Marleau

Oh yeah, they're up there also for sure. But it's a shame how people forget the Brendan Shanahan of old, he was a force. The Wings will miss his presence on the ice. Yes, I was one of the biggest bellyachers about Shanahan and his lack of physical play, but when he drove to the net and skated into scrums, he never found too many takers.

    Detroit interested in Marleau

Shanahan arguably will go down as the best power forward to ever play the game. Scratch that, he WAS the best power forward to ever play the game except for Gordie Howe (although they weren't called "power forwards" back then). But if you include Howe, than Shanny was second best, Neely a distant third

    Detroit interested in Marleau

For the record, I'm not advocating trading Kronwall for Marleau, but I can't see how the Sharks would want Datsyuk when they have Bell who's cheaper and signed for a few years. Lou is right about a 3 way
  19. Barnes52

    Detroit interested in Marleau

That's right Barnesy, which is why the Wings may have to part with Kronwall in order to land him. They need defense (Sharks)
  20. Barnes52

    Detroit interested in Marleau

I know.....I doubt the valididity of the rumor, but thought it was interesting nonetheless. I do know that Marleau wants out, I have read that a few places, and with Mark Bell there now, who can play center and wing, it makes it even more plausible.
  21. Barnes52

    Naslund for Gagne?

Not happening, no room for this trade to happen on Vancouver's side. Rumor mongers should take into account the salary cap
  22. Barnes52

    Wings show interest in Leetch?

Oh, well that's a bit more digestable...sorry Drapes
  23. Barnes52

    Wings show interest in Leetch?

You'd rather have Schneider than Marleau? You can't be serious, I pray you're not serious. Schneider's father would trade him for Marleau.....
  24. Barnes52

    Tucker?

Tucker's a ufa next year, he'll get dealt if the Leafs fail to qualify for the playoffs.
  25. Barnes52

    Tucker?

If Holland managed to acquire Tucker, I would label him a GOD, and shower him with praises
