No. There's a limit to how many players a team can take and how often. I'm firing up the CBA I'll have a definitive answer shortly. The big limits are as follows. A player can only be taken to club initiated arbitration once. A team can only take two players to arbitration per year.
-
I was gonna say... those two (particularly the bottom one) look as if they can cause a heap load of a trouble in a hurry...
-
It is my understanding that other teams cannot tender an offer.
-
Malkin will make no less than $8M. Hossa will likely hit real close to $8M. Whitney's cap hit is $4M. Gonchar's cap hit is $5M.
-
He's only a 3rd line center because guys like Crosby and Malkin are ahead of him. He'd be a solid #2 on a LOT of teams.
-
The Rangers did this last season with Lundqvist.

Datsyuk is by far the best defensive forward on the offensive side of the red line. But as he gets closer and closer to his own net he gets more and more passive. He sits back (hence the blocked shot edge) whereas Z goes in full-on attack mode once the puck crosses center ice and prevents a lot of shots before they happen. Z exhibits relentless pressure on the puck to get the clear and very often a chance going the other way. Pavel nullifies possession by the opposition usually before it fully gets established coming of their zone. Z nullifies it as they get close to or in our zone. Z is the more traditional defensive forward and Pavel is very unorthodox with his thievery and quick transitions. It's hard to explain if it doesn't make sense to you, but that's how I see it.

So close, but Nick finished 4th in Hart voting. Maybe next year...
-
A $3M+ #4 helped us win the Cup. We most certainly have the money for it. What else are we going to spend the money on? You holding out hope for Hossa or something?
-
A little time off with his family. He'll be in Malibu w/ Cheli soon.
-
A player can "earn" a spot in training camp as well. The AHL is not the only spot for that.
-
Hart - AO - Very easy choice Pearson - AO - ditto Norris - Lidstrom - ditto Byng - Datsyuk - ditto Selke - Z - Hank got the bulk of the press this year. Since the press does the voting... Vezina - Nabokov - Could go to Brodeur. Toss up. Calder - Kane - Toews was the best rookie but got hurt Adams - Boudreau - The best coach doesn't win when he's behind a great team. Sad but true. Masterton - Pisani - His illness was horrific and he was within days of having his colon removed and his career ended. Blake's cancer is "cancer" so it sounds bad, but relatively mild. Cheli is an old cuss. If the writers were sure he'd retire, he'd win it.

The Wings have given permission to teams to talk to the assistants. McLelland is interviewing with Atlanta and San Jose this week.

If you read my post you'd realize that you don't know who or what a young Fedorov was. Selfish "me first" players don't win the Selke. Twice.
-
If I were Shero I'd try to do everything in my power to get Bouwmeester.
-
Young Fedorov? Are you kidding? Sergei was the runner up for the Selke his 2nd year. Won it his 4th year, along with the Hart, finishing 2nd to Wayne F'in Gretzky in the scoring race. When it came down to it, Fedorov did what it took to win. Period. Malkin has done way more floating around in his 2 years in the league than Fedorov has done over his entire career.

Makes you question his consistency? He was a 19 year-old suffering a sophomore slump. Not to mention he was a winger last season and this season, at 19, they asked him to be their checking line center. As he grows into that role, he's only going to get more productive. From Samuelsson to Anson Carter... can you get any more ridiculous with your comparisons? I'm shocked you haven't mentioned Chris Gratton to be quite honest. There is no way Staal signs a 3+ year deal for less than $4-5M/yr. They've got another year to wait and see and negotiate, but it could bite them in the ass if he explodes at 20 like his brother did.
-
Staal is 19 and likely made more than $2M the last couple seasons. There is no way he'll sign for $2M. Shorter than 3 years he likely gets at least $3M/yr. Getting in the 5 year range he'd be stupid to sign anything lower than 5M/yr. Filppula will be getting at least $2M/yr and Staal is better with MUCH more potential. Staal projects to be something similar to Holik or Primeau and they both made ridiculous money. Massive defensively sound 2nd line centers will always get paid. And he's 19!

Nik and Stu were +6 and absolute monsters the first two games. The Pens played very safe against them after that.

He gave a quick interview after his truck arrived and they were waiting for the others, but he didn't even want to be in the parade. He doesn't want to overshadow what the boys did this spring and knowing how much he's beloved it wouldn't take much. But apparently Kenny and co. bugged him enough to get him to show up and then he couldn't not ride along. If you go by what he's said, he's unbelievably happy and proud, but it seems he wants to step back for a while and let the current Wings have their day in glory. They've earned it.

Lil' Jiri did nothing but quietly sip his lemonade all day long...

Drapes is hilarious. Asked how superstitious the Wings are compared to other teams. "Right up there. After we lost in Pittsburgh everyone switched rooms. Came back for game 4 and Z just came up and swapped envelopes." These types of interviews are infinitely better after a cup win. So much candour. Refreshing.

That goal and whole situation scared the s*** out of me. I was watching on nbc, but with the tornados all around last night it was split screen with the weatherman blabbering the. ENTIRE. GAME. LONG. so in the chat people started freaking out about goal, no goal, and I see the replay but can't hear what's being said. I saw the point, but had no idea whether there was a whistle by the other guy or not, but yeah. Stressful. That Joannette guy is alright. The rest can do as Doggy suggests...

I'm pretty sure Iginla did that to Dom last season. Babcock wasn't pleased (with Dom) to say the very least.
