Man... there were constant trade rumors just before and just after the lockout. But at this point there is no way in hell he ever goes anywhere else. He'd be perfect though. He's a righthanded Zetterberg that plays the wing and has a huge slapshot.

The NHL rigged the ballots so you can't not vote for Sid...

Fedoruk is the Lindros of enforcers. He's broken and done. Someone needs to tell him to give it up before he risks his post playing career even more.

For those of you who don't understand the waiver wire system

And to complete the lesson, the Yotes cannot trade Bryzgalov for the rest of the season without first offering him up for free to any other team that put in a claim for him (it isn't an actual draft like order where you wait your turn, you put in claims and then they sort through them to see who has priority). -
As long as we score more than a third of the number of shots we allow (give up 12, score 4+; give up 15, score 5+; give up 18, score 6+; etc..), we should be fine.

Were that to continue we wouldn't need the "Dominator's" services. In which case I see little need in reserving $4M in cap space for the less than "dominating" Dom that we currently have.

We need a backup that won't give away valuable points when the starter gets the flu...

HAHAHA harold got pwnt bi teh sarkzm stik!!!11

Too bad it was an error on Barry's part rather than the error on Kenny's part...

If Dom were a coach this'd be the kiss of death... http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...eks_strugg.html

I vote for murder-suicide.

I would like to point out that this isn't just one game. I would also like to point out that while Dom may be a slow starter, he has never started this slow. Given that he's not nearly as young or as good as he was back in the day, on what basis can we reasonably expect him to recover? I would also like to address the issue of "the team is playing better in front of Osgood and sucking in front of Dom." If Dom can't overcome the play of the 18 guys in front of him, why are we putting ourselves through the mayhem of babysitting his groin and ego? What's the point of eating up $4M in cap space if the team has to be humming on all cylinders for him to be effective? If the Wings can't win the Cup with Osgood in net, they won't win with Dom. That simple. Find a backup that can handle the backup duties (ie come into a game on short notice) and be done with it.

You're misusing correlation. You're implying causation here. The correlation is that Pavel's numbers are down and he is playing on the wing. There is no because involved. For all we know his numbers would be identical were he playing in the middle. He's getting chances. He's taking more shots than he's ever taken before. They're just not going in. Posts, great saves, etc... Anyway reality boils down to this: Z at center + Pavel on the wing > Pavel at center + Z on the wing.

Mats scored 20 goals and 17 assists in the 25 Leaf games after the Olympics. He didn't miss a single game and did pretty much everything in his power to try and will the Leafs into the playoffs. Including a 6 point effort in a 6-5 OT win in the final week of the season. You can't blame Sundin for the Leafs sucking.

You're out of your ******* mind. Not part of the discussion. Just sayin...

They need to hook up with Nick's boys...

Marian Hossa? Until last December I'd have pegged Marian as a bigger faster version of Zetterberg. Great two-way ability and a touch better than a point per game offensively.

I would like to take the time out point out that Lecavalier is arguably the worst cherry picker in the league. No way he puts up 50/100 type numbers in Detroit.

I'm not a Sammy hater per se. I pointed this out above. It's simply a case of playing styles. Sammy does not use his linemates very well in the offensive zone. Period. It's commendable that he can still produce. And since he can, why give him linemates that might work better together as a unit with someone else on the line? Sammy's game won't change if he's on a line with Kopecky/Ellis/Drake/whoever or Franzen/Filppula/Hudler. But Hudler's game does change as his playing style is almost completely dependent on making use of his teammates in the offensive zone.
-
You're not getting it, Jack. Sammy produces, but it shouldn't matter what line he's on as he doesn't make full use of his linemates. Hell one of those assists described up there was when he was out there with Kopecky and Ellis. His style of play is not to give and go (though amazingly he pulled off a nice one with Filppula) and pass to open ice. Sammy's style is very simple. Get the puck. Shoot the puck. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Hudler's game involves a lot of passing, finding seams in the defense, give and goes, etc... He won't just randomly fire the puck on net if there is a chance to create more dangerous scoring opportunity. Sammy has passed up countless opportunities to pass the puck to an open teammate in the offensive zone or on an odd-man rush. It's all about making use of your players. Knowing their strengths and weaknesses and putting everyone in a role so they can help the team. If Sammy had amazing chemistry with Filppula/Franzen/whoever yeah, keep him on that line, but he doesn't. He doesn't have chemistry with anyone as his game isn't designed that way. It's not so much a knock on Sammy so much as a knock on Babcock as he's not using these guys as effectively as possible. Babcock should realize that Sammy and his linemates aren't working together so much as their working individually on the same line. If you just sit back and add up the numbers, yeah you might think it's working out, but not as a unit which should be the end goal.

6 assists. There has been a scoring chance on one of them, but it hasn't been noted on his profile on any of the sites yet, but if you look at the game sheets he only has 6. Anyway, I decided to revisit those assists for fun. 1 Pass back to Nick on the blueline. 2 Pass into the slot to Chelios who got three chances before putting it in net. 3 He shot the puck into a pile against Vancouver and Kopecky cleared out Luongo and Ellis had that weird blind backhand goal. 4 On a rush w/ Filppula he did give him a nice pass at the top of the circles that Fil took in and roofed. 5 Hudler dropped the pass to Sammy clearing the zone then he gave it right back to Jiri in the neutral zone and Hudler made the defender and Luongo look silly. 6 D to D pass to Lebda on the PP who found Hudler at the side of the crease. 6 assists and only one was a pass to a linemate while in the offensive zone. 3 were passes to defensemen (one on the PP). One was a pass to a linemate in the neutral zone. And one was his linemates cleaning up a rebound from a shot. Displaying great chemistry and teamwork with his linemates... He's picked up 3 goals in the last 6 games and is apparently on the bubble for even being suited up for Wed's game let alone being on a scoring line.

It's not so much the idea of picking on Sammy as he doesn't use his linemates anyway so why not let it be the scrubs on the 4th? He'll still get PP time, so it won't be too much of a shock to him. Hudler - Filppula - Franzen has at the very least shown an ounce of chemistry the few times they've been out together (first 2 games of the playoffs before Todd was activated and a couple preseason games this season). Tell Kop and whoever else to go flying into the corners to retrieve the puck and then let Sammy fire away with the rest crashing the crease.

Hehehehe... you're gonna regret asking that particular question.
