Doan would be a perfect fit for us. If we could work something around Kronwall, that would be a great move. We have guys coming down the pipe that can bring what Kronwall brings (or might bring). We don't have anyone that resembles Doan in any way. A couple threads on another board. Apparently an Edmonton radio host brought it up as something he heard (Edmontonian have long been hankering for Doan as the Oil passed him up at the draft IN Edmonton when the fans were chanting his name when the Oil were up to pick).

Depends on which pace you decide to prorate. Z started out horrendously cold, but when the top line was put together he got progressive better week by week. If you prorate his pace from the 40 games they played together over the 19 games he missed, he'd have ended up with 94 points (11th in league scoring). If you take the last two months (25 games) and apply it to the 19 games he missed he'd have had 100 points (6th in league scoring). And if you're bold and take the final month (11 games) and apply it to the 19 games he'd have had 111 points (3rd in league scoring). And it's worth noting that he's kept up a pace to start this season that's not far off from the pace in the last calculation. Z has notched 17 goals and 20 assists in his last 17 regular season games. If he stays healthy and that line stays intact, he'll be top 5 in scoring.

I should have added that to the list of misconceptions. He can and does defend fairly well, considering how he looked when he first broke into the league. As an 18 year-old I might add. He's not going to win a Selke, but few do anyway. He wouldn't be my first choice to kill penalties, but not because he can't, but because we've got a stable full of guys that can do it. Though if we were down in the 3rd and had to kill a penalty I wouldn't hesitate to toss him and Z or Pavel out there and see if they can score one.

Yeah, the balance Babcock has to look at is can these guys score enough on one line to counter balance the scoring boost they take away from their other potential linemates when split up. So far it seems like they can. Going back to last season Z has 34 points in his last 15 regular season games (I'm giving him that extra goal for now).

Z definitely touched that puck as it completely changed angles. And I'm pretty sure the puck was on the line when he did so. And I'm someone convinced that had Z not touched the puck that it might not even have trickled all the way over. It's a goal either way, so it doesn't really matter. Just that when it happened (as well as the replays I saw) I saw Z scoring that goal and yet no one on the air mentioned that it could have been a possibility. Later in the game Daniels was joking that Homer gets more goals the morning after than anyone else. Tomorrow he may actually lose one.

So how long til the league gives that 2nd goal to Z? He'd own the league's scoring lead with that one, I believe.

Yup. The best questions give you something to dig for without easy flags like specific seasons, stats, or anything like that. This particular trivia question came to mind when they were talking about this with Rhett during the Flames' run to the Finals. How his new teamsalways seem to make it but haven't yet cinched a title. When I was thinking about a way to give a hint without giving it away the coincidence of the Conn winners/record popped up. The bonus only really works well in conjunction with the Warrener question, because otherwise you're forced to give up specific info that makes it too easy (ie giving one of the years), or not enough to make it possible (such as "This Conn Smythe winner broke a record set by another Conn Smythe winner, what was the record and the two Smythe winners involved?"). Now I'm not sure whether there are more than one cases where that's applicable but I imagine there are.

That should make the bonus question easy.

Either Cleary or Drake. Though it might have been compounded with Draper chasing the puck carrier who was already being covered by Lidstrom, and leaving the middle open. As late as the last guy showed up, I think it might have been an assignment shift when Draper committed to Hemsky. I'd have to see it again.

It was more prominent because it was the last one, but Franzen's failure to clear the puck in the waning moments of regulation was the bigger and more important mistake. Without that one we win. Lilly's mistake not happening doesn't mean we win. We just don't lose on that play.
