$3.8M. Prior to the rollback he had a $10M/yr contract with a $5M option year. peace

    Keith Tkachuk

If we can squeeze his fat as... err.. contract on our roster and not mortgage our future in the process Fatty would be the PERFECT acquisition for us. A big, strong, mean goal-scorer. Lang would have to be moved to an eastern team that needs a center for the cap room, unless of course the Blues want him. Lots of joke opportunities but Tkachunky would put us over the top, IMO. peace

I'm not sure if that would be enough for Luongo and J-Bo (Bouwmeester ) but that's one hell of a nice package. peace

That pick or prospect better be Keith Ballard, or no deal. EDIT - and yes I know the rumor implied a pick or prospect moving OUT from Detroit. peace

    Doan Available?

Trade deadline sellers do not give up prospects. Only the buyers do. If you think the payment is too much, take some off from our end to balance. You don't add assets to the return. I think the value of that trade is about right, but I'm not so sure the types of players moving out would do the trick for a big horse like Doan. peace

    Jakub Kindl

Kindl was drafted last summer. We have until summer 2007 to sign him. At that point, he'll be 20 and will no longer have to be in juniors If the birthdays work out that way, great. I thought there was a case or two of guys trapped in the CHL that weren't quite good enough for the NHL but really should have been in the AHL. Though I guess looking up Schremp's birthday and draft year it works out to the same as Kindl's. Could be that Jakub came over a year later than most CHLers join and thus I pegged him as being a year behind. Oh well, he'll be signed and put wherever he's best utilized. peace

    Jakub Kindl

Yes, he'll have to go back to Juniors if he doesn't make the Wings outright which seems highly unlikely. I think next season and the year after will complete his CHL eligibility. If you're CHL eligible you can't play in the AHL. peace

    trade proposal

No, I'm not intimately familiar with the scrubs/prospects you have lined up, but you follow a fairly regular MO. Underrate our skill and overrate other teams' size. I am, however, familliar with Orszagh. He is a decently good checking line player... that the Blues acquired via waivers after the Predators unceremoniously let him go because of an injury. If he were in anyway the "missing piece" the Preds wouldn't have let him go in the first place, and for nothing. On a team where he'd get 2nd line time (not on Detroit) he's a decent 15/30 type guy that is sound defensively. Not what we need. Same goes for the freshly drafted defenseman in the Dub and a Junior first liner in the NCAA. How do these two help us this season and why would the Blues, a rebuilding team, even contemplate giving up these 'highly touted' prospects? Now that we've boiled down the acquisitions to a checking line grinder and two big bodies at least 2-3 years away from the big show (if they even make it pro), lets see what we give up. For that package you'd want to toss away the 3rd leading scorer in the top developmental league, a defenseman putting up decent numbers in the 2nd or 3rd best pro league in the world, a 1st round pick, and a 2nd/3rd rounder. Holy overpayment, Batman! I stand by the statement that Hudler alone could land at least two of them. As could Blatak and a 2nd/3rd. As could the 1st. peace bub

    trade proposal

Wow. This trade is beyond unbalanced. A. This trade doesn't help us in any way for this season. B. This trade doesn't help us in any way for the future. Hudler alone would fetch at least two of those guys. Orszagh is a checking line player the Blues picked up off the waiver wire. He is not the missing piece for our playoff run. The other two are big bodies, but unspectacular big bodies. Not to mention they are no closer to panning out than the 1st!! and 2nd/3rd picks you want ship out or Blatak. This thing is about as bad as the homer trades in the other thread, just in reverse. peace

    UFC 57

I've never followed UFC, Pride, or really K1 (saw a couple bouts on ESPN 2), but recently I've tried to find cool Pride fights online. I forget where and how but I stumbled upon a link to an Aleksander Emelianenko fight. He, and especially his older brother Fedor, can throw down! Damn! Google Video is my friend. peace

    The prospect that got away?

Hab-mania got to his head it would seem. I can't say for certain he would have turned out different drafted by us, but we do have a pretty good track record of giving players time to develop and mature. Though I guess Hakan, Nill, and Holland didn't see it in him and they're the professionals. Abdelkader sounds like he's doing alright for himself at MSU, but he still sounds like a better 3rd rounder than 2nd rounder. Blunden (a guy that was bandied about around here and tabbed by some mock drafts by media types as a guy, along with Latendresse, that would be a good big body for the Wings to go after) is having a great season. Helm is having an amazing year for himself. He's 8 points shy of tripling last season's output and has 22 games to do it. Quadrupling it is not out of the question if he gets hot. As I said on draft day, I like the guys we have but IMO it wouldn't have been hard to sneak a Latendresse or Blunden into the mix without sacrificing any but the last guy picked. peace
