What about picking up the leading scorer last season? peace
-
Sexiest Athlete in Denver in '97 I believe. peace
-
I think he's only signed for one more year after this one, no? I'd trade Lang for a decent defenseman, and with the showing Hank has had at center that might not be too far fetched. Jiri also hasn't really had a chance to show anything in the NHL. Lewis didn't give him a real shot (plus he was 19 and it showed at the time). I'd also prefer it if Babcock wouldn't have completely shut down the bottom three forwards and bottom 2 defensemen in the last game. Not to mention that until he does show something in the NHL we'll never get full value out of him in a trade. He has a ton of potential but it's also risky potential. I'd rather find out with him in our system than someone elses especially since he's done everything that's been asked of him and performed well. peace

I was thinking more along the lines of the guy that's deep into his 30's when you rattled off that list in reply to Hudler being part of the Future of the Wings. Trading Hudler now could be just as disasterous as trading Datsyuk in '00 for a depth defenseman could have been. He has the same potential (if not more) and is actually better than Pavel was at that stage of hockey development. Plus Jiri is still a year and a half/two years younger than Pavel was before he ever stepped foot in the league. Datsyuk was skinny, weak, and slow when he first cracked the lineup. He had vision and passing to his credit and he slowly made it work and is still developing. Why not give Hudler that same chance? He can stay in GR for another year if need be. Grigorenko won't cost more than $850K + potential bonuses as the entry level contract is capped. And if we have all these offensive minded guys, why not make the 3rd line another scoring line like back in the Bowman '02 Cup era? Except this go round they will be young up and comers instead of fading HOFers. peace

One of these things is not like the others... One of these things just doesn't belong... One of these things is not like the others... Can you figure it out before I finish this song? peace

I don't know. I just feel we could get a lot more than a rental of Witt out of Hudler and Legace. I know you don't like him but Hudler has HUGE potential and boatloads of skill. Legace not so much. I'd move him alone if it would get the deal done (provided the Caps want to move Kolzig though that is sounding less and less likely). Salei maybe? Burke seems hell bent on giving away players. peace
-
No, he isn't...but that'll probably be the market for him. Think of it like this...with Filippula coming into his own (Babcock seems to favor him), Legace all but gone, and Meech more than likely never going to be a regular Red Wing, why not? Because he's not worth it. Why waste these guys (Legace and Hudler mainly) on Witt? peace
-
Witt isn't worth that. Not by a long shot. peace
-
Alffy has the best shot. Though Jagr or Kovalchuk could turn it up and win this solely through their own efforts if they get really hot. peace

Brown. peace

Witt probably is going to garner a lot of attention. All we can do is hope McPhee likes Holland. Maybe Witt is allowed some sort of input on where he's going as well. Not sure where he'd prefer to go but the Wings are among the more competitive teams out there looking for defensive help. If we get outbid, we get outbid, but we can't afford to give up too much for a true rental unless we can agree to a contract extension prior to the deal. peace
-
That's massive overpayment for a player in the last year of his contract that has gone on the record asking to be traded to a competitive team. Leave Hudler and the 2nd out of it and disregard the 3rd coming in. You're making htis trade way to complicated. Either a pick or a player for Witt but not a player, prospect, and a pick for Witt and a pick. peace

I think Zetterberg is staking his claim for the center spot and Babcock is taking notice. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../512100439/1128 We've all noticed that Lang isn't the fleetest of foot out there and his style is to slow things down. That's not Babcock's style. peace

It's an AP report (I believe). They also stated we have the #1 PK before plainly showing we have the #5 PK in the head to head stats comparison (this was in yahoo's game preview that had that same Lang back in Washington section). Wasn't it just a couple days ago that Holland stated that Lang would be out til just around Christmas? peace

If he were some skinny little kid sitting around on his ass, sure. Most kids that are advanced to the point of being a projected top 10 pick into a professional league are fairly physically mature. He might add an inch or so and fill out a bit, but I doubt he'll become physically imposing. peace
-
True, he definently helps make money, but I don't think the Wings have much trouble in the making money department. Besides, I know he's obviously very popular, but I don't think they sold 7.6 million in Lidstrom jerseys this year. And he also hasn't been completely worthless on the ice so as to necessitate $7.6M in jersey sales to make him "worth it." peace
-
From a business perspective you also need to take the "everyone was coming after me with torches and a noose" into consideration. He's a beloved fixture on a successful team. Lidstrom helps make Ilitch money and helps Holland/Babcock win games. peace

Will Hudler play friday for the Griffins?
norrisnick replied to ProfessorLidstrom5's topic in General
I'd say it's a 99% chance he'll be with the big club. Sorry. peace -
http://www.kitchenerrangers.com/News.asp?Article=763 Kindl was just named the OHL's defenseman of the Month. Go Jakub! peace
-
He'll be UFA in the offseason. He's good enough to be a 4/5th type of guy that can move the puck. peace
-
Whos gonna play goalie in the playoffs. peace out. I'd go with the guy that's 44 - 33 in the playoffs. peace
-
You don't like this face? <------------- peace

I took it to be an either/or situation. The Rangers one I agree is extremely far fetched considering they have no need to tinker with their team right now. The Tampa one is a longshot, but if they have no confidence in their goalies (or Kubina) at the moment it might happen (if we sweaten the pot) though I wouldn't count on it. peace

Bowman material? Babcock talks to him a few times a week. peace
