Question, where did you hear this? Anything substantial or a friend of a friend of a neighbor? peace

I'd trade Legace for Kubina in a heartbeat. Kubina is damn good, though I doubt it would work financially. EDIT - on second thought it might work with Manny's $1M+ off the books and Jiri's $1.3M (presumably) off the books and a hefty chunk of Kronwall's $1M off the books til he returns. Kubina makes a hair over $2.5M. peace

False trade report followed by the poster being banned. peace

For the sake of the Wings. Snub him. As an OHL rookie he had a good year and his team won the Memorial Cup. He then had an off year and plummetted in the draft. He didn't like being bumped to the 2nd day and immediately rebounded with a big year. He wasn't selected as Captain of Kitchener in favor of a younger kid and he didn't like it and immediately had an even bigger year. If he gets left off that team he'll have a hell of a lot to prove next year. It would appear he plays better if he's not getting his way. peace

Guys like Quincey or Kolasau (Kolosov) might be better partners for a guy like Kindl down the line. Big more physical stay at home types. peace
-
Nope. Kids coming out of Junior leagues can't play in the AHL until their Junior eligibility is up. He's either with the Wings or Kitchener. I highly doubt he's ready to pull a Fischer and step in at 19 so I'm guessing he spends another year in the OHL. peace
-
I'm hoping he could turn out to be a Gleason kinda player. Gleason used to be a flashy offensive defenseman until he decided to work on his defensive game and even developed a physical presence. It seems that Kindl is willing to play that type of game. He needs to bring it to the NHL level though. It's a good thing he's still young then. Another year in Kitchener after this one should help. And considering his totals this year it'd be interesting what he could be capable of next year. peace
-
So he does have a hint of physical play? Interesting, though I hope he settles on one approach rather than being iffy physically and iffy positionally. peace
-
I think his best bet would be to try and emulate Lidstrom rather than Fischer. If being physical isn't his game, he shouldn't even try and just work on being strong positionally. Plus he isn't, and won't be, nearly as big and strong as Fisch is. Fischer is a beast and is very capable of throwing his size around, he was just hesitant at times. Kindl is about 3 inches and 30-odd pounds smaller. He's a slightly more solidly built Lidstrom. peace

He was ranked as a top 5 draft talent prior to his first year in the OHL. He has a ton of skill. He's still only 18 so he has plenty of time to get his entire game in order. peace

We play the Preds 8 times this season. He's scouting them I'd imagine. peace

And removing the most important piece of our core increases our odds how exactly? peace

3 Way Deal Involving The Wings, Bolts, and Ducks
norrisnick replied to e_mcgrath88's topic in General
Manny (nor Howard for that matter) isn't a 6-time Vezina, 2-time Hart/Pearson, Olympic gold medal winning goaltender. His highlights include being the winningest October goaltender ever (woooo!!) and notoriety as the best backup in the NHL in recent years. How many times do I have to say this? No goaltender will be the make it or break it component of this team. If we play like we did against the Kings we have a legitimate shot to compete for that big silver shiny thing in June. If we play like we have the the rest of the past couple weeks, not so much. peace -
3 Way Deal Involving The Wings, Bolts, and Ducks

Keep it clean and civil. peace -
That's not even a contest. Logan Koopmans would probably give Osgood a run for his money on these boards. peace

After Kozlov was drafted he was in an accident (weather related) that killed a teammate or friend. Apparently he was instrumental, along with the Snyder family, in keeping Heatley from completely falling apart. peace

3 Way Deal Involving The Wings, Bolts, and Ducks

A big body that Tampa is hoping will one day turn into a hockey player. peace -
He's built like Martin Lapointe (5'10" 215-220lbs). If you would consider that small, sure he's small. He's fast and drives to the net. As for his scoring output, his pace is well ahead of what Datsyuk had his last year in the RSL at around the same age. Plus most of the other players in the top 25 have teammates up there with them. Igor is a one man show putting up almost twice as many points (21 to 11) as the nearest teammate. peace

The Griffins are in town tomorrow playing the Iowa Stars and was just wondering if there was anyone in particular I should keep my eyes on for anyone? Yes, Barnesy I'll keep an eye on Amadio and cheer for any scrappiness. Too bad Quincey and Howard are up with the Wings I was hoping to check their game out. At least Hudler, Flapjack, Kopecky, Bootland et. al. are still around and playing well of late. The Stars don't seem to have the best of teams in their 1st season (I admit I haven't been following their progress). Isn't Belle supposed to be one of Dallas' best prospects? He's got a goose egg for the year and -4 in 18 games, even as a defenseman that's pretty bad. peace

Well, somewhat lackluster game IMO. I tried really hard Barnesy! but I couldn't find Eriksson on the ice. I could find him skating around in warmups but other than that he didn't leave much of an impression, good or bad. Ellis is a chippy bastard! He is hacking, slashing, checking anything that moves. Filppula was very involved. He's the engine on the Kopecky/Bootland line. Bootland floated a lot. Didn't hit much of anything or drop the mitts which was sad. Kopecky pursued the puck well but Valtteri must have some sort of knack to always be in the play. Hudler has slick moves and passes. Constantly circling looking for the puck or the open spaces. Saw him digging along the boards at times and had a two shift chat with #44 of the Stars which included a couple passing elbows and quick pokes going both ways. Quincey looked real solid going both ways, moving the puck well and blocking passes and shots (there was a LOT of that by both teams). I'd say less than half of all shots and passes went on net or to the intended player. Real sloppy by both teams but moreso the Griffins. Goals. The Stars' 1st goal was a simple back-door tip in from a PP point slap-pass. The Stars' 2nd goal was a mess with most notably #3 Clay Wilson?? not being able to clear the puck and then having the 2nd rebound shot bounce off him and in as Joey just layed in the crease hoping the puck would either be underneath him or hit him. Griffins' 1st goal was just a point shot by Helmer ripped through. The 2nd goal was a rebound drilled home after two chances by Filppula and Bootland right in front. The game winner by the Stars was a wrister top shelf from the left circle on a rush. When trying to come back Bootland and Kopecky each took a weird/stupid penalty and managed to take 4 minutes off the clock in the 3rd. Bootland just blatantly hook/tripped a guy as he passed him from behind at center ice. And Kopecky shot the puck on net just baarely after an offsides whistle and picked up the unsportsmanlike conduct for it. Oh and there was a looong 5 on 3 for the Griffins earlier in the game that they managed to piss away not amounting much of anything. The last minute and a half was pretty exciting as the Stars were called for a penalty in their own end so Ireland took a time out pulled the goalie and the Griffins controlled the offensive zone for the last 90 seconds peppering the Stars with chances and shots from Hudler in the right circle and point shots with traffic. But, they couldn't capitalize and that was all she wrote. I think Hudler would do well with linemates that can receive and move the puck at a much greater rate than what he currently has with Manlow and McDonell. I'd be very interested to see what he could do in Detroit and our passing game. He's almost always in open space looking for the puck and where it's going to be. So yeah I've rambled enough for now. peace

I found this one in Yahoo's AP gallery. Jacqui confirmed the LGW spotting. Congrats on the hell of a snapshot. Too bad it couldn't have been a save. peace

Who said anything about LGW? More than just me and "my slappies" held that opinion. peace

Last I heard is he's shooting for just after the Olympic break (sucks that he'll have to miss the Games themselves). peace
