    Filppula-Kopecky-Bootland New Force?

http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/PlayerOfThe...21/1316849.html Filppula has been named the AHL player of the week! Way to go Flapjack!! peace

    Hudler....

I'm guessing Jiri is a bit shorter than but probably is around 180, (Grigorenko is 5'10"-ish and tops the scales near 215-220lbs). This is Fehr's rookie season and it could be the AHL hasn't updated his weight from his draft year (Hershey's website lists him at 187 and most of his scouting repots mentioned that he would need to fill out and it appears he slowly is). I'm hopefully going to the Griffins game on the 29th so I can provide a first hand account of Hudler's size in relation to other players. peace

    Filppula-Kopecky-Bootland New Force?

I wonder what's happened with Hudler's line. He's been very quiet the last 3-5 games (relative to his earlier blazing start). peace

    Jakub Kindl and Evan McGrath

Ovechkin is exponentially better than anyone we have in our system. We don't compare. peace

    Jakub Kindl and Evan McGrath

No. It makes YOU wonder. Not me. Detroit doesn't have anywhere near the depth or star quality of any of those teams you compared to them. That and all of those teams' best prospects are currently in the NHL because that's where good prospects go. HF ranked them including players like Crosby, Ovechkin, Eminger, Fleury, Seabrook, Perezhogin, etc... Had injuries not delayed Grigorenko and Kronwall we'd be awfully thin. peace

Powerplay Baaaaaad! Franzenstein is perfect. peace

    Recordings of every game available

I'm moving this to the Trading post for now (analogous to trading game tapes and all that), but I'm not sure how Matt feels with the legality issues of posting this on his site. It may disappear entirely. peace

    Status on Grigorenko and Helm...

As a frame of reference Pavel had 26 points (9 g 17a) in 42 games the season before jumping into the Wings lineup. Igor is sitting at 17 points (6g 11a) in 23 games. His pace has slowed down with some sort of nagging injury, but he's still leading his team and tied for 10th league wide. And according to people who have seen him play he has his speed that he had prior to the accident. Igor is the same age as Pavel was in his development (he would have been 2-3 years ahead without the accident). Unless he's still not recovered and is doing so well in spite of his leg injury I don't see any reason not to bring him over next season. Not to mention we could use a highly skilled speedy right winger. peace

Doubt Igor ever sees GR action. peace

    Stefan Liv

From what I understand Jimmy was a BPA (best player available) when drafted. Yeah, we likely wouldn't get too much outta him since he'll be UFA in two years (or two months if we can't get him signed). We'll see what they do and who stays and who goes. peace

    Stefan Liv

If by cutting loose you mean trade for a pretty package, perhaps. I believe the huge start Lundquist has had along with Liv's huge numbers may be pumping up his trade value if it comes to it (The SEL association with a somewhat older rookie stepping from one league to the next). He had an off year last season, but the year before won the SEL championship. If we could hang on to both Liv and Howard I'd rather see which one takes the bigger next step rather than gambling before we know what we have. peace

    Mark Bell

Are there any signs he and the Hawks don't get along? I'd think he'd be one of the few pieces of that wreck that they might try to hang on to. peace

    Bootland

I'd rather Mowers sit in the pressbox than Bootland. Let Darryl beat up on AHLers for a while. If there is a need for a call up in the lower lines by all means call him up. If there is a need for a call up on the upper lines management is itching to get Hudler up to Detroit. peace

    Bootland

Contract loophole. They didn't sign him. He exercised an option year that was automatically upgraded to a one-way deal (based on a number of games played) when the NHL gave the NHLPA a year of service for the lockout among the CBA concessions. Not only that but the raise in minimum wage almost doubled value of the deal. Mark was all ready to look for work overseas (from what I recall) when his agent called him about the sweet deal that fell in his lap. peace

    Bootland

Mowers is in the pressbox and so will Rivers once Woolley heals up, which ought to be any game now. Though Lebda will likely come back once Manny is cleared to play and Jimmy is sent back to GR. I wouldn't mind Boots on the 4th but I can't see him kicking any of Franzen, Cleary, or Samuelsson off the active roster. peace

    Hudler is on fire!

http://ahl.leaguestat.com/stats/game-summa...game_id=1001058 1st intermission now. 5 and 3 on the year thus far in 2 games and a period. peace

Will Hudler be here by the end of the year?

Nill and the Wings are looking for a way to bring him up if they find a good opportunity. But the way our forwards are playing there is no one they can sit down in order to bring Jiri up. My guess is next scoring line player that doesn't get a point in three games gets scratched. peace

    Jakub Kindl

+/- is not a primary concern. why not? espically for a d-man. That means he's on the ice when a goal is scored. I don't know about you but i prefer my d-men to keep the opposing team from scoring. Man, you're picky. Some people can never be pleased.... He's getting alot of minutes against top lines too -- he's learning to play, thats all. I don't care about plus minus -- you can score alot of points on the pp and few even up and be a minus pretty easily. That and the Rangers are living and dying by the scoring output of Evan McGrath and their powerplay. McGrath is factoring into 63% of Kitchener's goals with his 34 points and 54 team goals. It's a one-man offense so the numbers aren't going to be pretty for the +/-. peace

Will Hudler be here by the end of the year?

All the guys smaller than Hudler in the big show are also considerably faster than him. I think he'll make it but he'll have to be a lot more slippery since he can't skate by and around all of the big boys. He'll have to be smarter than the rest. peace

    Prospect ratings

Good rankings. I'll give it a better look later. But those are pretty good. A little high, in some cases. I pretty much agree. The few that stand out to me are the Bs by Abdelkader Bootland, and Kindl (I'd give 'em Cs at this point). Probably the C by Kopecky as well (D). peace
