He's 24 and doesn't qualify for "prospect" status anymore for Hockey's Future. I do believe he is still a Wings asset, but odds are slim he'll ever cross over. peace
-
We didn't have to sign him to keep from losing him, no. I believe pre-CBA European draftees were given a 4 year buffer (those drafted in '05 need to be signed in 2 years like everyone else). Management just felt he was ready to come to the AHL after his stepping up in the playoffs. peace

http://www.allsports.com/nhl/redwings/stor...pectsWatch.html Yup. peace

Say no to Stumpy! Williams, Ellis, so many options out there to fill up the wings. peace

That's not even the half of it. That guy laying on the ice is 6'8" 230+lbs. Big Snake is 6' and shy of 220lbs. peace

My condolences. peace

up the number by ten and those jerseys would sell faster than they could be made That is so unbelievably fitting. Right up there with Tootoo wearing #22 (if it ever happens) and Satan suiting up with Jersey. peace
-
I don't know about the number but this would be a big seller. peace

I don't believe it was a case of not being able to hang onto players, but more of a case of not knowing which players to hang onto. He's made countless crazy trades. He's traded away Bertuzzi, McCabe, Berard, Chara, Redden, Brewer, Luongo, Jokinen, Spezza (indirectly), Osgood, etc... Half the time he trades away the assets he traded for. peace
-
Milbury was so unbelievably hosed on that deal (among others). peace

A competition Bill Guerin won a few years ago and Ed Jovanovski has competed in. It's all a matter of timing and being able to power through those corners. In game speed is a much better indicator of things. He's shifty and has ok speed but he's not a blazer like Fedorov. peace
-
He has the potential to be as good as Datsyuk has been up to this point. Pavel isn't the fastest guy in the world either, plus speed and jump is something that can be worked on a bit with the proper dedication. He's still very young. He'll mature. Hopefully... peace

The deal outlined killed the rumor. peace

He might not be half as good as Datsyuk but he's likely just as valuable if not moreso. A physical winger that potted 20 goals in Edmonton his first full time season in the NHL. He could be what Morrow is in Dallas and that would be great to have. Plus this wouldn't be a straight up deal. Something else has to come along with Torres, but nothing as obscene as a 1st rounder or Smyth. Unless Lowe suddenly contracted Satheritis. peace

http://www.allsports.com/nhl/redwings/stor...08/04_Ryno.html Both Ryno and Lofberg sound like they could be great if they pan out. Imagine Hank centering a pair of 6'3"+ 200lb+ wingers. That'd be one hell of a Swedish line. peace
-
Are you crazy? Getting two of those out of Edmonton for Datsyuk is pushing it already, but three? I'd take Torres and whatever else it would take to round out the deal (I don't think a 1st and/or Smyth would be that whatever else). peace
-
Yeah, if you're Detroit. Before the words even left his lips the man from Minnesota would've hung up the phone. Well, yeah. That is usually a byproduct of trade suggestions where someone says they'd make that trade in a heartbeat. The other side usually turns it down that fast. peace
-
lol, I wouldn't pay attention to him earlier he suggested Dats and Lang for Gaborik. Wait for the crack to wear off. I read it as Dats or Lang for Gaborik. I'd do that trade easy. peace
-
I'd drop Hudler, Tarnstrom, and Morozov out of the equation. I'd like to hang onto Jiri, and Dick and Aleksey aren't worth it IMO. Somehow make Datsyuk + Meech/??? for Malone, Beech/Kraft, maybe Endicott, work. peace
-
Eh. That deal doesn't do anything for me. peace
-
This rumor is complete crap. Period. peace

No way we get four 1sts because there is no way they'll offer $5M+/yr. Our best bet is an offer just over $4M/yr because it's an offer we likely wouldn't match and we'd get two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd. If the offer is between $3-4M/yr we'd get one 1st, one 2nd, and a 3rd. The compensation for RFAs has dropped dramatically. peace

Right off the bat, I can think of Tomas Sandstrom, whom I didn't care for. He played almost half a season in '96-'97. Birthplace does not a Finn make. To my knowledge Sandstrom is no more Finnish than Robyn Regehr is Brazilian. peace
-
LOL yeah at first I was going to pick a couple out to mention by name but then as I thought about it they all were overpaid (at least those that signed for more than $1-2M/yr). I'd absolutely love to keep him around. Tremendous talent that hasn't fully been tapped yet, but what good is it if we can't surround him with the type of linemates he needs to succeed? peace
-
Do you think that Schneider is worth $3.3M-season??? Every single UFA defenseman signed this offseason has been up to $1M+ overpaid. peace
