Khabibulin AND Thibault is one hell of a tandem... No way that would happen. Thibault is going somewhere, just where... Likely Tampa. lol peace

No, they edited the initial report. I think the problem has been that the US and Canada report the contracts differently and we're looking to Canadian websites for confirmation. US generally writes out "number of years"/"value per year" whereas in Canada they write out "number of years"/"total value of contract" with 2 year deals sometimes it gets confusing cause it could potentially be a great bargain or overpayment depending on how you read it. peace

The Ducks with Kariya and Selanne only made the playoffs twice. Half of those points/games came after Selanne left. Do you want me to list the Hall of Famers that Pavel has played with in Detroit? We aren't putting Pavel down. We are expressing his true value. Most of the signings thus far have been inflated with the guys getting overpaid. That happens when teams bid for your services. Our trouble is that we are bidding against a team that is not operating in our system that has seen Pavel win the League and playoff MVP crowns along with a championship. His value to Dynamo is far greater than his value to Detroit. Personally I'd likely grit my teeth and give Pavel somewhere between $3-3.5M (so long as it doesn't jeopardize Zetterberg's status on the team). peace

Kariya's playoff production. 36 games 14 goals 16 assists 30 points Datsyuk's playoff production. 37 games 3 goals 9 assists 12 points Not to mention that regular season production is just about as lopsided. peace

http://www.allsports.com/nhl/redwings/stor...KopeckyUFA.html Kronwall, MacDonald, Ellis, Bootland, and Kopecky were qualified. Robinson, Groulx, and Ballantyne weren't qualified. I'm surprised Kopecky got another shot and Robinson didn't. Neither had particularly good years but Robinson did have a burst at Syracuse to end the year. Mainly it's his speed that keeps me interested in him. peace

I'm fairly certain the reference was to the city. peace

http://www.allsports.com/nhl/redwings/stor...ftSignings.html They're inked. Whew. peace

Oulahen and Quincey. If Howard stays at Maine he's exempt from having to be signed. If he leaves college we have to sign him. Provided the rules stay the same in the new CBA. peace

Don't forget that one (#5) took the other one (#44) out on a stretcher in the playoffs once. Twas Mironov, if you are referring to the slapper to the chest. Stevie took Pronger out once as well, but I don't think he left on a stretcher. Pronger is one for crazy injuries. peace

I got up to watch today. Roger is a machine. I believe during last year's Wimbledon I made the analogy of Federer and Roddick to Lidstrom and Pronger. One silky smooth and nearly flawless and the other relies on brute force to great effect but not quite as reliable. That analogy held true again today. peace

I like that he has potential to develop further comment. You have any clue how high that potential might be? I've heard of him being clued into becoming a 3rd/4th liner, but is a 2nd line spot out of the question or are his offensive skills not there? peace

That's besides the point I'm trying to make. If not for the car accident Grigorenko would probably have spent next season in Detroit. The reason he isn't, I take it, has to do with him rehabilitating. He could rehabilitate in the AHL just as well. RSL pays a bit more I'd imagine. peace

Datsyuk and Zetterberg did just fine, and if Igor is going to be fully healthy he was considered better than either of the other two. I think he can step in right away when he crosses over. peace

Robinson, Bootland, Kopecky and Groulx in that order. Robinson and Bootland are probably 50/50 for being re-signed and the others 10% or less. Robinson has speed and isn't too shy physically. We need speed just as much as we need a big body like Bootland. peace

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/shownews.js...ontent=h040715A Here's hoping the improvement continues for a few more years so he can do the same in the NHL. peace

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/shownews.js...ontent=j033133A Not entirely sure how big of a deal this is, but it sounds good for us. peace

Traded/loaned to Syracuse. He stunk up the join in GR but then produced at around a point per game with the new team. peace

Signed as UFA with Anaheim the summer of '03. peace

http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2005/04/12/993451.html Also wins Eddie Shore award as most outstanding defenseman in the AHL. peace

Our 3rd 2003 draft choice behind Howard and Quincey who also was voted the top defensive defenseman in the same poll. peace

I hope he stays for a senior year because we don't have a CBA right now. We can't sign him and that would make him a FA and an attractive one at that. peace

Wooooo!!!! peace

It works a tad bit different for kids that play in college. We can't sign him because it would instantly kill his eligibility to play in the NCAA. Players in college are retained by the team that drafted them until they finish college or leave college. Mike Comrie used that loop-hole to squeeze a big contract out of Edmonton (the team that drafted him) because he threatened to or actually did leave college (I'm unsure which it was) two years after his draft year which would have made him an UFA. peace
-
Yes. As long as he stays in college we keep his rights, then we sign him to GR and work our way up from there. peace

Modin is playing with Zetterberg in Sweden right now. Modin has been anything but impressive though. Mark Bell perhaps? Ah, Modin looked damn impressive in the NHL and the World Cup last season. You'd know better than me how he's been playing this year. His numbers didn't look too bad. Hank has been crazy good though. Bell works, though with Arnason and Ruuttu there is also a logjam at the 1-2 center spot unless one of them can move over. peace
