Is Conklin hurt? Because I swear it's shocking to me to see #30 in net tonight.
-
god Kopecky is such a waste.

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.
Reilly replied to rage's topic in General
Yeah, I don't see him turning that down, and I don't see another team out there offering him a better contract than that. -
ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh

You're not the only one. But if that were the case, they should probably move Franzen to the 4th line and start scratching Hudler some nights, too.
-
well, I hope to god Stuart gets a good benching.
-
Osgood's selfish high-stick might have just cost this team the game. He better be prepared to bail them out in the 3rd.
-
wow, coudl Ribero try and sell that high stick any harder? What a girl.
-
Right, but there are plenty of players who haven't won anything, let alone one stanley cup, that have made it into the Hall of Fame. I side with you that the Hall should be for the very best players, the very elite, but in actuality that's not the case. Will Osgood get in? Yes. Should he get in? No.

You can't allow fighting to be in the game and suggest "attacks" like what Ott did shouldn't occur. They go hand in hand. (see: Bertuzzi/Moore, Mcsorley/Brashear) "Rough stuff" as hockey people call it is "part of the game." If you lay a big hit, especially on a star player, expect to have to answer from someone. It's always been like that. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but Ott was "sticking up for his teammate" in that situation.

I'd like the team to add a Gary Roberts-type player (or Gary himself). Someone they can play on the 4th line and goes out to hit people to get things going.
-
Uh, yeah, I don't think a 30 year old man is ever going to punch a 21 year old in this league.
-
This season reminds me of 2002-03. Hopefully they at least win a game in the first round this year.
-
19, actually. And he's in his 3rd year of junior hockey. Plus, Detroit already signed him. They probably hope to play him a year or two in the AHL following this season. It's not that much time to improve. The point is, he got outplayed most of this tournament, especially from the Slovak goalie who went undrafted. McCollum didn't look steady and let a lot of easy goals in. Goals, at this point in time, he should be saving with ease. I'm not saying he should be NHL ready right now -- far from that -- but he's letting in goals that goalies at his age and experience should not let through.
-
Wish they had taken Markstrom. Imagine that beast in net for the Wings. McCollum showed it this tournament he can't handle seeing less than 20 shots a game or going long stretches without seeing action. Playing for Detroit won't help him in that department. I haven't given up on him, but boy, he's got a long way to go still.
-
Goaltending cost them this year. It's been horrible. Unice should have gotten a few starts. McCollum never made the big save. Ever. In a game like tonight when clearly the US team isn't playing their best, your goalie can't let in goals that normally should be saves.
-
yep, McCollum has got WAYS to go. He's not very good against elite players his own age (or younger). He's been shaky the entire tournament and rarely came up with the big save.
-
Does Hossa stand in front of the net? Holmstrom isn't going to be around forever. Franzen will cost about half as much as Hossa. This question is a no-brainer.
-
And how is he doing tonight? He didn't look good in the other games either despite nice looking stats.
-
wow, McCollum has been pretty much garbage so far this tournament.
-
McCollum is giving up 3 goals a game, too. Should fit well with the Wings.
-
Look who he plays with.
-
welp, game's over
-
Well, they managed to pull another one out of their ass.
-
Oh, don't act so surprised. This team has been giving up 3 goals pretty much every game this season. Everyone knows the Wings need at least 4 goals to win.
