No way does Conkin sign a two-way deal with Detroit. At this point, with the signing, and the drafting of McCollum, I don't even care about Howard anymore.

For the people complaining about not having room for the young guys, do you remember when Lilja was paired with Lidstrom on the top line? Remember when this team had Cory Cross and Jason Woolley? I want THE BEST defense, even if that means letting the kids sit a little while longer. I want to see the kids, too. But Holland and Co. aren't idiots. They know what they have. They obviously feel the kids aren't ready. Oh, they always want to win the Stanley Cup.

You don't think any of those 3 defensemen could benefit from Chelios? I think some people are getting their undies tied in a knot. He won't be playing all 82 games. He's a depth guy now. Also, I think Ken Holland knows what he's doing. He knows better than anyone here where those defensemen are in terms of development.

Might be a good Drake replacement, but to suggest he can play on the second line is laughable. I'm sure he'll get a ton of offers, though, and the Wings aren't overpaying for him.

If it's a one year deal, the money isn't the issue. If he wants 7 million for one year, some team will give it to him. Since it's only one year, then he's worth the risk. If he wants more years, his cost per year will go down.

Funny that people criticized Holland and Co. for drafting a goalie in the first round. Howard isn't even a lock for a roster spot next year.
