The two best scoring chances in the series for the Pens (one of which led to a goal) were because of defensemen doing something dumb. It's the one thing I hate about this team. Once they start making mistakes, teams capitalize a lot of the times. It happened in the Nashville and Dallas series'. Yeah, I know, it's nearly impossible to play mistake-free hockey, but some of the mistakes just make me shake my head.

Well, they're hoping getting home-ice match-ups will help generate offense. This might actually help Hank and Pavel get more scoring chanes as well.

I just realized something, IF the Wings win the cup, I hope Lidstrom passes it off to Fisher to hold up.

Complaining about the official's. Saying Ozzy is a diver/actor, Detroit is great at obstruction.

Remember also the cost of getting a player at the deadline. The Wings aren't going to give away young players for rentals anymore. It's not even a question about having salary room, it's about wanting to part with valuable assets. Signing players just because you have cap space doesn't seem like something a team with a vision would do. They know what players they have, they know what players they need. Once Zetterberg is re-signed and the core of this team is in place, I suspect Holland will be willing to roll the dice a bit more. Having said that, this team only made once acquisition in 2002 (Jiri Slegr) and they won the cup. In general, you go back through history and teams that won the cup really didn't add much at the deadline.

I gotta say, the goaltender interference penalty is the most inconsistant penalty in the game. Sometimes contact is allowed, sometimes it isn't, sometimes a 2 min minor is handed out, sometimes it isn't. Players skates can't be in the crease SOMETIMES, but not always, etc... This seriously needs to be bolted down and take away discretion from the referees.

Yep. The only thing I didn't like about the game tonight was Lilja's turnover. Hopefully Cheli gets inserted instead.

I don't know. Sid put up 120 points without Ovechkin. And Malkin had a monster year without Sid. The Pens are where they are right now because of their scoring depth. As good as Ovy is, I don't think the Pens would trade Malkin for him right now. That said, I think if I had a choice between a franchise winger and a franchise center, I'd always take the center.
