As far as prospects go, I thought both Smith and Kindl looked solid. Jan Mursak stood out among the forwards, too. Tatar had some flashes. -

Fedorov is 4th all-time in Red Wings points, his number is going to get retired at some point.

Fedorov is a first ballot hall-of-famer and will have his number retired in Detroit.

If H. Sedin has another year like he did this past season, then I could see them being the team to beat in the West. I actually think there are more question marks in the West than ever before. I think people are forgetting about Nashville, who I believe will have a fantastic season.

Hey, if the goalies want to wear big pads, fine. Let's just make the nets bigger to compensate for their pad increase.

I didn't expect them to win this series, but I didn't expect them to s*** the bed, either. What's funny is Detroit could be up 3-0 if it were for a couple mistakes in each game, so it's not for a lack of talent that they're down. Oh, and you can't get to the conference finals with rookie goaltending, not that Nabokov has looked great, either. All three regulation Shark goals were bad goals, IMO.

For some reason I've got a bad feeling about this game. Detroit doesn't have a clear advantage anywhere whatsoever. This just seems like another set up for disappointment. This franchise loves losing to teams in the playoffs it should handily beat. Besides, even if they do win in Phoenix, I don't think this year's team can handle San Jose, Chicago, or Vancouver. We shall see.

Teams that get hot goaltening going into the playoffs rarely with the Stanley Cup. I know what you're saying. Giguere in 03, Kipper in 04, Roloson in 06, for example. Eventually, if this team is to success, they're going to have to, you know, play well.
