For the Wings, not for the Sharks.
-
For the rest of the season, the Sharks play: Phoenix: 2 Los Angeles: 1 Colorado: 1 Anaheim: 2 Edmonton: 1 Calgary: 1 All beatable teams, and you've got to figure they'll only lose maybe two more times the rest of the year. I was going to post the remaining schedule for the Wings, but they just lost to the Islanders, so any team they play is a potential loss. The Wings can only afford maybe one more regulation loss.

Why are you people surprised?
-
NHL.com lists Dan Cleary as taking a "Protective equipment" penalty. What is that?
-
So this Gustavsson fellow is the new Brunnstrom this offseason? Can't wait.
-
Regardless as to where the defense was, Osgood needed to stop that. Hossa had him tied up to some extent. The shot was very week.
-
I'm not gonna say this team is done for. But NO ONE should be shocked should they lose in the first round.
-
How many wake up calls does this team need? They suck, or rather, they're not as good as last year. Fans just need to accept that. A two goal lead last season was money in the bag. Not this year.
-
Wings need win the Western Conference because they don't want to play Calgary or Sanjose in the second round...if they even make it out of the first.
-
It's not like Detroit is the only team avoiding Russian players right now.

Forget the deadline, the OFF SEASON is where its at?

Players I'd dump: Samuelsson Downey Hossa Chelios Kopecky McCarty Player I'd make available for trade: Hudler Filppula Stuart Lilja Meech Maltby Lebda Players I'd resign Franzen Conklin Sorry, this team can't afford a star #1 goaltender. The only chance the Wings have of acquiring one is when Luongo is an UFA in 2010 and Lidstrom's salary comes off the books. That's their only window, and who knows what Luongo will do by then. They're just going to have to go with Osgood/Conklin duo again next year. As for Rafalski, yeah, he's been horrible defensively this year, but I'd rather keep him than trade him for $6 million worth of spare parts from another team. They won't get useful value for him. He played well last year, and throughout most of his career, so I think it would be better just to see what he does next season. -
What were your expectations? He had 13 goals, 55 points (tied his previous career high) and was a +27. Yes, it's more than just getting points, but he did what he is good at. Skating, passing, and playing the point on the Power Play, which he excelled at. I would only start worrying about Rafalski if he stopped producing points, because that's his main job.
-
Eh, he did great last season, and they won the cup. Lots of other teams would love to have that happen. I was pretty much done with Schneider when he left. They needed a change. Sure, Rafalski, like many, is having a below-average season. I'd be more concern with contracts for Stuart, Filppula, and Cleary before I worried about Rafalski's. He's only signed for 3 more years after this season, so that isn't too bad. That said, I think a huge part of the problem is the absence of McClellan.
-
Jesus Christ, they still have to play this team one more time this season? You all better pray the Wings don't have to play this team in the playoffs, because it has "upset" written all over it.
-
If the Wings were going to aquire Bouwmeester, you'd have to start with, at least, Kronwall, Hudler/Filppula, and a 1st. I don't know if Holland has the balls to do something like that. Then they would have to find a way to fit him under the cap for next season.

Calgary needs to shed payroll first!
-
Just want Gary Roberts.
-
Go to 1:50. Anyway, I'd like to see Gary Roberts here. That's what I want.

http://slapshot.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/...vak-extraligas/ Such a wonderful player to watch. Had a laser of shot, too. Too bad he could never stay 100% his entire career.
-
Conklin has played very well the past two seasons. Who says he wants to stay in Detroit? If he gets a big, multi-year offer from another club, he's taking it.
-
Why did Miettinen get a penalty on that play again? He clearly got interfered with, which caused him to fall over with the stick coming up.
-
He makes what? 700K a year? Give the guy a break.
-
Has the goaltending really been that bad? I can't watch the game, but I find it hard to believe the 5-0 deficit is becase of Conklin, given how bad the defense has been all season.
-
The same people who are saying this team should have kept Quincey are probably saying to trade Howard right now, too.

Why were Franzen, Meech, Leino, Samuelsson, and Rafalski out there for the final minute?
