    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

As of 2008, 240 players, 97 builders and 15 on-ice officials have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. There are currently 96 retired numbers in the NHL.

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

http://www.detroithockey.net/history/retired.php Retired numbers are a rare thing indeed... look at the rafters and ask, seriously, "who belongs with them?" More than half the suggestions for the Hall of Fame won't ever make it either, maximum four players a year.

Would you want Crosby on the Wings?

I wouldn't want Crosby on the Wings, sure I know he is a great player, but realistically I don't think he would work well in our system. But, imagine for a moment that the Wings got him instead of Hossa, would we be better off for it?

Would you want Crosby on the Wings?

Yeah, I guess it was a pretty silly question, but we have time before the next round, and it even got a lurker to join! On a small tangent, since logic has been brought up, all the best players do not the best team make. The thing about it, is that whether or not the Wings would want him is moot. The Pens aren't likely to get rid of him -- EVER. Why would they? Asking how Sid would fit into this team is little different than asking if Gordie would, since neither are going to happen. I found the opinions expressed to be interesting for the most part. thanks.

    Ladies equivalent to playoff beard

I expect a lot from Datsyuk tonight

A goal and two assists is big stuff, but its totally possible. I'll miss not being able to watch.

    Ladies alternative to playoff beard

I know there are more, but 55's response was fantastic. PS. The beard already itches, I'm jealous.

    Avery punches Varlamov in face

I thought the clip I saw was 3 - 0 in the playoffs... I didn't think Avery was poison on the Wings and I don't now, though I think he has turned into a poor sport I can't hold anything against him from doing his thing in the playoffs, though it didn't work.

    The Ducks

How about just taking off the red lenses altogether; winning the cup has always taken work. The Ducks are just about as scary in my eyes, beating them injury free seems distant, and that is important stuff to think about.

    Hasek's back

He is the Cheli of netminding, and a fantastic sportsman. I wish him all the best, and I'm jealous of everyone who gets to watch the magnificence that we will undoubtedly miss. Please, post links if you find them.

    Ladies alternative to playoff beard

What did I suggest; what have I done... Most important, the page should attach the history to Redwings fans, and discussion on this site last year. 55, I think there are a couple other bead users; I enjoyed your description.

    The Ducks

Based upon the performance of our grinders particularly in game one, I feel much more confident about a potential match-up with the Ducks; a team that has seemed able to out monkey the wings on the ice. The dump and chase doesn't bother me so much, but against teams that seem to systematically use it to injure opponents scares me. I am far less worried about the Sharks now, ironically enough, because they are a much better team now that they try to play a puck possession (a la Redwing offense) San Jose now tries to out play their opponents. They are hard to beat, but you don't have to worry about being out gooned in the process. I am not convinced that the Ducks are any more respectful now than they were a couple of years ago, and I don't think I will ever feel safe as long as Pronger is taking liberties on the ice.

    Ladies alternative to playoff beard

Just to be clear, I am not against wearing playoff bracelets. I admit it took some persuasion last year, and 'I didn't get it' until I saw some photos with all the beads and what not. I am curious, if any of you are afraid of running out of any of the letters, and how you decide to use first initial, last initial, or first and last? Are you coming up with any sort of official (or not) guidebook? Anyone think about putting it up on the Wiki?

    Ladies alternative to playoff beard

I won't rehash the same argument from the past, and I won't use loaded words like "cute," but seriously can you do your bracelets without challenging the integrity of the playoff beard? I was so hoping this thread would die, but can you just start a new one, Playoff Bracelets, and just not mention beards. You can put your photos and everything there, and probably deal with a whole lot less hate over it in the process. Thanks.

    Break out the Brooms

I think there is an outside chance the Sharks could really upset the Ducks, but really don't see a sweep in the West. In the East, maybe the Habs blow their lead in the game they get it, but its gonna be tough to just out right drop a team with their legacy. I say, there is a bigger chance of St. Louis making it to the second round than predicting sweeps in this one.

    12/18 GDT: Red Wings 6, Sharks 0

I am looking forward to the chance of seeing this game as well. I fly back to California on the 9th maybe I should go ahead and buy tickets... I haven't actually made it to the tank yet.

Johan Franzen gets his 100th Point

Not HOF, but a career of five or six hundred points is pretty good. All things considered, however, I get your point, and have a hard time predicting when he might even get to 100 goals (hoping for late next season) given that he is somewhat prone to injury.

Edited because I had Nabakov confused with Khabibulan.

    Lidstrom using warrior equipment?

I wouldn't say first, but it has been a long time. There used to be lots of questions about sticks when Shanny was still on the team, especially when Hull was on the team... lots of questions about blades and Lucky Luc if I remember correctly as well. But, it does seem like the type of discussion here has changed. I am curious who (if anyone) uses Nike products anymore, I think I remember Feds did for a while?

Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All

I think some people just fail to understand the evolution of hockey after the cap (and other changes as well). Sometimes you lose players to changing philosophies, but you know in the case of Shany we didn't lose a gritty power-forward, we lost a former gritty power-forward... I don't want to run down the line of each and every player that we lost, how we lost them, and why we can't get someone else like that again. I remember some really tough teams in the late 90's. Martin Lapoint wore 20, he was tough, and I would love to have more guys like him. But, the team can't just buy everything anymore. If you don't fit you aren't in sometimes its philosophy and sometimes its salary. The worst gooning I have seen in recent years, was San Jose and then Anaheim (before winning the Cup) an enforcer would not have stopped it, and the powerplay didn't either. What do you do or say then? I say, changes have to be made league wide, and you might not see some of the grit you love but the game will be better for it. [Note: I think there should be no-touch icing to.]

    Igor Larionov's Daughters

I don't remember reading anything about this. But, http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/01/la...make_ameri.html There voices aren't bad, and they ain't hard on the eyes either. Must have been an exciting year, to bad for his loss though. http://www.alyonkaanddiana.com/

    NHL back on ESPN?

I think ESPN has gone above expectations for coverage of the NHL since Gary Butthead tried to milk a sweeter deal. ESPN took the gimmicks the FOX was trying to use out of the game, or at least they agreed the fans didn't need the streak... When I get back to the states again I will be way happier if there are games on E and E2.

    Claude Lemieux

If by well known you mean some people said, then ok... but, when Lemiux was questioned about these reports he said, "I never tried calling Draper." Really you call yourself a Wings fan and hope Mac's career is ended in the minors? I think you may find another website better suited to you. If his career is defined by one goal how come I can think of half a dozen goals that could be the one you are referring to? His career is probably best embodied by his work off of the ice TBH. Darren was always a fan favorite, and did many great things for the community. I would say on ice he is known for his hard work. He may have only scored one hat-trick (or at least only one I can remember) and he may not have ever been considered a true heavy weight, but he was not a player that sucked. I'll wish CL luck in getting back to the NHL but I don't think he'll be able to make it in the new game. Its just not the kind of hockey he played during his career anymore, and I don't think there will be much room for him anymore.
