I think I lost IQ points while reading this. Thank goodness you are not the GM.

let me see i gotta say something now. Damn multiple posts. I think you cut Willis. It is obvious that he just doesnt have it and then you play out mags the rest of this year and buyout the contract towards the end. Incentives boost his salary to $33 million over the next two seasons if he plays 135 games or 500 at bats. You do everything you can so he doesnt reach that mark.

i still get chills looking at Raburn's game winner last night on the highlights. Reminds me of a pudge comeback during the miracle 2006 season. link cant find the video tho. One of my favorite memories from that 2006 year

MLB most ejected managers Looks like Leyland has his work cut out for him. Hard to believe he is not in the top ten.

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

I heard rumors of Shaq going to Cleveland to play with Lebron. Whether or not it can be pulled off is a different story. -
got to fix the corruption first in the city of Detroit.
-
I doubt they would just let it happen like that. Tigers and Lions play right next to each other and they dont play at the same time. Playoff time would be the only tricky part.

the problem is we have $50 million tied up to players who shouldnt even be on the field (willis, magglio, bonderman, guillen, robertson). I think they need to clear that up first in order to have money to hand out to free agents to come here. I doubt any of those mentioned names are demanded on the market now so cutting them seems to be a very strong option. Magglio bugs me the most. He never was a strong power threat, but he always seemed to bat for average and get on base. Not even doing that right now. Hell in my season with the tigers in MLB09:the show....magglio has only 11 hrs and 40 rbis at the halfway point of the season. But he is batting .325, Thats fine with me and havent even thought of trading him in that season because he is productive. Oh and I have him batting 6th in the lineup.

nice win over the cubbies. What does everyone think the Tigers need to do about Ordonez?? Obviously he cannot reach his contractual bonus by getting 135 games or 500 at bats. I heard this on the radio and it makes sense. Leyland put magglio in the 7th hole today and pulled him for defensive reasons later in the game. If he continues with this and gives Magglio a day off every week til the end of the year.....Magglio will have 100-120 games played barring injury and around 450 at bats (figure 2 at bats a game...5 games a week played for 15 weeks) I dont think their will be any takers for Mags from other clubs and i am not sure if the tigers cut him, they wouldnt owe the remaining money. I think that if he fails to reach his incentives, their is a buyout for $3 million to end the contract. I think that would be the wisest course of action because there is no way Magglio can reach his incentives and trigger $18 million for next season alone. Hell that is more than Pujols makes.

dont forget Ty Lawson from UNC. I have seen a lot of mock drafts that have the pistons picking him. I wouldnt mind it. -
I dont think the dodgers have the pitching. I dont doubt they have the manager to take them there, i just think that they can be beat in a short series.

Pens barely made the playoffs this year...it took a coach getting fired to get them in. They didnt even win their divison. Oh and chalk it up to stanley cup hangover. Every team goes thru it and the Pens are no different. Lot of the recent cup winners (tampa, carolina, anaheim) come back the next year and are not even the same team, in some cases...not even make the playoffs.
-
The cards are way better than the brew crew. Cards are a playoff team. Try going thru Carp, Wainwright, Pujols, Ludwick come playoff time. Depending on if the Mets, Phillies, and Dodgers get their team back together....the cards will make it back to the world series.

I especially liked the sunday finale. I have JV and Gallardo for my fantasy baseball team so i was just hoping for a pitchers duel. after Inge hit the homer, i shouted at the tv "ok, no more runs by either team"
-
if anyone doesnt get in this year, they have an excellent shot at getting in for the 2010 class. Here is a preview of the players and their last team they played for: Matthew Barnaby, Dallas Stars Peter Bondra, Chicago Blackhawks Sean Burke, Los Angeles Kings Eric Lindros, Dallas Stars Scott Mellanby, Atlanta Thrashers Joe Nieuwendyk, Florida Panthers Mike Ricci, Phoenix Coyotes Patrik Stefan, Dallas Stars Pierre Turgeon, Colorado Avalanche Maybe Nieuwendyk is the only one who approaches hall of fame material.

isnt one winter classic game in boston and olympics in vancouver enough special events for the NHL next season.

I can't believe no one has mention the California Golden Seals logo yet. or the KC scouts. or the Islanders Gordon fisherman jersey. IMO, this has to be the worst logo.
-
Link Not really surprised if this is true. Just goes to show you how inmature Crosby is.

Run Smith, Catch Calvin. Lions offense will be defined by that. If they don't produce, it may not necessarily be smith or calvin's fault.
-
is it me or does the offense look totally better? I like the o-line pickup of Jansen and if Pettigrew can block like a 6th lineman...he could be a steal in the draft. I think it boils down to if they can provide running room for Smith and they can pass block so that the QB (pick anyone) can throw to Calvin. The offense can be very exciting and score a lot of points. Which is good because the defense looks like it wont be able to stop anyone.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AufK...p&type=lgns WOW!! #4 has asked to be let go from the Pack, virtually saying that he wants to play somewhere else. I cant even imagine seeing #4 play for Chicago or Minnesota going against GB. Wonder what NFM#25 and other Pack fans in here think about this. Can you imagine if #4 came to Detroit?!?!?!
-
Yes i do. By Port Huron. Everyone at work wants to beat him up anyway so I would probably get people to look the other way. We got to wear our hockey shirts last friday. He was the only one in a pens sweater.
-
it sucks when you see the Pens do all the things with the cup so far. Quickly turned to the Tigers but the Tigers played the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend and what do they do sunday...they honor their pengiuns and show off the cup. AGGGGHHH!! I got one obnoxious co-worker at work who repeatedly reminds me that he picked the Pens to win and that last friday's game was the best hockey game he ever saw. I gave him little credit and said "Pittsburgh played good, they deserved the cup and crap.....the puck just didnt go in for the wings". But everyday he reminds me about the Pens and how great Sidney is. I think its only fair that by the end of the summer, I at least beat him up once.

go ahead and have octopus tonight. Drink from a WHINE glass too. Your gonna need it because the WINGS WILL BE DRINKING FROM THE CUP!!! GO WINGS!!

I think this year is all about Dantonio for MSU. Michigan State has had on paper "easy" schedules before and failed to deliver. Lose to a team like Indiana or LA Tech. With a lot of talent departed, this will surely be a sign if this program is in the right direction like a lot of people believe it is. Plus an excellent shot at going for back to back wins against Big Blue.
