a lot of people say their is no guarntees that they will be good with this firing but how can they really get any worse? No NFL...NO NFL team is gonna let their franchise be this bad for such a long time under the same President and GM. Millen's 31-84 record will sadly stand the test of time. No one is gonna get that long of a tenture without results. I think the worst things the Lions do now is actually WIN games this year. Tank the season. Lose all games if needed. Get a top 5 draft pick and hire a GM who knows how to build a team with this pick. Miami took Jake Long last year, Atlanta took Matt Ryan, Oakland took Run DMC. All those teams are much improved with those selections. Take a player to build this team around and hopefully we can see results in 3 years. This is the NFL. Everyone wants to go to an NFL team, regardless of what team it is. It's only the rare instances where Eli Manning or a John Elway come along and refuse to play with their originally drafted team. Blow this team up. Gut it out from the inside. Ford doesnt have to sell the team but at least hand over the keys to Bill Ford Jr.

Schottenheimer is a good rebuilder of football teams. Thats why I would want him here.

I am fine with either Cowher or Schottenheimer. Give them both GM and head coach. Hell, lure Pete Carroll away from USC and pay him a ton of money.

Lions lack what every NFL team needs.....heart. No NFL player wants to be known as someone that lacks effort or has no heart but this team does...and I dont see anyone caring. I don't blame all the players for this tho. That has to squarely lie on management. Fire Millen and Marinelli. Fire them today and maybe this team can turn it around for next year. Ford will not sell his team even tho everyone wants him. The least he can do is put someone in charge that ACTUALLY knows what they are doing. They need to do that now. oh and Dick Jauron has his team playing well and Buffalo is 3-0. I wish we had him running this team now.

wow! had the whole day off and decided to skip the Lions game. Looks like I made the wise choice. This team is the offical joke team of the NFL. Never gonna be good, not gonna happen.

The one thing I saw out of ND is that the team has a lot of promise and loaded with sophmores. Interesting to see how this team progresses and how it is next year and the year after when these sophmores are juniors and seniors. In todays game, when Clausen went back to pass...if there was pressure, he went down...if the line held up, he was fine. That probably was the biggest factor of the game.

another great performance by Ringer. Little worried that there offense basically is Ringer and no one else. Passing game has to improve. Really impressed with the defense and the ability for MSU to grind games out. This game and the one last weekend, wouldn't have been won under John L. Michigan State is in position to be a real threat in the Big Ten. They are a physical team, they play tough and with Ringer, can play the ball control game. Next 3 games for MSU should put them in prime position for them to make a run for the Big Ten title. @ Indiana, home against Iowa, and @ Northwestern....if MSU can't beat those teams, there is no way they can contend with OSU, PSU and Wisconsin.

I think they should pull out a win this week, but still fumble the ball at least 5 times.

Ohio State is still the top team in the Big Ten. I wouldnt worry so much about them embarrassing the Big Ten, rather just focus on your team. Michigan is embarrassing the Big Ten more. Besides, lots of good teams get crushed by the Trojans. Thats why they are #1.

And you guys don't cheer when Ohio State loses??? Come on. Being a team sports fan means you cheer for 2 teams...your team and whomever your biggest rival is playing. This happens on all levels, no matter what team you have.

Thats my point. Let's build a respectable team first. The way this franchise is...just to flirt with the playoffs is enough for me right now....come on 8-8. I dont care if it means breaking this team completely down and leaving just Calvin Johnson and Ernie Sims...build it around those two players and get rid of everyone else.

Mississippi State right. Lot of Spartan fans out there but they lay dorminat because of the years of being as you like to call us "little brother". Look at the Cubs for example. Now they have won jack s*** in the last 100 years but wear the "we are the cubs, we are the lovable losers" like a badge of honor. I am very vocal and not afraid to show my support for the green and white....even tho I am surrounded by maize and blue. I personally dont see why everyone is complaining about being on the list. Being on the list also means you are passionate about your team. I know people that were looking forward to this year for the Wolverines, despite not having anyone...despite having a whole new system..and despite a team that will challenge the bowl streak your team has...yet they still were like "Michigan is #1". I agree with Blak that DickRod will be a good college coach. I just think the growing pains will be long before it happens. Hence that is why I want to pile on Michigan now...might not get a chance to for long. I also was talking to another Spartans fan at work yesterday. We talked about how Michigan State needs Ringer like humans need air. I am convinced that without Ringer, this team is shot. We also talked about the Michigan-ND game. We didnt praise ND, but talked about how Michigan just killed themselves over and over again. We also talked about McGuffie too. How a white guy can run like that and have a terrified look on his face with every carry. McGuffie is gonna be a good back at Michigan. I think the Wolverines have to build the team around him in the next few years similar to what they did with Hart.

What kills me is that these are Marinelli's guys. He got the guys he wanted, despite how ridiculous it seemed. Time for Marinelli to go along with Millen, who is the worst NFL executive EVER. They need to open the bank to allow whomever wants to run the team to run the team. Get Bill Cowher to be GM & Head Coach....Get Marty Shottenheimer to build the team. Get someone with some F**King experience. I actually like shottenheimer. Yeah he sucks in the playoffs but he knows how to build a team from the ground up. I think this franchise has hit rock bottom ...how can they get any worse.

back to the Packers thread. I still think Dallas is the best team in the NFC but the game next Sunday night is gonna be huge. Might even decide who gets homefield advantage in the NFC championship game. Too bad Dallas and Green Bay didnt make it both to the NFC championship game last year. The season game was one of the best games of the previous season.

You know what...that just might work. Remember a few years ago how Artose Pinner had career day against the Lions for the Vikes. I could easily see that happening again.
