I agree. When Threet came in, he missed some WRs but he was right on. It looks like to me like this team needs to hang out with each other more, that the timing isnt there. Utah is also they were able to escape with a win. That game wasnt even that close. Penalties and turnovers almost cost the game for the Utes.

no shocker there. Why wasnt this post put with the offical Lions thread?
-
who do you want as Michigan's QB then? Sheridan? Cone? Feagin? Might not be long before all 4 play.
-
I hate to say I am right. This could be a long season for Michigan. Only plus I saw today for the Wolverines is there defense was strong in the 2nd half and nearly was the difference in the game. Is Threet the QB now? Sherdian was solid early but just fell completely off the chart in the 2nd quarter.

damn. Florida beats up Hawaii, 56-10. So much for the Rainbows going undefeated this year.

does anyone realize that of like 120 foreign players, 45 of them are from South Korea?? That of the top 30 money leaders, 11 of them are from South Korea?? More importantly, does anyone care about the LPGA?? The answer is obvious NO. Thats why they are doing this. Make them learn English, make them be human-like and make them interact with fans and sponsers. NASCAR is one of the most successful individual sports out there. Why? The players are marketable. They interact with fans and sign autographs...meet and greets and all that jazz. For NASCAR it is working, and the LPGA is trying to do the same. Don't laugh at this NHL fans, but the NHL might not be that far off. The NHL isnt exactly #1 to a lot of sports fans. Perhaps if they talked to fans more or interacted with fans more, it actually might do good for the game.

The olympics are less than 40 days away!! I love the olympics so I am looking forward to this. My favorite is the track and field and swimming competitions.

What an amazing victory after all the tragdy during these games for that team. I am digging this closing ceremonies so far...i love how they just let the athletes enter the stadium anyway they want. One of the best things about the closing ceremonies> What is everyone taking away from these games as their lasting memories? Two athletes come to mind for me. Phelps and Bolt. Phelps owned the pool and showed me why he literally lives in the pool. Bolt showed me how fast lightning can travel. I am gonna go thru some major withdrawals starting tomorrow. I can hardly believe that 16 days have come and gone already.

I am not saying that China didnt do great in these games, but its hard to say the US didnt do great either. 51 gold medals is insane tho!
-
china won more gold but the US won more medals.
-
Nice to see the US women get the gold in hoops. Add that to the gold in woman's soccer. Overall, the US women did well but just think of what could have been. US women got the silver in softball, water polo, and volleyball. I think volleyball was the only one were they were clearly beaten by a better team.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...N?urn=nhl,98585 Gotta love the suggestion that all games should be played outdoors. The playoff beards and mulletts thing can be kinda scary tho.

technically the title of "world's greatest athlete" goes to Bryan Clay for winning the decathlon.
-
I haven't seen anything. Thanks to NBC here, what your telling hasnt happened yet and will be shown in like 10 hrs from now. Did Michael Phelps run the 200m?
-
Kinda sad that Natalie Coughlin won 6 medals in these games, and gets almost no attention due to Phelps. I too was inspired by Torres and still amazed that she didnt win gold in the 50 free. As far as your opinion on how fat our pro athletes are is kinda offensive. Have you checked out the shot put or hammer throw in track. Have you checked out some of the weightlifting athletes. They are wayyy overweight and still are considered "in shape" athletes. With football, yes...our lineman are generally fat and thats by design for that position. No one wants a 6 ft 150 lb offensive lineman. With baseball tho, be careful. David Ortiz for example is not American.
-
I agree. Brian Jordan was a better 2 sport athlete than Michael Jordan.
-
i am just saying I cannot give the greatest athlete ever props to someone who just became the #1 player in the world. Phelps has been the top swimmer easily in the past 4 years. I dont think Phelps is the greatest athlete, but is he the top athlete right now....probably. He is miles above Nadal and miles above Tiger Woods IMO. Maybe only Kobe Bryant can come close.
-
up to this year, he wasnt even the best in his sport.
-
I must agree with this post. Phelps is the great but I will keep him as the greatest swimmer and olympian...not the greatest athlete. Hell this is probably the most dominant performance ever by an athlete. He is as high as you can go IMO, dominating in one sport. Probably just took Tiger Woods off the top of top US athlete. Should be a lock for SI man of the year and all other sports awards. Thorpe certainly deserves to be consider the greatest athlete ever. Since I never saw Thorpe, I will throw another athlete who I saw in my lifetime that I can consider the greatest. His career was cut short by injury but when he was on top of his game, he dominated football and baseball. The athlete: Bo Jackson

The Official 2008 Green Bay Packers Thread
timothy1997 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in Other Sports
Obviously the pressure to succed is on Rodgers a ton. Question tho, who has replaced a legend and actually done well? Steve Young is the only one that comes to mind. Montana was injuried and Young filled in nicely, it wasn't a complete gamble like the Pack are doing with Rodgers. What does Rodgers have to do in order for the Packer fans?? Win the Super Bowl??? -
phelps = greatest olympian ever
-
Ok someone has too much time on their hand. Just face it that the US is awesome in the summer olympics.

You knew this poll was coming. To me nothing beats the 97 cup but this is the most surprising for me to win. Everyone I know that hates the Red Wings kept saying for years (a) wings are too old, (b) wings greats have all left (shanahan) or retired (yzerman) (c ) wings can't win under the salary cap. This cup is thrown right in the face of all those claims. 97 is the sweetest with this one being a close 2nd.
-
real simple question: Is Phelps the greatest swimmer ever? I think you can definately claim he is the best American swimmer, but now I think you can move that into of all time swimmer categories.

just got back from tonight's tigers game. Great seats with them being 4 rows back right in upper deck. Got to see all the action right in front of me. What a complete bullpen meltdown. Miner pitched outstanding and the Tigers should have won that game. Up 4-1 entering the 7th, you gotta go to your shutdown relievers. Problem is the Tigers don't have any. I officially have had it with this team and Zumaya tonight. Going to tonight's Tigers game was the only reason why I still watched and paid any interest in the Tigers. I am done now.
