They have to cut back money because they are not going to get as many people to the CoPA as they did last year. That was BEFORE all the big moves this offseason. Tigers are taking a few huge steps back in order to compete again 2-3 years down the road.

TMZ announced they will have their own divison based on the sporting field. Sad because this will surely take away what little privacy athletes have left. With Tiger Woods, Pacman Jones, and Michael Vick...its no surprise that there are stories there. There is interest there. What do you think about this? Is this going to change the sport at all? I personally think the NHL needs a villian. Something like what is happening to Tiger Woods or Michael Vick wouldnt be the worst thing to happen to the sport. Yeah there is Sean Avery but that needs to be taken to another level.

I agree on the whole privacy thing being a big issue but its nothing new. With the new improvements in technology, the world is getting smaller. TMZ is here to stay where you want it or not. And as long as their is fascination for a life outside your own, it will continue to expand. Oh and the NHL needs to promote their game...whether that is something positive for the sport or not.

all i want for christmas is for the Lions to lose the rest of their games and elevate their draft picks. Picking #2 right now which isnt too shabby so I want them to stay there. Mock drafts I have seen include the Lions picking Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma (#2 best DT behind Suh) and 2nd round pick in Dunlap, the dominating DE from Florida. They get those 2 players and I think you got the making of a strong defensive line.

SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? This post is a load of $**t. To compare DD to Millen is insane. Millen left the lions worse then he got them and the team was never any good during his rein. DD has brought the Tigers back to them forefront. DD has made trades that have worked, acquistions that have paid off. The problem with the Tigers is the team has gotten stale since the World Series run. Do you know how much money is tied down to dead arms like Willis, Robertson, Bonderman?? That is one of the reasons why the granderson move NEEDED to be done. Not that it should be done, NEEDED to be done. No one wants Cabrera, tigers werent gonna part with Verlander, and no one else had any value in the trade market. As far as the Yankees and Red Sox complaint, I am with you but nothing can be done. Baseball is what it is and you can either accept it or not. Sounds like you made your decision and the Tigers organization is better off without fans like you. Enjoy getting off the bandwagon. As for me, i hope these moves pay off for the Tigers. I really do. iI am actually looking forward to this upcoming season. See if taking a step back this year will pay off in the future. Let us not forget that DD took the Marlins from a world series title, broke the team down to its core and rebuilt a team to win the world series. GO TIGERS!!

cincy doesn't have the academics for the Big Ten. The Big Ten needs to have a conference championship solely on the fact that the conference is missing out. The Big Ten conference is a joke around the nation. I think they need a school like Pittsburgh to come on board. Make a good rivalry between Penn State and Pitt. Problem I see is where do you draw the divison line. Like this East Pitt Penn State Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Northwestern West Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa Illinois Indiana Purdue or this North Minnesota Wisconsin Michigan Michigan State Ohio State Illinois South Pittsburgh Penn State Indiana Purdue Northwestern Iowa You tell me how you would break the conference up in divisons.

Back in 2004, Brian Kelly was a sought after coach after leading Grand Valley State. Eastern and Central were both looking for head coaches at the time and Kelly met with EMU. They offered him the job and he accepted. Just hours before the press conference, he turned them down and took the CMU job. My guess is he took the offer from EMU to CMU and demanded they match or beat. Its not quite as bad as Saban who says everyplace he is that its his "dream job". It sucks because that is how you build a program in a minor conference. You get a really good coach and when you lose that coach, bring up his assistants. That is how CMU turned things around quickly.

I never liked Brian Kelly for what he did to Eastern Michigan. People forget that he backed out of the EMU job just hours before the press conference scheduled to announce him head coach. Brought back too many Nick Saban memories. Still a good coach tho.

I find it hard to question DD with the moves he has made and the success he has achieved with the Tigers organization but IMO he better get this one right. Getting Polanco, trading Joyce for Jackson, drafting Verlander, Granderson, Porcello, not trading away Inge, getting Cabrera...the list goes on and on with what he has done for this team and I think the tigers were getting a bit stale, they were too loyal to a lot of Tigers who in fairness, should be gone (Ordonez, Robertson). In other words this trade and future trades this offseason are going to either earn him praises or get him fired. 2010 is a wash with all the young talent but 2011 this team better compete for the divison title.

dude, neither team in the twins and the tigers got to 90 wins. That almost never happens with a divison winner. What did the Twins do in the playoffs?? Oh yeah, got swept right out. Face it neither team deserved to be in the playoffs and sadly 1 team did. Do you really think those tigers minus Polanco, Rodney, Lyon would be as good as the 2009 team. Oh and if they had the same season this year as last, they probably should be 5+ games out in the divison race.

i understand the frustration but I am not surprised in this move. Granderson & Jackson were probably the only players who had value in the market. What else did you want the Tigers to do?? here is the latest rumor Curtis Granderson to Yankees Edwin Jackson, Ian Kennedy to Dbacks Max Scherzer, Dan Schlereth, Austin Jackson, Phil Coke to Tigers Looks like this deal is gonna go down today. Granderson is no longer gonna be a tiger by the end of today.

detroit sports talk radio was talking yesterday about the Yanks might get Jackson AND Granderson from us. If that does happen this offseason, it would take a lot for me to care about this upcoming season. If they dont care, why should I. Also can Roy Halladay please be moved. I got him as a keeper in my fantasy baseball league. Could use 20 wins from him next season.

I would love to see those matchups and find out who the true national champion is. I think BCS knows their system is flawed and hence that is why they threw TCU and Boise State against each other. Heaven forbid if TCU gets a matchup against say Florida and wins. Then everyone who be screaming "see TCU deserved to be in the title game". Also this way the BCS can still say to TCU/Boise State.."well who did you really beat out of the major conferences to be #1". No major conference team has anything to gain by scheduling TCU/Boise State. Just ask Oregon if it was worth it. Ask Michigan if scheduling a top Divison I-AA if its worth it. On the plus side, that is probably the only BCS game aside from the championship game that actually interests me.

The team self destructed after the Iowa game. Biggest problem MSU had in that game was goalline rushing. They couldnt run the ball into the end zone no matter how many downs they had. Winston was running the ball more and more & would have been a much better option than Caper/Baker/Leggett. MSU struggled to find their running game all season and were just finding it, when Winston went down.

2 Spartans kicked off team Just a follow up on the fight. Really surprised that Winston is released. The kid was lucky to stay on the team this year and showed lots of promise. Had an unfortunate injury that IMO cost MSU the Big Ten title. I was looking forward to see him run again next year for MSU but guess thats not gonna happen now. Running game is pathetic for MSU so that has to be a focus in the offseason. Kids are young so hopefully they just need to grow into their shoes. A Caper/Baker backfield is critical to success next year for MSU.
