Bringing in Pudge when no one wanted to go to Detroit. Trading for Polanco when most of the league didn't know who Polanco was. Signing Kenny Rogers when some said there is nothing left in the tank. DD has proven to be a quality GM and someone who I trust 100%. And besdies, its not like the Tigers move in 1986 when they traded 20 year old John Smoltz for 36 year old veteran Doyle Alexander. The tigers just brought in the pieces that puts them in a position to win NOW and in the future.

If Randy Smith was still the GM, then yeah..i would be worried. Under Smith the minor league cupboard was always bare. With DD, they have brought tons of talent to the minor leagues and I have no doubt they will do the same. Also with Porcello, doesnt that addition make Miller expendable. We already got a stud pitcher in the minors grooming for the big stage. Did we really need 2? Don't be surprised if the Tigers don't focus on that from here on out til spring training. I think its an absolute joke that we have to throw a 2 loss team in the NC game, but under the scenario given...you have to. Kansas is not worthy and neither is undefeated Hawaii (even tho I would love to see them in). LSU is next based on their losses in 3OT, their tough schedule, and the simple fact that they won the toughest conference this year in the SEC. And like Lou said, LSU will kill Ohio State. Here is some food for thought for Michigan fans. Had Michigan beaten Wisconsin and Ohio State, Michigan would have been going to the National Championship game.

Ok I thought the BCS picked from top 12-14, not top 16. Under your plan, that scenario could happen. Although it is not given that the Rose Bowl has to have a big ten team. Hawaii will get the nod over Illinois for the Rose Bowl based on the following: #1 People talked about the Fiesta bowl with the Boise State-Oklahoma as one of the greatest games of last year. The unknown can be such a great thing in college football. #2 Add into the fact that Hawaii is an exciting, high powered offense team. #3 and a group likely to travel to the mainland to see a game in California is greater than Illinois going all the way to Pasadena. (had Michigan be a rose bowl contender and not Illinois, this would be a no brainer for Michigan). It's too bad no one posted that link before. Oh wait, I did.

I still don't see why Hawaii wouldn't be in the BCS games based on them being the one consistant team in the whole NCAA divison 1 season. They only won the games on their schedule.

while I agree with you on LSU being in the title game, I am not sure about your other at large teams. Mizzou has 2 losses and IMO, Kansas is not back in to the BCS based on what the Tigers did to put themselves out of the BCS. Also think Arizona State and Hawaii are in over BC and Illinois. Hawaii is a shoo-in based on them being the only undefeated team left and as much as i would love to put them into the title game against the buckeyes because every other team (LSU, Va Tech, Oklahoma, Georgia, Kansas, USC) blew their chances on the field, Hawaii still hasn't played anyone worthy. Throw them in the Fiesta or Rose bowl, but not the title game. Arizona State is .5600 and Illinois is .4200 in the BCS. I find it hard to believe that Arizona State would fall behind Illinois during a weekend when Arizona State won and Illinois was idle.
