So much for this case going unsolved. Police arrested 4 people tonight in connection with Taylor's death. Hope they got the right people.

    2007 Green Bay Packers Thread

Kitna is 2nd best QB in the North. Rodgers isn't even a starting qb and last night might be just a flash in the pan. Did you even see the o-line from dallas last night. They were a beast in the game. Romo had tons of time in the pocket to go thru his progression. Packers have to get a better pass rush when it comes to the NFC championship game if they have any shot. I will agree with you that KGB's injury hurts but every team is hurt in the nfl this time of the year. No excuse. The worst thing the Cowboys did yesterday, was injury #4. #4 will play in the NFC championship game and the cowboys will be prepared for that. Dallas was not prepared for Rodgers.

Thats why I looked for another list. I thought Slap Shot and Miracle are both deserving of being in the top 25 of sport movies of all time.

    Greatest Sports Movie

Mystery Alaska?? You got to be kidding me. Like the NY Rangers are going to play a team in Alaska. Zero chance of that ever happening in real life. I will agree with you on Miracle and Major League as being good sports movies. Invincible I didn't see. Caddyshack is my favorite sports movie ever. according to ESPN, here are the top 25 sports movies by a panel and internet users. link Anticipating that some people here think ESPN sucks when it comes to sports. Here is another #25 list according to moviefone Top 25 #1 Rocky #2 Raging Bull #3 Bull Durham #4 Hoosiers #5 The Natural #6 Caddyshack #7 Field of Dreams #8 Hoop Dreams #9 Remember the Titans #10 The Hustler #11 Slap Shot #12 White men can't jump #13 Pride of the Yankees #14 Rudy #15 Jerry Maguire #16 Brian's Song $17 When we were kings #18 The Set-up #19 Breaking Away #20 The Bad News Bears #21 Chariots of Fire #22 Bang the drum slowly #23 Miracle #24 League of their own #25 Friday Night Lights I agree with this list more than the ESPN one.

While it is up there with the greatest sports movies, I am not about to crown this one #1. Hoosiers or Rocky IMO, is worth of being the greatest sports movie.

Redskins' Taylor dies of gunshot wound

His house was broken into a few days ago prior to the shooting and someone left a knife on the bed. DC ain't exactly a safe area either. I have been to the Miami area, some of it is fine, some of it is not fine. Same as it is in any major city.

last night might as well have been the NFC championship game. Barring an injury or anything flukey, I see Dallas heading to the Super Bowl. I don't see the Giants, Tampa, Seattle, Detroit, or Green Bay winning at Dallas.

Michigan State defeated NC State. Since the big ten-acc challenge, msu is 5-3 and the only big ten team to have a winning record against the acc in the challenge. Go Spartans!!

Redskins' Taylor dies of gunshot wound

While I agree with you that they need to lose the whole "gangster" mentality, it is probably easier said then done. Most of these players have very poor upbringings. They are surrounded early by thugs, just interested in riding these players coattails to their paycheck. When they reach professional status, they are nothing more than a kid who was given his first allowance. They spend the money and/or do stupid stuff with it, that its very rare that they ever lose that past.

such a sad news story. Here is a guy that comes out of "the U", and has all the signs that the "thugs" that come outta "the U" show. He really impressed me last 2 seasons in that he has matured a ton and been a qualify NFL player. So sad to see his life cut so short. He will be missed.

    2007 College Football Season Talk

My point is the Pac-10 winner will be determined this weekend and despite early hype, the winner will have no barring on the championship. That is probably a good thing this year considering every team in the pac-10 beat up on each other and teams like usc, oregon and arizona state can only blame themselves. Thus, the pac-10 winner is irrevelant. I am not saying the playoff scernario is perfect but if the playoff system works for divison 1-aa and divison 2, then why cant it work for divison 1. Too many years we either have teams being left out or like in 2006, people can make a case for either Michigan or Florida in the title game. A playoff system would allow their to be a clear cut #1 on the field where it belongs. My point on Notre Dame and the rest of the Independants is this. You cannot exclude them for a playoff bracket. None of those teams deserve to be included this year but if Notre Dame is one of the top teams, they have every right to take one of the at-large berths for their shot at the title. I don't want anymore special treatment than that. As far as the non-bcs conferences go, every year we have 1 team from the non-bcs conferences make a run. Surely we don't think they are capable of beating #1 in the BCS but they at least deserve a shot. So under this plan, the problem you would have is if Central Michigan made a run and won all the games, winning the championship then. Correct? That is no different than what they do in the NCAA college basketball bracket and tons of people love that tournament

    2007 College Football Season Talk

I have a hard time believing that there are college football games that flat out "don't matter" during the course of the college football season. Michigan's first game is proof that on any given saturday, any team can be beat. If the only goal out there is to go to the Rose Bowl...was 2006 a successful season? Michigan went to the Rose Bowl despite losing to Ohio State. Which is the goal: Going to the Rose Bowl or beating Ohio State? Most years both go hand-n-hand but not in 2006. I made the arguement that because Michigan is Michigan, had they beaten Wisconsin, they would have an outside shot at the Rose Bowl, albeit small. To comment another topic being thrown around here. I like this tournament idea I think this would be awesome for divison 1 football. They would make winning the conference the most important thing as it should be, and still reward teams that finished with great 2nd place finishes. Does anyone really care now that USC, Arizona State and UCLA are battling for the Pac 10 crown this weekend? No. One of those teams is going to the Rose Bowl and honestly, I could care less which one is there. Under this new plan, it would matter a ton. Kinda weird tho seeing Central Michigan taking on Mizzou.

    2007 College Football Season Talk

Here is my idea for a 16-team bracket tournament. --Schools are assigned in order of the BCS ranking system. --Conferences are only allowed to send a max of 3 teams in the tournament. --Schools must have at least 9 wins. --Conference championships and army-navy game must be played thanksgiving weekend. --Seeding would be like NCAA tournament. #1 vs #16, #2 vs #15..etc. --Round 1 games would be at these 8 neutral sites: Charlotte, Jacksonville, Indy, Minneapolis ,Memphis, Tampa Bay, Houston, San Diego --Round 2 games held at these neutral sites: Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit & one of the following locations(perferrably the one that hosted the NC game previous year): Pasadena, Glendale, New Orleans, Miami --Round 3 would be held at 2 of these 4 locations, not used in round 2: Pasadena, Glendale, New Orleans, Miami --Round 4 (championship game) would be held at the 1 remaining of the final 4 locations, not used it either round 2 or 3. --Schools would be assigned locations in rounds based on closest proximity to schools. Example this year would go as such. Bowl Champ. Series 1. Missouri 2. West Virginia 3. Ohio State 4. Georgia 5. Kansas 6. Virginia Tech 7. LSU 8. USC 9. Oklahoma 10. Florida 11. Boston College 12. Hawaii 13. Arizona State 14. Illinois 15. Clemson 16. Oregon (assuming oregon beats Oregon State) Assuming favorites win Round 1 (12/8/07-12/15/07) Missouri vs Oregon at Minneapolis West Va vs Clemson at Indy Ohio State vs Illinois at Memphis Georgia vs Arizona State at Tampa Kansas vs Hawaii at Houston Va Tech vs BC at Charlotte LSU vs Florida at Jacksonville USC vs Oklahoma at San Diego Round 2 (12/22/07-12/26/07) Missouri vs USC at Dallas West Va vs LSU at Detroit Ohio State vs Va Tech at Atlanta Georgia vs Kansas at Glendale Round 3 (12/29/07-1/1/08) Missouri vs Georgia at Pasadena West Va vs Ohio State at Miami Round 4 (1/5/08) Missouri vs West Va at New Orleans

So Michigan gets to go ranked #30 and with an 8-4 record but Illinois who finished #15 and was 9-3 gets shafted. No way!! What about the Big 12 with Kansas, Mizzou and Oklahoma all being in the top 10 overall. Also where does this whole thing leave Notre Dame??? Obivously they weren't great this year but if they finished 10-1 or undefeated, would they be out as well?? I am up for a similar type of "bracket" like in basketball, like they use in divison 2 or I-AA.
