double post

arizona & Denver are evenly matched teams IMO. Both are a game out of the playoffs.
-
NFL MVP if it wasn't for Tom Brady.
-
Of the following teams that could finish 2nd place in their conference...which is the most attractive to the Rose Bowl Committee? Michigan Kansas West Va. Georgia This is why I felt that the Rose Bowl Committee would say that they would choose Michigan to be the "at large" team in the Rose Bowl, filling the void left by Ohio State.

The Las Vegas betting line has no baring on the BCS. Eva, you're expecting logic to be used with the BCS system & that's the problem. The system is flawed but it is what it is. Logic and BCS should not mix.
-
not if ohio state would have won. It's a question IMO of what big ten team the Motor City bowl would rather have...Indiana or MSU. Both would generate tons of fans and have a good showing at Ford Field. I would think MSU would have a slight edge in the team being more attractive but it's close.
-
didn't think about cooley but yes, he would fit nicely here.
-
agreed disagree. No way does Michigan get to the rose bowl with back-to-back losses, regardless of Michigan finishing 2nd in Big Ten. Michigan would then head to the Capital One Bowl and the Rose Bowl would have a non-big ten team in it.

Rewind the tape back to saturday morning. If Ohio State would have beaten Illinois and Michigan, they would be in the National Championship game and Michigan would have a good chance of going to the Rose Bowl with Michigan beating Wisconsin and then losing to Ohio State. That was the reasoning why I said the game against Wisconsin was bigger than just a "doesn't matter" game. That is my arguement that the Michigan-Wisconsin game mattered.

someone seriously has to take the maize and blue goggles off. The point spread is a matter of opinion. USC losing to Stanford is different than Michigan losing to Appy State for several reasons. #1 Stanford was a conference game, Stanford is a Divison 1 team. Appy State is not a conference game and not even a Divison 1 team. #2 Lets look at the previous seasons for USC and Michigan. 2002 USC Trojans 11-2 2003 USC Trojans 12-1 2004 USC Trojans 13-0 2005 USC Trojans 12-1 2006 USC Trojans 11-2 2002 Michigan 10-3 2003 Michigan 10-3 2004 Michigan 9-3 2005 Michigan 7-5 2006 Michigan 11-2 Yup. USC clearly has been a better team. Like Lou said, they get more slack due to being USC. #3 Pros and Cons of when you lose. If you lose early... Pro: You can recover easier. Look at Michigan overcoming an 0-2 start to move all the way back into the top 12 as example Con: Media hasn't got a chance to see what your capable of so you might drop further. If you lose midway thru the season Pro: Media has already seen what your capable of so you might have some slack. USC when they loss, already had a big win against undefeated Nebraska at the time. Albeit Nebraska turned out to be not as good as advertised after the game. Cons: Everyone is pretty much granted 1-loss in order to still be eligable for a BCS bowl, but depending on who you lost too..you might not be able to overcome. If Kansas would have lost to say...Kansas State....do you think they would be a top 5 team?? Probably not even a top 10 team. The Jayhawks have played no one to this point. If you lose late... Pros: If you won your conference or align yourself with a "doesn't matter" game like Michigan's loss to Wisconsin was and how the Wolverines can still win the big ten despite losing that game, is the only way that can be a pro. Cons: Nearly impossible to overcome if you loss late. Look at last year as example. Michigan might have been well deserving of being the 2nd best team in the country after losing to Ohio State, but its all about when you lost that cost them any shot at the National Championship. Hope that clears up some things Eva.

Kobe's not going anywhere. It's LA, they love drama in Hollywood.

I am a little distrubed by these Michigan fans that treat yesterday's game as an exhibition. Hell yeah it mattered. If Michigan would have won and then lost against Ohio State, Michigan would have still likely headed to a BCS bowl, probably the Rose Bowl. Now with Michigan losing, they are surely out of a BCS bowl with a loss to Ohio State. Michigan would probably be out of the Top 25 to with back-to-back losses as well. The game still counts Wolverines, even tho they didn't lose much with a loss. Nice win today by MSU. To me this season is a success now. They have been in every game they play and despite losing a lot of games in the final minutes, they are going to a bowl for the first time since 2003. Dantonio in his first year has shown strides that the team is going in the right direction and hopefully MSU can improve and have a type of year like Illinois is having this year, next year. Good job Sparties!!

I also found it interesting that Alex Rodriguez in MLB is seeking a $350 million dollar contract. He could buy 28 of the 30 nhl teams with that. Sheesh!

good article. I am actual pulling for Beiliein to do well at Michigan. One of my favorite college basketball teams growing up were the 1989 Michigan Wolverines. That was a great team. Amazing how Fisher was thrown right in the mix, the whole "Michigan man coaching Michigan" is legendary.

Oklahoma State football coach blows up at press conference

This is why I love press conferences. -
I can see your point. Maybe a cutoff date like MLB has where playoff rosters have to be set by this date. The San Diego Padres of this baseball season were a good example of the positives and negatives of that playoff roster set date. They were fighting for the final playoff spot and in a span of a few days they lost both outfielders cameron and bradley. They could acquire another outfielder (which they did in lane) but had they made the playoffs, Lane would have been ineligable due to his acquistion date. The Padres didn't make the playoffs and now of that mattered, but you can see the positives and negatives. Do you want something similar in the NHL?

I recall a certain Red Wing named Fedorov who in 97-98 ended his holdout and returned late in the season and led the wings to the cup that year. Very interesting question. I picked him up and put him on the bench in my league. I am winning big time so I can take a gamble with a bench slot.
-
Not sure about that. North Carolina is #1 on most rankings and are well deserving. They are a complete team and going to be tough to stop. Memphis is going to be good too. They return 10 of their top 11 scorers and also have Derrick Rose, one of the best freshman on their team. IMO, you can pencil those teams in the final four this year.

Everyone ripped on me for picking the Lions to finish 2nd place in the divison eariler. Albeit I thought the Lions would have a 7-9, 6-10 record in 2nd place..but damn it to hell....the Lions should AT LEAST finish 2nd place if not win this divison. Didn't see the Bears defense collaspe tho. As far as the Favre bashing... FAVRE IS TOO OLD!!! nah, he is amazing this season. If it wasn't for an outta this world Tom Brady, Brett Favre would be MVP. The thing that impresses me so much this year from #4 is his patience. The gunslinger has such great vision this year. He is not forcing anything this year like he has in past seasons.
-
yup. let the invasion of North Carolina begin. :battle: :starwars:

a poll with only 1 option. nice. I would vote for Red but I can't.

IN DREW WE TRUST!!! It's all about Neitzel for MSU. That kid had a breakout season last year and looks to have another good season. Raymar Morgan is key I think this year. He is due to breakout and this has to be the season for that. Curious to see how the young guards do in Allen and Lucas. Both are highly recruited and MSU could really use a good point guard. Indiana is predicted by most media to be the team to beat in the Big Ten this year with Michigan State followed behind. MSU can take on Indiana and even be a final four team, if neitzel gets help.
-
I agree with you on this one. This upset counts and watching that game, you just knew that G-Webb wanted this game more. Oh and Michigan fans...Gardener Webb hails from North Carolina. The same North Carolina that also holds Appy State.

Grand Valley State 85, Michigan State 82

now you know how i feel. My first reaction was "whoa...Izzo can't be happy with this" and I fully trust Izzo to get this team ready for the season.
