to me if they have another bad year, the alumni will start to rumble. However Bill Martin and Rich Rod might as well be attached at the hip. If Rich Rod goes down, Martin would be out as well. I honestly think it will come down to that but I think we are talking at least another year after this one. My biggest fear is that Michigan will put Lloyd Carr as AD and then get a guy like Dantonio to run the program and then Michigan would be back on track. I dont think Carr would blow the football coach process like Martin may have with Rod.

I am sick of all the Rich Rod talk and really just want college football to be on my saturday tv. Luckily enough I only have to wait 2 more days. My question to Michigan fans right now is what does Rich Rod have to do this year to secure his job? or is his job safe no matter what? I will be watching both MSU and then Michigan game on saturday. The michigan game with curiousity on if Michigan has turned the corner or not. As far as my Spartans are concerned, I like what they have on their team and the schedule is in their favor. MSU has depth this year and it should show. To me anything less than 3rd place in the Big Ten is a disappointment.

Curious to see how Bonderman does coming out of the pen. Lot of money tied into Bondo. Would like to get something back in return.

That quote is misleading. MSU players run some of their practices in order for them to improve as much as they can. It is something Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State etc have always done in the past. Let the seniors run the practice and put the players "out of bounds" to the media like Carr did is the answer so you dont have idiot freshman taken advantage of a reporter just looking for a big story. Oh and would this story come out if Michigan won 9 games last year. Answer is NO.

Michigan had their chance in 2006 on the football field. A lot of these screwed teams dont even get that shot in the BCS.
-
^^ Very classy Jack. I wish more fans in sports were like you. I personally would understand in frustration over the fact that every year it seems that the Mountain West conference gets screwed.
-
all depends on how big your team roster is. Larger group of teams, the smaller your roster should be
-
I think Western has a better shot against Michigan than Central does against MSU.
-
how do you feel jack that 3 of the mountain west teams are ranked in the top 25 with no guarntee of a bcs bowl game yet the big east has no one in the top 25 yet has a bcs bowl game guarntee? Do you think they will change it soon to open the door to the Mountain West conference soon?

Nah he will announce his retirement and the Vikes will draft Tim Tebow or Sam Bradford to make them their franchise quarterback. Then during training camp he will say he wants to come back but the Vikes tell him he has to compete for the position like everyone else and they end up cutting him. #4 then comes to Detroit so he can take it to the Pack and the Vikes but tell everyone else that their is "just something left in the tank".
-
if Peterson is "Purple Jesus", doesn't that make Favre "Purple Judas"??
-
What I find funny is that he is coming back "because their is something left in the tank" yet he signs with Green Bay's biggest rival and this appears to have all the makings of looking to take it to the Packers organization and not the latter. Shame on you #4 for ruining a hall of fame career. Also good luck on returning to Green Bay this year....hope he enjoys boos because he will get his share of them in a place I thought he never would.
-
Problem is there are no big men out there. Big Baby Davis is the only one that comes to mind for me. I think they will go after Chandler or Boozer via trade.
-
What does everyone thing about a possible return of Ben Wallace to the Pistons? They would sign him under vetern salary so his salary wouldnt go against the cap. To me he is a shell of what he used to be. That being said if he can play and contribute off the bench..then I would sign him.

I know. I kept the game on til the ASG MVP award presentation, hoping that it was Granderson. Hard to believe they have been giving the award for almost 50 years and no Tiger has won it.
-
Interesting that you picked Nichol. I know little about Nichol. I know he has tremendous upside and is a very atheltic QB. Whether or not his time is now or in the next few seasons, i guess we will have to wait and see. Curious to see what Michigan fans are thinking with reports that Rich Rod is on a short leash this year and unless things turn around dramatically, this would be his last season. they are saying that recruits dont like Rich, they dont like his practice style. Boosters dont like him and the school doesnt like the whole lawsuit mess from West Va.
-
Makes me wonder which qb you would want to have on your team. Cousins, Nichol, Forcier, Robinson? As far as Ringer, yes...they need a running game to at least force the defense to respect the run.

#31 Michigan State Thought they would be a little bit higher, might even in the top 25 but I am ok with the ranking. Defensively they look pretty solid. Greg Jones is the main linebacker so the Spartans need him to be just that. If they can get a pass rush, the secondary has talent and should capitalize on that. Offensively tho, they have holes to fill. A QB and HB must step up and the WRs have to be the strongest link in the offense. Limit the dropped passes. The schedule favors MSU to have another great year but everyone will bring out the SOS (same ol' sparties) if they cant even get past CMU in week 2. 2-3 loss team is very reasonable expectations. This year should show Dantonio's system and if it is working in East Lansing.

#46 Michigan #46 overall is Michigan. Interesting breakdown and analysis. Thought the wolverine fans on here might enjoy. I really think the QB situation is gonna be the key for UM this year. If Forcier is not the answer, someone has to be.

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

Surprised I didnt see this thread created yet. Anyway, got some breaking news to all you Pistons fans. ESPN is reporting that the Pistons will trade Billups and McDyess to Denver in exchange for Iverson. Don't have a link yet but am looking for it. If this trade goes thru, I am shocked. Not sure this is the trade we need to improve this team, despite the fact that the Pistons need to make a move. -
gonna get worse in the future if the olympics get baseball back. The proposed plan includes 16 days of no mlb tv coverage while the olympics go on in aug (starting in 2016 at the soonest). MLB games will be played during that time but no way you can see your favorite MLB team unless you buy tickets to the game. College players and amatuers will represent the US during that time and you will only get coverage of them.

took a page out of the wings draft approach. Come on Pistons. Let's corner the market and have a team loaded with Swedes. -
still concerned with rotation pitcher 4 and 5. After Verlander, Jackson and Porcello...there is a huge dropoff.

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

Sometimes I hate when I am right. Shaq traded This is it for cleveland. If they cant win next year, they wont. I am not sure what Phoenix is looking at with this trade. Ben Wallace is close to retiring, if not already. Maybe it was just to get shaq's contract off the books so they can resign Amare. -
the olympics are Feb 12-28 in vancouver next year. Its roughly the middle of the season and replaces the all star game. yeah 2006 it was rough on our wings but little do we forget that the wings went thru it in 2002 and that worked out pretty good. Stevie got the gold in feb and the silver in june.
