Germany looks like they are going to make the quarterfinals. Winner of A group will most likely play the top team of T&T, Sweden and Paraguay in the round of 16 and then odds are Argentina in the Quarters. I think Germany can make a serious run, even go all the way to the finals.

WOW!! Talk about saving the best for last. Very good, hard fought match between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. Tunisia takes a 1-0 lead early on...Saudi Arabia comes roaring back with 2 goals....and just when it looks like Saudi Arabia is going to win, Tunisia scores in the 93rd min. Game ends in 2-2 tie. On to 2nd games for everyone.

the team i was most impressed with so far was Trinidad and Tobago. They stunned me in a match that I thought they had little or no chance. Some nice comebacks in games like the Iran-Mexico and the Korea-Togo game. Overall, I was most impressed with Spain today.

well at least USA didnt play as bad as Ukraine is against Spain. 4-0 Spain!!

couple of good matches today. I was impressed with Korea's comeback against Togo. I thought Togo would be the "surprise African team" this year and I was nearly right. Also good game going on now between France and Switzerland. Brazil plays Croatia later on today which should be an awesome match. All around good day in Germany.

Exactly. but i think it goes deeper than that. I think the Athens meltdown and not us forget the World Championships in Indianapolis is a direct result in the rest of the world catching up AND the poor players on the team that really didnt want to be in Greece. USA basketball should bring back amatuers in this sport, or at least players that ACTUALLY want to be there. Do you even realize how much time the other baseball teams had to practice before they got to play in the World Baseball Classic or even the simple fact that most of the good MLB players now, are not from the US. You are only kidding yourself if you still think that baseball is america's pastime. Hockey is such a crap shoot. There are 4-6 countries that could easily win the gold medal and it seems that it just keeps getting rotated on whom wins the medal. So many good players all around the world. And finally today's soccer match. Do you realize that US just played the best team in the world, sorry Brazil. Czech is stacked and will be a difficult team to beat no matter what. However, US seemed to lack chemisty and hunger. The tournament is clearly not over for the Americans. Look at Turkey in 2002. They lost the first match to Brazil...went on to grab 3rd place overall. USA should use that for motivation.

Yes, England was solid from the start. I actually thought it was going to be a blowout after the Beckham goal, but England sorta seemed to lack chemistry from that point on. I think England will make it to the final 8, but not much more after that. Getting past Argentina or Netherlands is going to be a struggle.

England was terrible despite getting the win in the 1-0 game against Paraguay, scoring their only goal, on an own goal. With TNT and Sweden tying, it now looks like England just needs a tie to advance. I look for the Sweden-Paraguay game as a huge game in that group. Winner (if any) in that game should advance.

US will be lucky to advance to the next round. With Czech Republic and Italy in the bracket, only 2 teams move on. My guess is US will not advance.

Anyone else realize that Ben Wallace is 32 years old?? I seriously say let Ben Wallace test the free agent market. If another team offers ben the league max, i say let him go. I would hate to lose your best defensive player but these past playoffs have shown me that Ben is a huge liability when this team is off their game.

The problem I see with the pistons is that they devote so much cap space and playing time to the starting 5, that whomever they pick up...will be underpaid and not used that much. i am not sure what i would do to improve this team. I think Rasheed is the weakest link in the starting 5, but I am not ready to get rid of him for KG (sorry dallas..but after Rasheed's performance...minnesota would be crazy to accept your deal). Cato is definately gone (i dont think he was ever here) and i think hunter might retire too. Heard reports today suggesting that Delfino wants out of here to go to another team where he can play.
