Have baseball fans gone far enough?

Just think what New York is going to do when Bonds gets close to passing Ruth. NO ONE WANTS BONDS TO HIT ANYMORE HOME RUNS!!

this is a great game. I was excitied to see Zumaya pitch too. I thought by his high fastball that great...another Matt Anderson. But if Zumaya can keep his control, he can be a solid pitcher. Ohhhhh..Zumaya still left in there for the 8th. This should be interesting. Great game by Chris Shelton, Guillen...awesome pitching by the Gambler. Nasty strikeout by Zumaya.

    It's time for a change

since the wings are always a team full of all stars, has anyone ever thought of having EVERY player where a different jersey. They wear different jerseys at the baseball all star game and they used to do it at the nba all star game. Can you imagine the confusion that the other team would face seeing 20+ different jerseys after them.

    It's time for a change

I can't believe i never saw this thread before. Guess I need to adjust my priorities to make sure I don't miss out in all the fun. To add my 2 cents, why do we even need names on jerseys either..or even numbers??

very good party today. Like Hockey Matters said, it is great to put a face to a name. We should definately do something like that for the playoffs. There is always a early saturday game during the playoffs like for game 2 or 3 of a series. Might not be a bad idea to set it up on one of those days.

No longer a sport?? Thats taking it to the extreme isnt it? I dont have any picks yet, gotta take a once over on all the rosters when the season starts. Im expecting the Tigers to be over .500 though, maybe only by 4 or 5 games but it'll happen. I see it as being like around 5 years ago or so where they flirted with the wildcard late in the year and then fell off. This team definitely has promise though, Im most interested in the rotation. No question the lineup has talent, but what I dont like is it just seems to be a bunch of similar hitters, like it just doesnt have the team chemistry that variety would provide. I think Granderson is gonna be the key. He needs to continue to show enough power so he can be put eventually in the 3 spot. Thats where he needs to be for this team to be successful. My ideal batting order would be: 1)Polanco -no he doesnt have the speed but he knows how to hit leadoff) 2)Guillen - you could flip flop him with Polanco, but i prefer him at 2 3)Granderson - Is it too early? Only one way to find out. We need an athletic power hitting lefty to be in the heart of the lineup to mix things up 4)Ordonez- just stay healthy damnit.. 5)Shelton- will drive in whatever Maggs doesnt 6)Young - because he can hit lefty.. 7)Pudge- any lower and he'd probably start bitching.. 8)Monroe 9)Inge while the hitters are important, I think this year, pitching will be key. This is bonderman's year to prove that he can be an ace. It will be interesting to see if Verlander can pitch this year. I think this is the first year I like the tigers pitching staff in a long time. Which is why this is the year they finally get over .500.

less than 30 mins til the field is announced. I can't wait. I love this time of the year. The thursday and friday's games are classic sports. I remember as a kid skipping school on those days to rush home and watch a Santa Clara, Richmond, Butler, or Weber State beat a North Carolina or Arizona team. So unpredictable. Good luck to everyone's picks and here's to having a good bracket that is not thrown away after 5 on thursday!

  18. sad day whenever someone in motorsports dies. RIP HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) -- Driver Paul Dana died after a two-car crash Sunday during the warmup for the season-opening IRL IndyCar Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The other driver, Ed Carpenter, was awake and alert at a Miami hospital, IRL officials said. ADVERTISEMENT Dana, 30, a former motorsports journalist with a degree from Northwestern, was a rookie who competed in three IRL races for Ethanol Hemelgarn Racing last year with a best finish of 10th in the race at Homestead. The Toyota Indy 300 race was expected to be run as scheduled. Bobby Rahal, co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing for which Dana was to race this season, said the team's other two cars -- driven by Danica Patrick and Buddy Rice -- will be pulled out of the race. ``Obviously, this is a very black day for us,'' Rahal said. ``This is a great tragedy.'' Carpenter spun and hit the wall moments after the practice began at 10 a.m. EST. As Carpenter's battered car slid to a stop, Dana slammed into it at almost full speed -- about 200 mph. Dana and Carpenter, the stepson of IRL founder Tony George, both were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. IRL officials said Dana died shortly before noon. Vision Racing team general manager Larry Curry said he was told Carpenter ``would be fine.'' Dana is the first IRL driver killed since Tony Renna died in a crash during testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October 2003. It is the third racing death at the Homestead track -- John Nemechek was killed in a NASCAR truck race in February 1997 and Jeff Clinton died in a Grand Am sports car event at the track in March 2002.

that gonzaga game was unbelievable. You can clearly see how emotional game it was by just the reaction Adam Morrison had at the end. I felt bad for the guy. He is one of the NCAA's best players and going to be great in the NBA. If Morrison returns to college, look out. He will be on a mission and Gonzaga might finally be able to make it over the hump. Also in the Duke game, what a heartbreaker way for JJ Redick to go out. Redick couldn't hit the side of a barn tho last night. Missed 15 shots and just a sad way for him to leave college. I love great college basketball players whom stay for all 4 years. Rare to see that anymore.

Camping out to me means going to the Holiday Inn. lol. Like muse tho, a get-together would still be fun. When I was with the group from red wings chat, we got together one saturday over the summer and had a beach party. Someone even brought a boat and we had a blast. I am up for anything if the day is good for me.

if Ben was such a proven winner, why during his rookie year, when he was inserted in as the QB...that the offensive line was displeased with the move. They should have been happy. Ben was a "proven winner".
