    CBS Disrespects Hockey

Thank you for seeing the light. I am glad I can count on your support

    CBS Disrespects Hockey

Yes. It's bad enough that ESPN, SI, and the rest of the mainstream media don't acknowledge that hockey is clearly superior to every other sport. Now CBS is jumping on the hate hockey bandwagon. Enough is enough!!!111 :ranting:

    CBS Disrespects Hockey

You're right, baseball only exists in America. That's why there's a WORLD baseball classic going on right now. Featuring 14 countries and one territory that aren't the USA.

    CBS Disrespects Hockey

Oh, I'm as serious as a heart attack. Having freaking ass reflexes doesn't make you an athlete. You telling me that Cecil Fielder was an athlete? Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that CBS can't get away with this!!!111 :ranting:

I agree with you on that really. The champion ought to be decided after the Big Ten Tournament. But, if the Big 10 wants to give MSU another banner to hang in the Breslin, I'm not going to complain. Love Raymar's dunk here to seal the win.

    Stay classy, Montreal

As a fellow Sparty, I agree. It was just the icing on the cake for the worst season of MSU hockey since...well...since I've been alive as far as I know.

Conboy did not slash the um player. That was Tropp. Conboy hit him from behind and drove him into the boards.

    Nashville isn't THAT bad...

For a team that isn't a rival to the Red Wings, there sure are a lot of posts about them on LGW...

Anyone go to a game in Nashville?

Expect there to be lots of Wings fans there. The Preds fans will probably give you a hard time, but for the majority of them, its all in good fun. If you have the time during the day, take a trip to the Jack Daniels distillery.

    hilarious impression of Preds fans

Point? There's plenty of parts of Texas that are as redneck as Michigan as well. Your location says you're from west Michigan. Ever spent any time in Allegan County? A lot of people there would be at home in the rural parts of the south. BTW, in case anyone thinks the south as the market cornered on redneck behavior...

You guys do know that once you get outside the I-96 corrider, Michigian is just as redneck as Tennessee is? The only difference is the accents.

    beers!

It's not that difficult really. If you can follow a recipe, you can make beer. You need malted barely, hops, water, and yeast. Boil the first three, add the yeast, and let it age. There's obviously more to it than that, but that's really the basic idea. The biggest problem I see with homebrew is the start up costs. I kind of got lucky since I got most of the equipment as a wedding present. A lot of the bigger homebrew stores sell starter kits, here's what Austin Homebrew (what I use) has.

    beers!

Probably has to do with Bud/Miller/Coors being half corn or rice. Tried a few new ones lately. The Samuel Smith Old Taddy Porter was excellent. I'm going to try to brew a clone of it next fall fall when it gets colder. Or cold for around here at least. I also tried Cooper's Stout. Not bad, but there was something about it that made me think I wouldn't drink it again, I can't quite figure out what though. For my homebrew, this coming weekend I have an amber ale that's going to get bottled and I'm going to brew up a blonde ale.

If that's the case, why punish your team by leaving your best player on the bench. Make Harris run laps in next practice or something. I was looking at Michigan's remaining games. Why do they have back to back games against the Gophers? What a tough way to end the season as well. Purdue at home, then at Wisconsin and Minnesota? Ouch. Oh well, the NIT will be happy to have you guys.

I didn't see the game, but I read about it. What the hell was up with B_ leaving his best player on the bench for OT?

Nice win over the Badgers today. When it comes to basketball, I absolutely hate Bo Ryan and the Badgers. Bunch of floppers adn whiners. The announcers called out the Badgers for flopping, finally someone did.
  19. Did you guys read Michael Lewis' article about Shane Battier? It's pretty interesting. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/magazine...agewanted=print

    Retire #'s 18,25,33,96

I think most of the people who are saying to retire #13 and #40 are saying retire them, assuming they play the rest of their career with Detroit and win another Cup or two. If, godforbid, they both suffered career ending injuries in the next game, I don't think there'd be anyone saying those number should be hung in the rafters. It's harder to get a number retired in Detroit than it is to get into the Hockey Fall of Fame. If Maltby, McCarty, Draper, and Homer don't get in the Hall of Fame (a safe assumption), why on earth should they get their numbers retired? I think they Wings should, and will do something nice for those guys, but not retiring their number.

    I blame Crosby

It's pretty easy to get on the interwebz and spend Crosby's money, or say you'd turn to 2.7 million a season, isn't it? I can say if I win the lotto tomorrow, I'll give all the money to starving children in some backwoods country. Doesn't mean I'd actually do it when all that money is staring me in the face. I understand there's a lot of (very ridiculous) hate for Crosby on this site, but this absolutely takes the cake.

    I blame Crosby

So when you get offered a promotion at work, to be the fry manager all by yourself, are you going to turn it down to promote a culture of sacrifice and winning?

No. Retiring a number is for the best of the best. This isn't Colorado.
