Houston has been trying to get a NHL team for sometime, the owner of the Rockets has been trying to get a team. Supposedly Houston was in the mix when it was thought that the Preds might move. Houston are the fourth largest city in the country, have a NHL ready arena, youth hockey is booming in Texas, they have a ready-made rival with Dallas, and their AHL team is 6th in the league in average attendance. Ahead of cities like Hartford, Albany, Hamilton, and Milwaukee. You know, teams in hockey states. And, they're only an hour and half from me. It would be much easier to catch the Wings when they come to down than driving up to Dallas

I know what you mean about Bettman making my life miserable. My life should be pretty good. Good job, great wife, no kids. Things should pretty good in the Chamber household. But that ******* Bettman! He makes my life a living hell. This morning, someone let the air out of my tires. I know it was Gary, that bastard. If you have a clear shot with plenty of time to wind up and pick your target, yeah, you shouldn't fall for this. But if its a scramble in front of the net and you see what looks like the net out of the corner of your eye and shoot at it, and its the pads. Well, then that's exactly the point. In the split second you have to do something with the puck, you probably won't have time to determine if its the pad or the net, and the instinct of shooting at the net will take over. Yeah, ok. This is the type of situation that is better handled with a phone call than a press release. I have no doubt the NHL would be within their right to take action, especially if Nick and Dats were just there for meet and greets. But it makes everyone involved look bad when it appears that the NHL is threatening the players.

You realize that above all, the NHL is a business? And the goal of any business is to make money? That being said, it seems to me there's only a few cities this could even work in. Too many teams have a hard enough time filling their own rink. You really think the people of St. Louis (for example) are going to fill the rink for a Ducks/Devils Cup final? Like others have said, the Superbowl works because its only one game. I understand what the NHL is doing. How great would it be (from a money making prospective) to have two games of the Cup in Toronto if the two Cup teams aren't original six or Canadian teams?

I have a hard time believing the NCAA couldn't put a stop to the bowl games if they wanted to.

When you're in East Lansing, you need to have a burger and a bucket of beer at Crunchy's. And like everyone else has said, you can find a Wings hat just about anywhere you go.

Besides the fact they would get completely slammed by the fans and the media, the Lions do not need another WR. Yes, another good WR to draw defenders away from Calvin Johnson would be nice. But improving the OL, the DL, getting a QB, hell everything else is more important.

I know how you feel. I wish the all the leagues would take sports away from Fox. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything in sports they do well. Except for having animated robots for NFL games. They're good at that.

I really can't get fired up for the championship game tomorrow. Football should end on new years day. By now, the holidays are over, I've gone back to work, its a new year and I'm back to the grind already. It's an after though.

I enjoyed the article, I guess every so often he still churns out a decent article. But, it was the typical Albom schamaltz that hasn't been said a million times before. The only thing that surprised me about the article is he didn't do his usual one line style of writing. We've all seen it. Something sappy Something sappy again. More sap to tug at the heart strings and get on Oprah. Repeat ad nausea.
