    beers!

I've found Anchor Porter, Liberty Ale, and I once found Anchor Bock here in Texas. You just gotta look for them. Do they have Specs stores up in the metroplex? They're always good for finding microbrews at. Edit to add: Barleywines are awesome. C-Dub, you ever drink anything from Real Ale Brewing Company, out of Blanco? They make a barleywine. I really want to try it, but I can't find it anywhere in town.

    beers!

I just checked the Sam Adams website, it was listed under the Brewmaster's Collection and not the season beers. I've only had it once and I was pretty drunk, so I don't remember how it was. An Irish Red does sound good though. I have a good recipe for one, I might give it a try.

If I had a job with the Wings sales/marketing departments, why would I help you? You might be trying to take my job

I actually found myself rooting for Michigan last year against the Gators. I didn't mean to, I wanted to see Tebow light them up. But as the game went on and Michigan was giving them the business, I strangely found myself *gasp* wanting them to win. Just to show all the people (myself included) who said they had no chance against a QB like Tebow. After the game, I scrubbed myself with bleach.

  7. I've had this for a while and just don't have any room for it, unfortunately. It measures roughly 6 feet by 3 feet. It has never been displayed and has been kept in a dark, smoke-free enviromment. I'm asking $30 delivered to US or Canada. I'll ship overseas but the cost will be higher. I'll take PayPal, check, money order, or cash. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. Otherwise, this will end up on ebay.

It's tough when schedules are done years in advance. I mean, who know that Toledo would be such a power house. Oh, wait MSU had Rutgers for a home and home in 03 and 04. Just our luck to travel to New Jersey when Rutgers is turning their program around. I'm sure the series was originally scheduled back in the late 90's though.

    New Stadium Idea

Bingo. Who's really going to want to sit outside during a Michigan winter to see the Blue Jackets for the 5th time on a Tuesday night? Leave the outdoor games to a once a year deal.

Well, I'm obviously disappointed with the loss yesterday. I really felt like the Spartans could have won the game, but they blew too many chances. But, I'm really happy with a 9-4 season and the direction the program is headed.

    beers!

I try to drink a lot of Texas beer to support the local guys too. Unfortunately, Texas isn't nearly as good for a beer state as Michigan is. And sadly, I haven't ever been able to find Michigan beer down here. Someone gave me a sixer of Sam Adams Honey Porter at Christmas. It's pretty tasty, fairly hoppy for a porter, but that's Sam Adams. I'd imagine the honey balances out the hops though. Its good, although I'm not sure I'd buy it again. There's a lot of other porters I like more.

I think Sims would make just about any NFL roster. But yeah, those 5 are about the only ones. The only game I saw this year was Turkey Day, so I can't comment on Avril. But you're right, 5 sacks as a rookie is pretty good. And I've got full faith that the Lions will somehow find a way to screw the draft up. I wish I could find it, I read something the other day about Millen's draft choices. The vast majority of them aren't even in the league anymore.

    Cherepanov took steroids as well...

How's that view from your high horse? I bet you can see for miles. I was under the impression that uppers were a bigger problem. I once played a beer league game after taking some cold medicine (I was fighting a cold). I have no idea what was in it, but holy s***, I had one of my best games ever, flying up and down the ice and I had energy to spare. It felt like my heart was beating faster than normal, so I didn't take it again.

You and me both. I thought he'd get another year. There should have been a complete housecleaning though. As far as the draft, trading down isn't going to happen. Unless there's an amazing, can't miss player available, clubs don't want the #1 pick because of how much guaranteed money they end up shelling out. This might change in a year or two. I know there's something coming up which is supposed to change salaries, maybe the cap getting restructured? Anyway. There isn't that can't miss player in this draft, I don't see any teams making the trade with Detroit. I am 100% against taking a quarterback with the first pick. There is no way in hell you can take a QB fresh out of college, stick him behind the Lions offensive line and expect him to succeed. Hell, the bastard child of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady would be a failure behind this line. The Lions need to build from the trenches out. Start with the OL, DL, and LB positions. A good OL can make an average QB better. But a good QB going with a bad OL protecting him is going to be a failure. Get either the OL from Bama or Ole Miss. Get a LB with the second pick. Then spend the rest of the draft taking the best available player at the non-skill positions. Unless its a steal, I don't want to a WR, RB, or QB drafted until the second day.

Disappointed that Dantonio didn't jump ship for Tennessee? I've said it before, the only way Dantonio possibly leaves is if Ohio State opens up, and I don't see SweaterVest going anywhere. He's a midwest guy, he has previous ties to MSU, and he and his family love East Lansing. He is going to be the coach at MSU for a long time. Don't believe me, just ask him. "It's not over. I'm going to be a coach here for a long time. It's not over, it's just starting." -Mark Dantonio.

Yeah, Christmas is rough. Tamales are a tradition Christmas food in Texas (which of course we got from Mexico). We got a couple dozen from Mrs. Chamber's co-worker. And these are real tamales. As in, they are made with lard. I just polished some off. So bad, yet so good. Good thing we got a Wii Fit as well.

Really, it's not up to you or me to decide if he's a Michigan Man. We need Mike Hart, the final arbiter of Michigan Man status to weigh in. I'm disappointed to see him go to Tulsa, we'll miss out on 4 years worth of jokes. But, his leaving proves what we always knew. Beaver doesn't want anything to do with the Michigan football team

Bettman: Oilers need a new arena

To a certain extent, yes, it might be an ok idea. If you sell season tickets to a corporation or someone who wants the tickets because its cool, you get the money up front and you can probably charge a higher price. You don't have to worry when its a Tuesday night in January and you're playing the Bluejackets for the 4th time. Whether or not someone shows up, the seat has been paid for. I would have to imagine that someone in the Wings organization did some kind of cost/benefit analysis and came to the conclusion that they'd make more money with higher priced seats and 97.9% attendance (the Wings attendance so far this year) as opposed to lower priced seats and 100%. They must figure the real fans will still watch the game on TV, buy merchandise, and occasionally attend a game. With the state of the US economy and Michigan's economy in paticular, I think some lower ticket prices or specials would be a good thing for the Wings to run. Maybe they have this season, I wouldn't be back in MI during the season so I haven't bothered to check the prices.

The Lions don't stand a chance, even with the Packers having a bad season. When's the last time Detroit won at Lambeau? Sometime in the early 90's? And there's no way those Packers players want to be the team that loses to the Lions.
