    beers!

Good stuff. I think they were mentioned earlier in the thread, I tried a blueberry beer a few weeks ago. Not a fan. But, it was 8% which was nice.

    Matt Millen fired!

I have very little faith the Lions will get someone good in the position. Still, step in the right direction

Jabba sure isn't living up to his alleged guarantee that he'd never lose to MSU again. Notre Dame is a mystery to me. They definitely had their chances to win the game, but continued to shoot themselves in the foot. Their running game was virtually non-existent. The Irish only had 16, count em, 16 net rushing yards. Take away Jimmy's -31 yards from getting sacked, the ND ground game still only racked up less than 50 yards. Against UM, ND rushed for over 100 and against Cal, MSU gave up over 200 yards on the ground. Another year and this Irish team could be good again. There's some real talent at the WR spot. But they need to improve the offensive line. MSU dominated in the trenches. As far as MSU, Hoyer has got to pick it the f*** up. MSU cannot survive on Ringer alone. He's played amazing, but MSU has to be able to throw the ball. Hoyer has had good, even great games in the past. But this year he just has not looked better than average. Losing Devin Thomas and Kellen Davis hurt. Dell and Cunningham are both talented and are going to be excellent receivers, and Fred Smith is supposed to be good as well. But all of them are young and don't have a lot of experience. Hopefully as the season goes on, Hoyer will be more comfortable with them.

Everyone, un-bunch your panties. Its all in good fun. Michigan is playing the bye this week, correct? I thought one of the reasons D1 couldn't do a playoff system was it would make the season too long. I mean, adding a 12th game, bye weeks, and pushing the national championship back until January 8th certainly don't make the season too long.

We will sell out every game this year.

Not chance. Horrible economy + raised ticket prices = another year with no sellout streak.

Dumbtonio? Really? That's the best you can come up with? Geez, cool your jets. I never said MSU players don't get in trouble or anything like that.

Of course they do. But they usually get in trouble for the run-of-the-mill college football player stupidity. Not something funny like Harrison.

Hopefully they don't have any of their current players acting like Larry Harrison I'm pretty excited for the ND game this weekend. Its going to be interesting. The Spartans have basically played 3 games without running the ball. ND is obviously improved, although its tough to judge a team when they struggle against San Diego State and beat up on Michigan.

Have to make sure no Wolverines vandalize my car. I've seen one or two shifty-eyed individuals wearing yellow and blue around town.

The background wasn't done by MSU, it was done by a student. As far as I know, all they're doing this year is the "What is your profession" chant. And actually, I'm not even sure they're doing that.

Looking out the window at my car, I have a State sticker and alumni license plate frame. My "Have you kicked a wolverine today?" sticker is in my office And of course the um fans won't say anything bad about Izzo. Everyone knows um fans don't care about basketball. Unless the program is dirty. Then they love it.

I don't see how you can say that about MSU fans and football. How many MSU fans can you find that don't care about football, that tune out MSU until hoops season starts up? I'm sure there's a few out there, just like I'm sure there's some diehard UM basketball fans out there. But you will have a hell of a lot tougher time finding the MSU fan that doesn't care about football than you will the UM fan that doesn't care about basketball. Hell, use LGW as an example. Look at the UM fans that post in football threads. And then look at how many of them post in the college basketball thread. You and BRTD are the only consistent UM fans that post in anything basketball related, and he mostly posts about UVA.

Yeah, Montana State is a bunch of assholes. WVU, Rutgers, and Tech could all be on there, as could Colorado. I went to the Texas Bowl a couple years ago when Rugters played against Kansas State. It really showed the difference between the midwest and the northeast. At the start of the game when the teams ran out, the K-State fans cheered for their team and politely clapped for Rutgers. The Rutgers fans booed K-State, booed their fans, booed the refs, and booed the K-State band. It was hilarious. Michigan and Notre Dame fans are obnoxious in different ways. WVU, Texas Tech, etc just have flat out rude and obnoxious fans. Way too many ND and UM fans are stuck in the past, yet still think college football revolves around them. ND hasn't won a national championship since 1988, or even a bowl game since 1997. Michigan has a co-national championship from 97, but the next national championship was 1948, and most of their national championships were backdated anyway. The theme song for both those schools should be "Glory Days" by Springsteen. They are still good programs, don't get me wrong. s***, Michigan still has our number. But they aren't the top dogs anymore, not even close. But, there is one good thing about the Michigan fans. You really only have to deal with them for a few months out of the year. Once basketball season rolls around, they're nowhere to be found; or worse yet, cheering for MSU.

    Franzen vs. Hossa

Um, didn't Pitt offer more money to Hossa and for more years? I don't remember exactly how much the Pens offered Hossa, but it was at least what the Wings are paying him and I'm pretty sure it was more. And it was a mutli-year deal. Turning down more guaranteed money doesn't sound like the mark of someone who's only in it for the money. And I can't believe this is a serious debate. Hossa is one of the 15 best, probably 10 best players in the world. Franzen is not. Not even close. I agree with Eva's assessment of anyone who would take Franzen over Hossa.

I'm not being a MSU ******* when I ask this question. But what have you seen out of this UM team that would give you confidence? At least for this season. A loss to Utah. Only scoring 16 and letting a very bad Miami team hang around the entire game. Losing to Jabba the Weiss in an embarrassing fashion. Add in all the talent that UM lost for last year's team, there were what, at least 5 players drafted? Ultimately, I do think that DickRod will be a success in Ann Arbor. But what gives you any confidence for this season?
