    Lilja gone?

I agree. If there's one thing people do at LGW, it's give Lilja too much credit.

Jiri Fischer, should he get his name on cup?

No. If they won it the season he had his health problems, they'd I'd say yes.

What happened to the Katrina Hancock thread?

If a thread gets closed/moved, that isn't a sign to start the same thread again.

    beers!

I love Yuengling. Just wish I could get it down here. The woman and I went to Fredricksburg for the weekend, which is a little town west of Austin that's famous for it's German heritage and lots of wineries. For having a bunch of Germans around, the Fredricksburg Brewing Co. wasn't that impressive. The beer wasn't bad, certainly better than drinking Bud, Miller, or Coors, but it wasn't different than any other brew pub I've been to. While I was there, I found a store that sold singles of lots of different beers. Bought a six pack some random beers I hadn't tried before. Will report back once they're empty

    Parade Attendance? 1.4 MILLION?

I went to the Cup parade in 2002. No way was there just a few hundred thousand. You've got people coming in from all over Michigan, Canada, and the surrounding states.

    Chris Osgood

Stats-wise, there's no good argument as to keeping him out. Especially since many claim the Hockey Hall of Fame has become the Hockey Hall of Pretty Good. So then, those who want to deny Ozzie his rightful spot fall back on two arguments. 1: "Anyone would rack up those numbers playing for the Red Wings." There's no doubt that playing on the Red Wings has helped Osgood. Just as playing for the Devils has helped Broduer, or playing for the Canadiens and Avs helped Roy. Imagine that, a goalie puts up better numbers because they were on a good team. Is being on a good team really an excuse to deny someone. And, if you look at his numbers, there really isn't much of a change in SV% and GAA when he was with the Blues and Islanders. 2: "He's never been the best goalie in the league." That may be true. But other than Broduer, is there a goalie in league right now with more Cups than Ozzie? I can't think of one off the top of my head. Ozzie belongs in the Hall.

    Did anyone notice Bettman

Good god...the Red Wings win the Cup and people are still bitching
  8. Maybe having old guys with experience isn't such a bad thing, eh? (I know I've bagged on guys before for being too old, but not consistently)

Southern teams lining up to sell to Balsillie

Yeah, I hate the whole hockey snob, "only cold weather cities deserve a team" attitude. It gets old, quick.

These writers at freep are idiots...

Wow...anyone who's followed Detroit sports for more than a day knows that Drew Sharp is an idiot. Any other breaking news for us?

    Hell yeah, Babs!

Where do the extra players sit when they aren't in the lineup?

My guess is there's a luxury box for them

    beers!

I think I've seen that down here, I know all of a sudden a couple blueberry beers staveted showing up at my grocery store. I'll have to give it a try. I was at my local Spec's (Houston based liquor store which is about the size of small grocery store. Tons of beer/wine/booze) and picked up some singles I hadn't tried. I got: Great Divide Denver Pale Ale Shiner Blonde Spanish Peaks American Pale Ale Mendocino Brewing Co. Black Hawk Stout I've tried the first three. Out of the two pale ales, the Denver Pale Ale is probably the hoppier of the two, closer to an IPA. I hadn't had a Shiner Blonde in quite a while, probably since before I moved to Texas. It's a pretty refreshing beer, good for a hot day.

Questionable Story from "Blood Feud" ?

For anyone on the fence about a book written by a Colorado writer, just go get it. Dater does a very good job of staying neutral, much better than I would have.

Will Jiri Fisher get his name on the cup?

Is he considered part of the Red Wings staff?

    Conn Smythe Trophy Discussion

Right now, I don't see anyone but Ozzie winning it.

Questionable Story from "Blood Feud" ?

What makes you doubt this? The book has been out a couple years and I've never read anything about false stories in it.

    beers!

I know where it is now. I left Lansing about 3 years ago, which would explain why I didn't know about it. Usually if we went drinking downtown it would be either The Nuthouse, Rum Rummers or (ugh) 621. I'll have to give it a try next time I'm home.

    beers!

OK, I grew up in Lansing. I spent 3 years at MSU drinking in EL/Lansing. Where the hell is Brannigan Brothers and why didn't I know about it when I was in school? The Abita Purple Haze is good beer. If you drink it while eating some sweeter, it really brings out the raspberry taste. Last time I tried this we had salmon with some kind of honey glaze on it. Worked like a charm, I've got a sixer of St. Arnolds Brown Ale sitting in the fridge. I need a couple tonight after a long week.

You think Pens Fans are the worst?

I've always thought Colorado fans were the worst.

Sad story, I feel horrible for his family.

    Conn Smythe Trophy Discussion

It's tough not to give it to Osgood right now. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Listrom would certainly all be deserving though.

    NCAA Men's Lacrosse

I disagree. I have no natural ability and I sucked at lacrosse when I played in college.

    Punch on Franzen?

I thought it was a thumb in the eye or something similar as well. To me, the way he stayed down and the way he acted when he got up, and how he was right back out there make me think he wasn't selling it and it wasn't a hard hit. That being said, it was a cheap shot. I'd like to see someone on the Wings drop the gloves next game.
