Inside scoop: [on Osgood] Considers himself very, very good-looking, never tires of reminding anyone that a few years ago the Dallas Ice Girls voted him third-sexiest goalie in the NHL. Likes to do TV interviews without a shirt on. Mentally tough even though he comes across as the most laid-back personality on the team. Nice article, its great how well the Wings treat their players.

Would have been funnier if he called him David Crosby.

Boston is the only one that can come close. Fortunately, Detroit sportsfans aren't the obnoxious assholes that Boston fans are.
-
Right before Sammy scored his first goal, I was commenting to a buddy that I had no idea why he's even allowed to play. I'll take the crow now.

Back in 97 and 98 the Wings could beat you by scoring or by kicking some ass.

I didn't expect to see this thread until/if the Wings had lost a couple games. But no, there's no fix. There's relatively little to gain and way too much to lose by fixing games.

Tiger beer isn't bad. I've seen it in Detroit and here in Texas. Generally, I drink American craft or micro brews. I like amber ales and hefeweizens for lighter beers, and stouts for darker beer. I have started drinking IPA's a lot lately though. I tried to list my favorite beers, but its probably easier to list my favorite breweries. Bell's (Kalamazoo) Boulevard (Kansas City) Spoetzl (Shiner, Texas) New Belgium (Fort Collins, CO) Abita (Abita Springs, LA) Rouge (Newport, OR) Beers I avoid: Bud, Miller, Coors (except coors lite when I'm tailgating) Heineken or any other mass produced piss beer.

I was just about to post this. Pretty interesting article. I couldn't imagine spending all that time and money to record hockey fights, but whatever floats their boat.

True dat.

How do the Detroit Lions feel about season ticket holders?
BlakChamber replied to edicius's topic in Other Sports
Its tough to quit the Lions. I've tried. I'm trying to become a Houston Texans fan. They may not be that great, but they've got a potential. The Lions don't even have that. -
Bingo, great post. The things people find to ***** about here. If Turco had hugged Osgood, people here would comlain he didn't bow at his feet as well. Sheesh.

Of course, if Burnside had predicted the Wings would sweep and win each game by 10 goals, there'd be a post about how smart he is

I have a hard time believing that no one in the Ilitch organization thought up the idea and it was decided internally not to go for it. If the Tigers can leave Tiger Stadium, the Wings can leave JLA. Personally, I don't think of JLA at the same level as Maple Leaf Gardens, Boston Gardens, etc. That was Olympia which unfortunately I never got to go to. I'd say JLA is more like the Astrodome. As far as cheap land, Tiger Stadium sure as hell isn't going to be cheap. And, Ilitch already owns a bunch of land in Foxtown. Despite what people think, it really wouldn't add to the congestion. There's a very small window of time where the Wings, Tigers, and Lions could play at the same time. The only time its possible is Sundays in October if the Tigers make the playoffs.

First off, I disagree with you completely that the Joe is in a good spot. You're surrounded by fences, the river, and the Lodge. A location like Comerica/Ford Field where you can actually put other businesses around the arena would be much better. I don't see either of those happening. Illitch doesn't own the Tiger Stadium land and he probably wouldn't be able to get it at a decent price. Meanwhile, he has plenty of other land he's bought up where an arena could go. Other than fan speculation, I've never read anything that the city is considering Tiger Stadium for a new arena or that the Illitch's have even proposed it. As for your second option, where is the car show going to go? Personally, I think a new arena is inevitable. So is a corporate name.

^^^ Bingo. The way this story is being portrayed shows the difference in how people view men's and women's sports. No way in hell this would ever happen in a NCAA baseball game. You play to win the game, Herm Edwards had it right.

You're emailing the NHL to complain about the refs? Good god, I thought I had too much time on my hands.

Better for this team to lose on or two heading to the finals?
BlakChamber replied to NHLrules?'s topic in General
Winning in 4 is obviously better than winning in 5, 6, or 7. But you can't expect four sweeps. The Red Wings really haven't faced any adversity in the 8 games leading up to last night. The trick is how you bounce back. -
I don't know what its like in Dallas right now, but I'm about 3 hours south of the Big D, and its been really humid here lately. My local ice rink has the same problem when its really humid out.

I watch the finals when they're on and I went to the finals with some buddies in 2003 and 2005. Had a lot of fun both times. Since MSU isn't varsity anymore, I don't really have a favorite school. Anybody but Duke.

Sounds like Dick Rod might not be a Michigan Man® Has anyone consulted Mike Hart? Last I heard, he was the final arbitrator on who is and is not a Michigan Man®. Poor Jim Harbaugh, got stripped of his title for speaking the truth.
