Yeah, everything I've read involving Tex also involves Miller and/or Maybin. DD has already said Maybin is untouchable during the Soriano talks last year. I don't want the Tigers to give up the farm for Tex, and I don't tihnk the would, but they at least need to explore the option.

I'm meh about Casey at first. I think he could definitely be upgraded, but first base isn't an issue right now. Personally, I'd like to see the Tigers at least inquire about Mark Texeria. As far as Miller, I don't want to see him in the pen. He'd be far better off getting his starts in AA. Leave him in Erie for the rest of the year (unless Bondo or Verlander goes down) and bring him up next year after Kenny's contract is up. Imagine having Bonder, Verlander, and Miller as your top three starters...

^^^ Where did Mike Maroth go? And I think Ledezma is staying the pen, since he's one of the few lefty's they have.

Nice article on an AA pitching prospect not named Miller. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_det

The gernade is what makes it.

I read somewhere that the Tigs and Indians might be interested in Eric Gagne.

I think it's pretty safe to say: A: There will be a new arena. And; B: it's going to have a corporate name. The sooner people get used to those ideas, the easier it will be for everyone when it happens. And if the Tigers can leave Tiger Stadium, the Wings can easily leave The Joe.

That happens. You eventually reach a plateau. Keep at it, and you'll continue to lose weight, but it won't be nearly as quickly. Today I had one of the secretaries comment that she could tell I was losing weight. Not bad, considering I spent most of last weekend drinking and eating bad food. Gotta get back to the gym.

Cleveland worries me quite a bit. I was at the game Sunday, nice to see a sweep of the Cards, even if it was a few months too late.

I just "obtained" the complete discography of The Black Crowes. Right now I'm listening to Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes do "Hey Hey What Can I Do."

I loved that quote from Leyland. Good game last night to bounce back.

You could probably buy a house in Detroit for 80K But you sure as hell wouldn't want to live there.

I agree with everyone who said Bertuzzi. I think he really picked his game up during games 5 and 6 against the Sharks. He just needs to keep it up.
-
If the prices were the same, I'd take Smyth with no second thoughts. But depending on Bert's price, I think he could be a good fit in Detroit. He's really picked it up the last couple games. If he's healthy and the price is right, Detroit could be a good fit for him.

With MSU winning this year, good call Miller time, GO GREEN; we could have the NHL and the NCAA hockey champs form the same state, that would be pretty cool. It's just too early to tell with the Tigers. They're off to a great start, but there's still 129 games to go. Anything can happen.

You're right, I should have just deleted the topic. But someone would start one again claiming the East West Podunk times aren't picking the Wings, so what's the point.
-
Oh really? Comments like "Everyone is saying Selanne is a huge deal and there has been little talk of how important Z is to us." and "so I don't understand why the critics are all saying Anaheim is so favored over us and citing Selanne." sure make it look like another "why isn't everyone picking the Wings" topic, which quite frankly, there are more than enough of.
-
Do we really need yet another "the wings don't get any respect" topic?

I don't agree with him that you have no idea what you're talking about, but reading your posts I really don't think you get how bad the economy in Michigan is right now. And its not just a bad economic environment. It's a combination of a bad economic environment coupled with high ticket prices. If tickets were 20-30-40 bucks, people in shaky financial situations might go to a game just as a treat and a way to forgot about what's happening for a couple hours. But with ticket prices what they are, no one is going to blow that kind of money if they can't afford it.

^^^ Get ready for an education? Wow...you tell 'em, tough guy.
-
The new arena that will be coming in a few years isn't going to build itself for free. Plus he's spending a lot more on the Tigers now.
-
There's actually a thread aobut it every round, but yeah, what you said. 1: The economy. It may be good across the country, but in Michigan, and especially southeast Michigan the economy is bad. If your choice is saving money for if/when you get laid off, or going to the game, it's not a hard decision. 2: Look at the Wings ticket prices. 3: The Tigers are doing great. The Pistons are also in the playoffs with cheaper seats.

Dear god...not around round of "the wingz get no respect, melroze sux!!!!"

There is such a thing as being a gracious winner. Same here.

How exactly is a "scoring chance" defined?
