Could be. Maybe the answer doesn't have anything to do with the crowd, but more the fact the Wings are really good at home.

The Canadian fans are just mad because an afternoon game means less time for drinking

PRE-GAME 3: (4/17) Red Wings @ Flames - 10:00 PM EDT
BlakChamber replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Very true. Place nice with the other teams fans. Good natured trash talk is fine. Insults, flaming, etc is not. -
No no no no no...I do not want Drew Stanton anywhere near the Lions. I'm a big fan of Stanton and want him to have a long and successful NFL career. The surest way NOT to achieve that is to play QB for the Lions.

First off, whenever people complain about prices, they need to remember that running a professional sports team is not a philanthropic endevor. The Red Wings are not some non-profit charity organization. First and foremost, the Red Wings are a business. And just like any other business, the goal of the Red Wings is to make money. I don't see how anyone can call Ilitch a bad owner with a straight face. Yes, prices are high and a lot of times it does seem the Wings don't care about their fans. But at the same time, Ilitch has shown repeatedly that he is committed to not just building a profitable team, but a winning team at well. Sometimes at the expense of profit. I remember reading a while back, in the pre-cap days that many times the Wings organization wouldn't even start to make money until the playoffs. We WIngs fans should be glad we have an owner that wants to win, instead of one that just wants to bleed the team for every cent. Look at the Blackhawks. That being said, would it kill him to lower prices just a bit

It's supply and demand. According to the box score, Sunday's game was 98.4% full. Even with the salary cap, the demand is still there for tickets at playoff prices. Until there's blocks and blocks of unsold tickets at the joe, ticket prices aren't going down. And remember, there's (most likely) going to be a new arena in the works. Gotta pay for that somehow.

I did weights today at the gym for a first time in probably a month and a half. It wasn't too bad, but we'll see how sore I am tomorrow. The first wedding of the summer is in just over a month, I gotta pick it up.

Lang has been one of the few consistent play off scorer the last few years. He's not getting benched.

Eventually you have to get Bert back in the line up. I'd say it would be better to get him back in sooner rather than later.

Non-Michigan fans: How did you become a Wings fan?
BlakChamber replied to Chaldean's topic in General
I spent the first 25 years of my life in Michigan. I wasn't about to become a Stars fan just because I moved to Texas. -
Bingo.
-
I'd be willing to bet there were more "real people" who declined to buy playoff tickets than corporations.
-
I thought Hitch was very good in the studio as well.
-
True, but I'd guess its more likely that the majority of people who declined playoff tickets were individuals, instead of corporations. Why would anyone make fun of Preds fans. Everyone knows we don't have a rivalry with them... I think the cheapest ticket was $63 which was probably top of the upper bowl. Not sure what lower bowl seats are.
-
Not surprised. I'm sure game 2 will be a sellout after tonight though. And Wings_Rule_1010, I'm guessing there were plenty of corporate fans there, since they're a lot more likely to be able to afford the jacked up playoff prices.

Old time hockey baby. Nice to see the Wings fighting back rather than issuing a sternly worded threat about the power play at the press conference after. After watching tonight's game and thinking about it, it's really tough to find anything to complain about. The Wings had good shooting, passing, defense, checking, and goal tending. I mean, what went wrong?

Old time hockey baby!!!!

It's alright, shake it off Dom.

Datsyuk has got to be feeling good right now. Keep it up, Pavel.
