Looks like the refs didn't put the whistle in the pocket so far.

The problem with that is Sheffield. I had been hoping that in a year or so they'd make Maggs the DH and have a Grandy/Maybin/Clevlen outfield. But since we're stuck with Sheffield for another 2-3 years (can't remember) that forces Maggs in RF since he certainly can't be wasted on the bench.

The Wings do seem to ahve a lot of engery and are taking it to the Flames. I like that, hopefully they keep it up.

That's odd. You know, as much as we hockey fans rag on ESPN, Gary Thorne does a damn good job calling a hockey game. He had Melrose did the Frozen Four and I thought they did a great job.

I think we have Wings fans are lucky we've got Ken and Mickey. They do a good job and are just enough of homers without crossing the line and going overboard.

Yeah, I don't care for Perez or Mesa Monroe would never be "my Tiger" but we could do worse. He's pretty consistant and isn't going to break the bank. I just checked ESPN since I was wondering how much the Tigers were paying Monroe. Detroit is now 9th over all in payroll at around 95 mil. We're still 100 mil behind the Yanks. Salaries are funny. ARod makes more than the entire Devil Rays team.

I have read from several Sabres fans on other boards that Miller's stats are actually worse than what they should be since Buffalo's attacking style provides a lot of odd man rushes for the other team. No idea how true it is, but I've seen more than one Sabres fan say it.

You'd care if you were one of the many people in the Detroit area who go into work every day not knowing how much longer they'll keep their job.

Maybe people are banking on waiting for the later rounds as well. It can get extremely expensive to go to all the games. I know someone who had 4 season tickets to the Hurricanes and went to all the games when they won the Cup. I think they spent close to 10 grand when it as all over with.

There's always the chance, but I'm not going to go out on a limb and predict it. I just don't see it happening for either team.

One possible reason is that people don't want to spend the money. The MI economy sucks, especially in southeast Michigan. With raised prices for the playoffs, plus factoring in parking, gas, etc, going to a playoff game isn't cheap. Plus there's probably worries of another first round exit.

Seeing the Avs miss the playoffs makes me a happy panda. Don't count them out though. They've got a decent young time and a good goalie to build around. They'll be back.
