Pretty sure that Hockey Town Cafe isn't in Austin Don't know where to watch a game in Austin, sorry. I'll probably just end up watching the games at home here. I think Versus has quite a few of the opening round games.

Yeah, not taking anything at all away from Abdelkader, but I thought Lerg should have been Most Oustanding Player. What a great game as well, very entertaining.

Nashville is our best rival, sadly. Our rivalry with the Avs is dead. We don't play the Leafs (or any eastern team) enough. The Blackhawks and Blues are too one sided to be a rival. The Preds are the default rival.

Here's some tips for everyone that I've picked up from my sister (a personal trainer) and the trainer I've worked with at the gym. -Do a mix of cardio and weights. Weight lifting helps burn fat faster, I think it helps increase your metabolism. -Instead of 3 big meals, eat smaller meals more often. When you just eat breakfast lunch and dinner, your tend to eat more and your body stores the extra calories as fat, since it doesn't know when it's going to get fed next. By spacing out smaller meals, you keep your metabolism up, and you eat smaller portions since you're not as hungry. -Don't do the same excercises every day. I alternate between weights and cardio each day, and take a day off. This gives your muscles a chance to recover and rebuild. -Drink lots of water. Pop and alcohol are just empty calories. Find someone to work out with. It's a lot easier to keep at it if you have someone else to motivate you. That's about all I have for now, I thought I knew more, maybe I'll remember more later.

Preds in 7. Thornton is going to pull his post-season vanishing act.

I can certainly understand why people don't like the shootout. What I don't understand is how people can prefer a tie.

Yes, Abdelkader had the game winning goal and was named Most Outstanding Player. Personally, I thought Jeff Lerg should have been named MOP. Abdelkader finished third in scoring for MSU, with 15 goals and 18 assists in 38 games.

Haven't people been saying this very same thing about the Wings for years now? Trade away too many draft picks, will be screwed once their older stars leave, yada yada yada.

I got the impression that Legionnaire11 started this thread with the serious intent that people who wanted to lose weight/get in shape could find something of a support group to keep each other motivatived and a place to swap ideas. If you'd like to have a discussion about topics such as how you're too skinny, weight gain via cannibalism, the pros and cons of different beer, the McDonalds diet, or basically any of nonsense that has been the last 20 posts or so that I deleted, please take it to PM.

It will be interesting to see how Billy G does at Kentucky. He had the luxury at A&M of no one really caring about the program other than this year.

Law school is so bad for you. And, weddings are an incentive to get in shape. I have one on May 19th, where an ex-girlfriend is going to be there. So, I'd like to make sure I'm looking my best.

The stage is set, Michigan State and Boston College. This is going to be a tough one, BC is the hottest team in college hockey.

Gametime in a few! Looks like I'll watch the first period at the office then quick run home.

From a buisness perspective, why would you want to limit season ticket holders? It's money in the bank whether they show up for the game or not. And since the NHL is driven so much by ticket revenue, having that money from season ticket holders is pretty important. And trust me, there's not going to be a 30,000 seat arena.

That wasn't so much funny as it was unfunny.

Another article from the Detroit News had another longer article today about the potential new site. And, get ready for a corporate name. Anyone who thought it wasn't going to happen was just deluding themselves anyway.

Sign me up as well, I need to get in shape. I'm only 5'8" but right now I weigh about 185. Back in college I only weighed about 150, thanks to walking everywhere and playing on the lacrosse team and intramural hockey. But, during law school all I did was either sit on my ass at the library or the bar, so I put on quite a few pounds. At one point I hit 195 but I've been going to the gym 6 days a week and eating better so I've been losing weight. I'd still like to get back down to 150-160.

Not a bad idea, but baseball and football stadiums hold far more people. Ford Field seats 65,000 and Comerica seats roughly 41,000. I don't think it's a security issue.

A sellout at The Joe is 20,066 people. Does anyone know what percentage of season tickets are held by corporations and what percentage are held by "normal" people? I know it's popular to bash the corporate ticket holders, I've always wondered how many there actually are. Another question to throw out, that I don't know the answer to. How come teams like the Habs, Leafs, Wild, etc that all have fairly new arenas and that routinely sell out, didn't build larger arenas? Both the ACC and Xcel seat less than 20,000. There must be some reason that teams don't want to go any bigger than 21,000 people. Possibly because you'd have to build another level up and it would be pretty crappy to watch a game from that high up?

If you look closely, it says which is the Wings' bench.
-
40,000 people? A new arena, and lower ticket prices? Not a chance. We've all seen the empty seats at The Joe this year. The only reason the Wings are keeping their sell out streak in tact is because the vast majority of the seats belong to season ticket holders and are already sold before the season starts. And, since a new arena is going to cost money, chances are the ticket prices would go up, not down. Plus, given the way the Michigan economy is going, and especially the southeastern Michigan economy is going, are there really enough people to fill 40,000 seats for 42 games. IMO, there's a better chance for me to beome a UM fan than there is for a new Wings arena to have more than 25,000 seats.
-
1: Hard to say, considering a new arena hasn't even been announced yet. 2: See above. I couldn't imagine a new arena being any bigger than 21-22 thousand people, tops. I believe Montreal has the largest arena in the league with over 21K.
-
Doh! It's fixed now. Carry on. They have to keep The Joe for a couple more years away since the lease isn't up until 2009 (I think) and it takes time to build a new arena.

I was hanging out on Cass for the game. Kinda pissed I couldn't get tickets, but oh well. Basically, two bad innings ruined an otherwise decent game for the Tigers. Once Bonderman got settled down he pitched pretty well. I'm so happy that baseball is back!
