Nope. From wikipedia Also during that season, a very unusual goal celebration developed in Miami. On the night of the Panthers' '95-'96 home opener, a rat scurried across the Florida locker room. Mellanby reacted by "one-timing" the rat against the wall, killing it [1]. That night he scored two goals, which Vanbiesbrouck quipped was "a rat trick". Two nights later, as the story found its way into the world, a few fans threw rubber rats on the ice in celebration of a goal. The rubber rat count went from 16 for the third home game to over 2,000 during the playoffs.

Did you miss the part where it was stated that the catfish started before the Fischer game?

Let me guess. You've met a handful of ******* Preds fans, so therefore the entire fanbase thinks they're better than everyone. Whatever, kid. Go back to arguing that police in the US should drive BMWs.
-
Because most Preds fans I've ever met don't think they're better than everyone. Preds fans generally talk a lot of smack about the Red Wings because they know that if they want to be top dog in the west, they're going to have to start by beating the Red Wings. If you a fan of another team, and you read this board, you couldn't to any conclusion other than Wings fans are also arrogant, and if you read a lot of trade proposals here, you'd have to conclude we're stupid as well.
-
Yikes...I guess I didn't realize he had been out that long. This doesn't bode well for the playoffs.
-
First off, if any fan base has the market cornered in arrogance, it's the Leafs. Although I'd put the Wings up there. Have you read this thread? "How dare those lowly Predators fans copy us? Why, they should lose every game to us and be thankful they had the privilege of playing the Red Wings." Give me a break.

By winning their conference. By winning their conference By winning their conference By having wins against Oregon, UVA, USC, UCLA, and Washington State. Compare that to Michigan who's best wins are Indiana and MSU. And UM has no good road wins.

I like how on one hand we have a lot of people on the boards who claim Nashville isn't a real rival and they don't really care about the Preds. Then at the same time, it seems every little thing about the Preds, from the catfish to their announcers to their message board is getting a thread at LGW these days. So, which is it? And Drake is right on about stereotypes. I've been saying that for a while now. If Nashville, or any other team had threads saiyng Wings fans are nothing but crackhead gangbangers who live in the murder capital of the country, aka America's Beruit, I know there's a lot of people here who would get pissed off.

Good for Pittsburgh. Although I will admit, I wanted them to come to Houston.
-
Take off the yellow and blue glasses. But then again, your analysis of Florida and Michigan's comparitive football seasons said that beating Central was equal to beating Tennessee, so forgive me if I think you're a little biased.

I think he was a teammate of Lindstrom and Federov.

I actually like Texas A&M coming out of that region. They've got great defense and one of the best point guards in the country. Have you Michigan fans filled out your NIT bracket yet?

Here's a clip of what happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGYZ2tI_1zo Makes me wish Farnsworth was still on the team. You know he would have body slammed someone.

Great job by the Spartans to sweep UNO. Glad to see the old Spartan team is back, not the one that lost to Western and BG. With the sweep, MSU moves into a tie for 8th in the PWR with North Dakota and scUM. Miami dropped to 14, they could be left out of the NCAA's, depending on what else happens. Nice job by Lake State too.

Cool picture. Those frozen moments shots are pretty nice.

Spartans take the first game, 4-2. It was 2-2 until 59 seconds left when Jim McKenzie scored the go ahead goal. Brian Lerg scored the empty netter 30 seconds later to seal the deal.
-
Should be some good games tonight. It bothered me that Brian Lerg never even got any Hobey consideration. I wouldn't call him the front runner, but I thought his name should have at least been mentioned.
-
Too bad they don't have a QB to for an aerial assault offense.
-
Yeah, it was a sad day in weasel land when John L was given his walking papers. What's even worse is, he could have had 2 wins against UM as well. A healthy Drew Stanton in 2004 and a kicking game in 2005 probably would have beaten the Wolverines.
-
I remember watching that game as well. Good times
-
I love seeing Duke lose. And I really don't want to see scUM fire Tommy Turtleneck. They need to give him a 10 year contract extension.
-
I've been to a Pred/Wings game wearing a Wings jersey and didn't have a single problem.

That attitude is shared among far too many hockey fans, especially fans of either Canadian teams or established American teams, such as the Wings. And it pisses me off. They ***** and moan that hockey isn't popular in the US, that ESPN and the rest of the media ignores hockey. But at the same time, they want to limit the NHL to Canada, the northeast and the upper midwest. You can't have it both ways.
-
If you read a lot of the proposed trade offers on this site, you'd be forced to conclude that Red Wings fans are a bunch of morons. Pray tell, what are the hockey cities in the US? I'd say Minneapolis-St Paul, Detroit, and Boston are the only US cities you could call hockey cities. You've got other cities have strong followings, the NY teams do well, Philly maybe. But I wouldn't consider them a hockey city. And honestly, If the the Wings had to compete with a winning Tigers and Lions team, I think the Wings would fall to the number 3 team in the city. Boy, 3 cities out of the entire country. Damn Nashville for not being able to be a hockey city.

My friends and I usually hit the Anchor Bar on Fort St after the game for some beverages. It's a couple blocks from The Joe. Slows BBQ over by Tiger Stadium is damn good too, for being BBQ north of the mason-dixon line. It can get crowded though. Otherwise, hit Greektown and if you like to gamble, the casnios.
