UM and MSU both win their opening Big Ten Tourny games. UM gets a rematch against the Buckeyes and MSU takes on Wisconsin.

Good news, looks like Bonderman is finally getting a changeup. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...S0104/703080322

True, but even then. If the Wings give him 5.5 million or so and he has another bad playoff season, that doesn't make him easy to trade.
-
He's a UFA after the season and the trading deadline is passed. Trading him isn't an option.
-
Exactly. If Pavel finally has the post season we all think (and hope) he's capable of having, he'll probably price himself out of Detroit.

First you say that you're all for attracting new fans, than you say you either like hockey or you don't. As if there's some hockey gene that you're born with that makes you like it. That doesn't make much sense. If you want to get new fans, you need to give people something to cheer for. You can't just expect people in places like Florida or Tenneesee to start cheering for a Canadian team or an O6 team. Plus, if you want new fans, you have to go where the people are. More and more people are moving to the south and the southwest. So why not put teams where they are. As far as cities earning the right to have a team, how do you earn a team? If the NHL is expanding and cities want a team, that city submits a proposal to the NHL explaining why they're the best and what they have to offer. The NHL then decides where to put a team. It's not like the NHL just called up Nashville and said "build an arena, you're getting a hockey team whether you like it or not."

Depends on what he was convicted for And HoH is right on.

How? I don't have to respect the guy to want to see him do well on the Wings. I never said I enjoyed having him on the team, but since he is, I'm not going to hope the guy does poorly.

I saw this link yesterday and had just assumed they were playing roller hockey. Very cool it was on ice.

The Pens need to aggressively come to Houston.

By that logic, the Blackhawks and Bruins shouldn't have a team. KC doesn't support their baseball team because, like the Blackhawks and Bruins, the ownership of the Royals doesn't seem to care about winning. On the flipside, you could say that they should go to KC, look how well they support the Chiefs. I think given the recent gambling scandal in the NHL, Vegas is going to be a no go.

I agree. The way this get's rationalized blows my mind. I'll cheer for Bertuzzi since I want him to help the Red Wings win the Cup. But I don't have much respect for the guy.

I've met McCarty, Larionov, and Bowman at autograph signings, that's it. McCarty seemed nice, didn't say much but did shake my hand. My buddy asked Larionov for a good wine, and he said "mine." Don't think Bowman said anything.

1: Overpayment is a relative term in a case like this. 2: I have no idea whether he'll be healthy or not. I'm not saying he will be. All I'm saying (and other people have said) is that it doesn't matter whether or not Forsberg played last night. The Preds just want him healthy for the playoffs. If he's hurt now, it could be they're not going to play him so he'll be better for the playoffs.

Datsyuk looking good w/out Zetterberg so far

You're also missing the point in 2 ways. 1: It wasn't that much of an overpayment for the Preds since they had the resources to spare. 2: As everyone else said, he was picked up for the playoffs. Whether he plays tonight is not relevant.

Not contributing anything is not a good habit to pick up. Just so you know

Thank you for contributing absolutely nothing to the thread I've never understood why some Detroit fans think they have any room to rip on another city or state. I love Detroit and I know it has made progress, but it was called the Beruit of America. That's not a good thing. Michigan has a third world economy and horrible weather. Are we really in any position to make fun of another city/state?

I don't see any point in rushing Miller to the bigs. The Tigers finally have the luxery of A) having good prospects and B) having a good enough club at the big league level where they can develop the prospects. Start Miller in Lakeland, move him up to Eire or Toledo depending on how the season goes, and give him a September call up in needed.

SI.com - Michael Farber - Beating the Red Wings
BlakChamber replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
As I've mentioned before, my girlfriend is from Tennessee and a Preds fans. As she explained to me several years ago, when we got talking about hockey. Preds (and their fans) know that if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man. Cbus, St. Louis, and Chicago aren't exactly the team you want to set your sights on if you want to win a division. -
I was almost going to be at this game. It didn't quite work out though.

UM shows why it's good to be the home team, 33 free throw attempts to MSU's 15. Nothing like some home cooking. Of course, pretty much every home team in the Big 10 gets it. Really though, I'm actually not too bitter. Drew was sick. Harris played absolutely out of his mind, draining those threes from long range. MSU is still going to make the tournament. I actually hope UM beats OSU, that will keep the turtleneck around for a few more years BTW, UM had no attractive girls in their student section. And they call MSU the cow college?

I think tigerscentral.net has a forum, not positive though.
