If the Tigers end up playing the Mets, Leyland might but Andrew Miller on the roster. Supposedly the big guns on the Mets don't fare so well against lefties. Presumably, Miller would take the place of Miner.

Rob Parker, and Drew Sharp are two of the worst sportswriters I've ever read. I can't stand Mitch Albom either, but for different reasons.
-
First pitch I would go with someone from the 84 or 68 Tigers. I think Tramm would be nice. Let him know that he's still a Tiger and still appreciate by the team and by the city. As far as the National Anthem, there's so many great choices. Maybe Aretha Franklin for one game and Bob Seger for another. That way you've got Motown, and rock n roll.

What's the point? He'd just turn out to be a bust.

What an amazing season this has been. There's really nothing to add. That bomb by Maggs was incredible. The Tigers in the World Series. Figures it happens the year I decide to move out of Michigan

How good was Kenny Rogers? Just ask Milton Bradley, the only man on the A's who's been able to hit so far. "I normally don't give pitchers any credit; I get myself out. But he was outstanding," Oakland right fielder Milton Bradley said of Rogers. "You can't pitch better than that. I don't want to disrespect anybody, but I almost feel like going over [to the Tigers' clubhouse] and high-fiving him myself. He was that good."

First Spartan game of the season. Abdelkader had a goal and an assist. His line was responsible for 3 out of 4 goals for MSU. He also played some good defense, and had a very nice check that sent a Western player spinning.

Unreal...this has just been unreal

Nice bomb by Monroe there!

I like what I'm seeing so far from both Kenny and the Tigers hitters. They're doing a good job working the count. Harden's already thrown 47 pitches through 2 innings.

0-0 tie. The game would be called when the field collapsed on the weight of all the suckiness from the two teams.

That is going to be freaking awesome! I do like Todd Jones. It's my heart rate that doesn't.
-
He certainly does keep it exciting, that's an understatement. I was at P.T.'s watching the game (there was no one there, I was amazed) and there were a couple guys saying, "it's Todd Jones, he just has to keep it interesting."
-
Nope.

I think Shelton's failure to regain his spring form, or even something close to his spring form when he was recalled from AAA lead to him not being on the postseason roster.
-
On TV tonight they said it was a minor calf tear.
-
That's what I said. The first time he came to bat my buddy and I looked at each other and said, what the hell is he doing playing? I swear, Todd Jones is going to give me a heart attack. 2 outs, then he proceeds to load the bases for Frank Thomas? I can't handle that!

Word of warning, Perez is going to be starting at short tonight with Guillen at first. I'd much rather have Infante or Santiago in the lineup than Perez. Hell, you could even put Pudge at first and Wilson behind the plate. I don't believe the A's are a team that runs much.

That was just some flat out great pitching right there, probably my favorite part of the game last night. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, and he strikes out the side. Just awesome. Tonight should be good, Verlander has pitched well against Oakland this year. If I was in charge of MLB though, I'd decree nothing later than a 7:00 pm start time. I was exhausted by the 9th. Granted, drinking 3 large beers didn't help. But really, how does MLB expect to attract and keep young fans, when the game goes way past their bedtime? And BRTD, love the new sig.

Tigers win!!!
-
It wouldn't surprise me if Verlander starts. Despite his record against Oakland this year, he always pitched well against them. Tomorrow can't come soon enough!

I turned on Sportscenter this morning, and of course the story isn't about Bonderman's amazing game, or the Tigers first playoff series victory since 84, it's about (what else) ARod and Torre. Figures. What an amazing game. On Friday, I had two different people offer me a ticket to the game, since I'm back in MI right now. I had to go to a wedding though. Friend's at the game were texting me updates and every so often the DJ would announce the score, and everyone at the reception would start cheering. I absolutely loved seeing the players celebrating with the fans. It's so nice to see them acknowledge a fanbase that has been longing for the Tigers to be good again

I'm guessing Stanton was just trying to get his team fired up. Obviously didn't work. The Tigers winning makes up for the Spartans losing.

What Do the Wings & Yankees Have in Common?
BlakChamber replied to livediehockey80's topic in Other Sports
Let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. I like the Tigers chances today, but that still is a Yankees lineup that is one of the best in the history of the game. Like Yogi said, it an't over til its over. -
Rogers was just lights out last night. He was great to watch on the mound, you could tell how badly he wanted to win that game. And hearing Ernie call a couple innings, that sure took me back to being a kid
