This thread needs some life. This series against the Twins is huge. The Tigs need to at least split the series to keep the Twins from gaining ground. Good start last night. Verlander looked pretty sharp, although I thought he went about one inning too many. The bats looked pretty good too. Sunday's match is Bonderman v. Santana. That's going to be great.

Aren't you a Weasel fan too, BRTD? They sure scheduled some powerhouses for non-conference games. The thought of going up against Central, Vanderbilt, and Ball State (all at the big house) is enough to keep Lloyd Carr up at night crying in fear

I was figuring Clevlen will be back in September. Probably Shelton as well, although who knows if he'll get any playing time. I can't wait to see Miller. Are any of the Yankees games on ESPN?

Look at the guy. Its pretty obvious he's not that active.
  13. Post number 6 and I'm already repeating myself. Major League Baseball is primarily responsible for playoff ticket prices. Each team can set their own, but it must be within the guidelines set out by the league. And guess what, the league mandates that teams raise ticket prices. And besides, its supply and demand, econ 101. When demand increases, so do the prices.
  14. No way in hell would that happen at Comerica. I'm going to be back in Michigan around with the ALDS should be going on, and I'll be doing everything I can to go to a game.
  15. Major League Baseball is more to blame than Ilitch. The Commissioners office sets "guidelines" for the teams postseason prices.

The so-called Red Sox nation has without a doubt become the most annoying group of sports fans in the last few years. While I hate the Yankees, I had some shadenfruede watching the Red Sox get swept at Fenway. Oh well, this should get rid of the bandwagoneers, they're usually the most annoying anyway. Great win by the Tigers tonight. Verlander looked pretty good, and that was a bomb by Monroe!!

Tough loss today. I really didn't even think Bonderman looked that bad out there. The Rangers hitters just looked better. Add in a few defensive errors, and that's going to equal a loss. Oh well. I was just happy that I got to watch a Tigs game.

Damn...I really wish I watched Baseball Tonight It looks like Polanco will be out 4-6 weeks. Could have been worse. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...S0104/608180349 The best part of the FSN SW broadcast is when they were talking about Zumaya. One of them made the comment, "You're almost disappointed when he *only* throws 101. You really want to see him hit 102 or 103."

^^^ There can be good ones every now and then. Nolan Ryan beating up Robin Ventura comes to mind. Same with Farnsworth bodyslamming someone from KC last year. I'm watching the FSN Southwest feed of the game tonight. The Rangers announcers (who are incredibly boring) were talking about what a great baseball town Detroit is, and how the fans have just been waiting to have something to cheer for. The Houston broadcasters said the same thing a while back. Its nice to see Detroit being realized as a great baseball town

Verlander didn't have his best stuff tonight. I'm surprised they kept him in after the 5th. He wasn't looking good and his pitch count was fairly high for 5 innings. How about the bomb hit by Clevlen though??? That ball is probably still going.

That's going to hurt. On a free-swinging team, he's got the least amount of strike outs. And he's got a good glove. This sucks

Well, GVSU is my other favorite team, since I went there for undergrad. If not, I'll go with Texas A&M, since I live down in Aggieland now. I promise you, there is NOTHING like seeing a game at A&M. Its insane.

Tough break losing the series. Still, its the first series the Tigers have lost since the A's over the 4th of July.
