I would be in favor of Texas too, since it would make it a lot easier for me to see MSU play. Texas in the Big 10 would be huge, but I couldn't see it happening. The travel budget alone would be enough for schools not to want them in. Pitt would be my second choice as well, but Rutgers adds a new state and a new TV market. You do have to think about the almighty dollar. As far as not wanting a UM/OSU rematch in a Big 10 Championship game, there's a very easy solution for that. Put the two schools in the same division. I took a quick look at the ACC, there may be some logic behind the way their divisions are split up, but it doesn't appear that geography is it.

Losing Suton and Walton is going to hurt MSU more than people realize. Walton was one of the best defenders the Big 10 and the country, that's tough to replace. We saw what happened to MSU early in the season when Suton was out. One of the big men is going to have to step up next year. A year of experience under everyone's belt is going to help though. I'd put MSU in the 4 - 7 range for next year. Having Harris and Sims not go to the NBA is a huge boost for UM and having everyone back with another year experience in Beileins system is going to help as well. Unfortunately for UM, the Big 10 is going to be good enough where good teams are going to end up with losses. UM absolutely deserves to start the season ranked, but not in the top 10. I'd say the 15 - 20 range is the appropriate spot for them.

You're right. No drama in baseball. A play at the plate on a throw from right field, boring as hell. Walk off homer? Nope, no drama there. Bases loaded, bottom of the 9th, yawn. Puts me to sleep. As long as Notre Dame has the NBC deal in place, they'll never join the Big 10. But you're absolutely right, nothing good comes from playing I-AA teams. If you win its BFD. You were supposed to win. If you lose. Well, we know what happens when you lose. Part of the reason I'm annoyed that MSU is playing Montana State to open the season in the fall. Sure, the MSU v. MSU matchup is nice and all, but there had to be someone better they could have played. Hell, I'd rather schedule a 3rd MAC school than play a I-AA school.

If I recall, when CJ was picked, people were pretty pleased, even it was another WR. It was clear that Rogers and Fat Mike Williams weren't going to cut it, so taking Johnson was a good pick.
