The Wild Card is the team with the best record, that doesn't win their division. If the playoffs were to start today, the Yankees, Tigers, and A's would be in, since they'd each win their division. The White Sox would be the Wild Card team, since, as I said, they have the best record of the teams that didn't win the division. Got it?

Yeah, that's true. But he's throw 102 and 103 on the road too. If I remember correctly, Nolan Ryan has the Guiness record at 101. I wonder how Zumaya would do if they put him in front of the Guiness people with a radar gun.

Yeah, there were two different animations. If the Tigers won, they'd use the one Kass has as his/her avatar. If the Tigers lost, the Tiger would be beat up and would just wimper. Lou, the first round is still best of 5. And I'm in agreement with everyone else that I would much prefer to play the AL west winner first round. I found this on Wikipedia. I think they're going to go with the 6 man when Maroth gets back. I actually won't be surprised if they use Tata or Colon for a spot start here and there during August to give everyone an extra day off.

According to 1270 am, the last Tigers player to hit the cycle on the road was George Kell in 1950. Nice job there, Carlos! And congrats to Verlander, first 14 game winner in the majors.

I am incredibly surprised Soriano didn't get moved. I wonder if the Nats asking price was too high.

I won't be back in Michigan until October, so I figure I'm going to start selling plasma, and putting the money in a Tigers Playoff Ticket fund for when I'm home

I know what you mean. The year I move out of Michigan is the year the Tigers finally start to win Not that I'm angry about them winning...I just wish I could go to some games. I went to opening day, but that seems like a long time ago.

That's Miner and Thames plus taking a huge contract extension. Abreu has a no-trade clause too.

With the exception of those 2 homers, Bondo is looking good tonight. Crede is a Tiger killer.

According to the Freep the last time the Tigs had the starting pitcher and catcher was McClain and Freehan. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../607110399/1050 In 1985 Morris was the starter and Parrish was voted starter, but according to the Baseball Almanac, he was injured. So, I don't know if he played or not. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/asgbox/yr1985as.shtml

If I'm not mistaken, he's the first Tiger to start the All Star game since Jack Morris in 84. Good job Kenny, and good job DD brining him here

Kenny wins #11 and the Tigs avoid getting swept for the first time since the opening series against the Pale Hose back in April.

I don't know much about Sean Casey really, other than that he's supposed to be a nice guy. But, I could go with that trade. I did a little research on Casey, he looks like he might be a good fit in Detroit. He's cut down on his strikeouts the last few years. For some reason I thought he hit more homers, but either way, I wouldn't object to seeing him in the D.

So I'm flipping channels tonight and happen to catch a special Baseball Tonight, since whatever game they're showing was on a rain delay, and they're talking about the Braves. Buccigross mentions Smoltz, and Steve Phillips again mentions trading trading Smoltz to Detroit for Zumaya Thank God for ESPN, always on top of the spots news, when DD has has said there's pretty much no way in hell he's trading Zumaya.
