lots of times the 1st pick turns out to be a bust look no further than Patrik Stefan Sidney Crosby, Alexander Oveckin, Rick Nash, Ilya Kovalchuk, Vincent Lecavalier, Joe Thornton, Ed Jovanovski, Mats Sundin, Mike Modano, Mario Lemieux, etc etc. Lots of busts there. With the Spartans loss to Maine on Sunday, their season is over. Abdelkader ended up with 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 44 games as a freshman. That put him 9th on the team in scoring and 2nd for freshmen. He was tied for 3rd on the team with 7 PPGs.

The Spartans did seem to beat themselves. Like I said in my first post here, there's two things Izzo stresses. Defense and rebounding. I didn't think the Spartans did well at either tonight.

Bingo. Monmouth and Hampton > Michigan. I'm pissed about this game. There's no excuses. We didn't get screwed by the refs or anything. I thought there were a few questionable calls here and there, but against both teams and nothing that affected the outcome. We got beat by a team that played hard. Simple as that.

Way to rationalize I don't think it was just losing to Minnesota, the Wolverines have gone 3-7 since Feb. 1st.

Either MSU got ranked too low, or Indiana got ranked too high. Both are 6 seeds.

I love March Madness, but I hate Dickie V. and Billy Packer. They're saying State could go as high as a 5 seed this year.

I've never liked the NCAA system of punishing the current team for things that happened with an older team. I realize that it often takes years to investigate and prove these type of allegations, and I realize you've got to hold someone responsible, but it still doesn't seem right. That being said, I don't have a better idea as to what to do.
