I'd take him. I mean, Tate Forcier is what, a buck 150 soaking wet? It looks like the kid has talent, but it also looks like it could be McGuffie all over again. PS: It needs to be college football season again. I'm already planning my trip back to EL for a game or two.

Nothing ground breaking, but not a bad article. I did like Cherry's comment, "Nobody gets up to get a beer during a fight."
-
You ever make it down here, let me know. I'll give you some homebrew Mrs. Chamber and I have talked about moving up to the Metroplex, but it won't be happening any time soon.

I was wondering the same thing as well. In my book, Heineken is one of the worst beers out there. And C-Dub, I'm a few hours south of you in Aggieland.

I tried Brooklyn Brown Ale today, it was pretty good. Hoppier than most brown ales you find, especially the English ones. I also tried a blonde ale that was my own recipe. It has a funky aftertaste and I can't figure out what's causing it. It's only been in the bottle for 2 weeks so it may just need more time to age.

I like Beilein, but if I was a Michigan fan I'd (shoot myself) be concerned for a few reasons. 1: I'm not convinced Beilein ball is a good style for the Big 10. Relying on the three ball and not drawing fouls? This is the conference of 50 free throw attempt games. You need to be able to go inside, especially if the three ball isn't falling. It's going to be like watching JLS football. When the three ball is falling, they'll put up some good wins, see Duke and UCLA. But if your shooters aren't hitting their shots, it can make for a long night. Sims and Harris are good, I was really impressed with Sims when I saw him play. But you need more than that. As a side note, is there any talk of either of them going pro? 2: How long will he stay? Let's say next season UM finishes in the top third of the Big 10 and makes it to the Sweet Sixteen. Other colleges are going to come calling. UM basketball isn't exactly a destination job. After their last coaching search, I'm not sure football is a destination job anymore, but that's just me being a dick Would UM pony up the cash to keep him if needed? 3: Trying to rebuild in a very good conference. Much like UM football has been for decades, MSU and Izzo are the big brother when it comes to basketball. Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio State have their programs established. Indiana is going to get recruits. It leaves Beilein fighting for the midwest scraps with Iowa, Minny, PSU, and NW. Now, he's going to steal some recruits from MSU, Purdue, etc. But unless you're a gumpy white guy who can shoot the three, UM isn't going to be the first choice for a lot of recruits. And even then, if you meet that description, you're better off at Wisconsin. Despite what the Detroit papers say, the fab five aren't relevant anymore. I think Beilein is a good coach and by all accounts he seems like a good guy. Even being a UM coach, I like the guy. God knows he's an improvement over Ellerbe and Tommy Turtleneck. I just wonder what the ceiling for UM basketball is these days.

Didn't get to watch the game today, but going by the statline it looked like Verlander had a much better game.

Yeah, those two are a tossup as well. I guess going into the season next year, I'd rank the Big 10 teams like this. Top teams. MSU, Purdue, Illinois. Tournament teams, but not the top. OSU, Wisconsin Will be competitive, but not in the top half yet. Michigan, Minnesota On the rise Indiana Tossup teams Penn State, Northwestern Getting worse Iowa

Pretty good game so far. I just discovered today that DirecTV has a free week of MLB Extra Innings. Wish I had known this at the start of the week.
-
Give Indiana 2 more years and they are going to be back in the upper third of the Big 10. The Big 10 as a whole is looking good, like Manny said, the only team I can really see taking a step back next year is Iowa.

That's pretty good. Nice job by the Hawk's marketing department.

that is too funny. I can't believe someone would pay money to have a custom Petway jersey, he would have been better off just lighting the money on fire. Of course Petway will live forever in song... My favorite is when he rhymes "hunter" with "hunter" I am so ******* pumped up for tonight, I actually thought about driving back to Michigan after the game on Saturday. I'm still thinking I should have. Maybe I should just head to the airport and see if I can catch a standby flight home.
-
That is a pretty good bet on your part really...now do you own the Petway jersey he (might) have to wear? Because that's pretty funny right there.

It looked like you burned to me...I don't know, maybe my monitor needs to be calibrated.

He's been a disgrace for a while now. Right now, I don't have anything to say except for this
-
I think he also said something along the lines of he doesn't like Izzo personally. And now that I think it about it, IIRC he didn't get fired for the Cousins incident, just suspended. It was the comments to Marinelli that got him fired.

How is all the training in the world going to make up for the biological differences between men and women? I could quit my job and spend the next training with the best hockey people I could, and at best I'd go from a below-average beer league player to an average beer league player. I know my physical limitations. I'm slow and my hand-eye coordination sucks. There's a reason I sit in an office instead of manual labor.

Considering it was Dantonio that cost Parker his job at the Detroit News, it's not too surprising he doesn't have nice things to say about MSU. Supposedly Valenti ripped him a new one on the Sportsinferno today. I'll have to listen to the podcast.
-
That's nothing compared to what Rob Parker did today. Gang Green is a pretty good blog, and they owned up and admitted their mistake. Jebus I can't wait until Saturday. If we get by UConn, I'm contemplating driving to Detroit.

As opposed to your zero (repeat ZERO) evidence to suggest a woman could compete in the NHL?
-
Two thoughts... 1: Sunscreen is your friend. 2: Your wife must really love you. I can only imagine what Mrs. Chamber would do if I posted pictures of her in a bikini.

When you say Vlad wasn't a big guy, he was still 5'11" and 176 pounds (per wikipedia). Zetterberg and Datsyuk are each around 5'11" and 195. Hudler is the shortest at 5'9" but he still tips the scales around 180 lbs. I have been unable to find an answer for the average height and weight of a NHL player, but my uneducated guess would be around 6'00" and 200 lbs. By comparison, the average male in the US is about 5'9" and 191. I feel good I'm below that in weight. For females it's about 5'4" and 161. Like I said, biology dictates the men are bigger, stronger, and faster. Looking at the USA hockey women's roster, the biggest player is 5'10" and 172 lbs. Without doing the math, it looks like the average size of the team is slightly larger than the average US female. I mean, we can play the what-if game if you want. Assuming you could find enough women that fit the description of an average NHL'er, and assuming you spent equal time training them to play hockey, could they compete in the NHL? I don't know, no body does. But when you look at men and women's sports competing head to head again (basketball, golf, hockey, etc) I really don't buy your argument that because Pronger, Chara, Lijia and Lindros are big men and they got hurt, that somehow smaller players are better suited. First off, even the smaller players in the NHL are larger than women hockey players. Second, big men play a rough game. Lots of hits, lots of banging and going into the boards. If you play that style of game, you're more prone to injuries. Look at Forsberg. He's not considered a big man (6'00" 210 lbs) but he played like he was much bigger. As a result, he's had a lot of injuries. Now I'm not saying any of the Wings you mentioned are soft, they'll dish out hits and go in the corners, but they don't necessarily play an extremely rough style. I'm not saying there's no way a woman could ever compete in a man's sport. But as of right now, they don't exactly have a good track record.

^^^ BRTD nailed with the basketball comparison. A team of college men would destroy the WNBA All Stars. The USA Women's hockey team warms up by playing junior league teams. The best female golfer in the world didn't do anything on the PGA. Men and women are built differently. It's biology. No amount of feel-good PC thinking is going to change that.

Both ended up dead. Which is what will happen to the Lions in the end.

We're only bitter in football. Two different sports here
