It's ok, little sister. Don't be bitter. Duke played in Charlotte in 94. Kansas played in KC in 88. Purdue played in Indy in 80. It happens.

We each get two brackets. I picked BU in one and ND in the other. So far my BU bracket is in the lead. Woo hoo

    Fate of the Joe

The person who owned the Boston Red Sox when Fenway Park was built, also owned the Fenway Realty Company... As far as your second point, you can also look at it this way. If a team is going to use public funding, by selling the naming rights it (in theory) would enable them take less public money. And also, the Yankees are worth about 1.2 billion. Da Bears about 945 million. The Red Sox are worth about 620 million. The Red Wings are worth about 303 million. All those teams are in a much better position (if the Bears and Sox were to build a new stadium) to not take money for naming rights.

According to this guy (can't tell how up to date this is), naming rights are worth between 15 and 195 million. If (more likely when) the Wings get a new arena, it will have a corporate name. We all better get used to the idea.

What a game today by Travis Walton, 18 points, a career high! It was definetely an ugly win today. But that's why I like this Spartan team. If someone isn't playing well, like Morgan, someone else always seems to step up.

Yeah, college basketball is a slimy world. The NCAA only seems to get involved if they absolutely have to. In Michigan's case, when you have the FBI involved, it pretty much makes it impossible to look the other way. Of course, every few years the Detroit media has no problem churning out of fluff stories on one of the dirtiest programs in NCAA hoops history. Or fun events like the Fab Five Reunion. At least you guys have a good coach now. Not that I want to see Michigan win or anything. But Beilein should make UM respectable and keep them out of trouble. Heck of a game by East Tennessee today. That's a textbook example of why you need to be able to hit your free throws.

You know, normally I get excited for March Madness. But now I've seen the light and think that college basketball needs to change. I mean, the whole excitement of the tournament and Cinderella teams is just pointless. I mean, who wants to see a school like George Mason in the Final Four. I only want to see the best teams, if some underdog gets in, it means we don't really get to see the best teams. I think the NCAA should adopt the BCS system for basketball and let the computers determine who the two best basketball teams in the country are and just let them play. It works so well for football, right?

    Playoff Plans!

It's not drinking alone, it's drinking with the lord If the Wings ended up playing Dallas, I'd try to make it up to the big d for a game. Otherwise, I'll just be watching from my couch.

Well, it looks like Detroit is on the move then. JLA is only 72 miles from MIS.

They get snow in KC and ice forms naturally. Isn't that the only real requirement for hockey?

I'd say that Pitt, UConn, and UNC have number 1 seeds locked up. The last is up for grabs. MSU has a very good shot at the last spot, but winning the BTT is probably going to be necessary. Michigan is in. Beating Purdue the other day sealed it. If they had lost, I would have said they'd need to win a game or two. But now I think they're in regardless.

    CBS Disrespects Hockey

So I'm having a lazy Saturday watching the USA/Canada game of the World Baseball Classic. If you didn't know, last Thursday team USA did the Top Ten list on Letterman via satellite. In between innings, ESPN showed a clip of the players doing the top ten. The topic was, top ten reasons to watch the WBC. And the number one reason, delivered by Derek Jeter, was: "What else are you going to watch, hockey?" :ranting: To me, this is completely unacceptable. Hockey players are the finest athletes on the planet, not to mention some of the nicest guys in the world. Look at baseball players, you sure as hell don't have to be an athlete to be able to hit a 95 mph fastball that arrives in less than half a second. I mean, baseball players spend more time scratching themselves than they do actually playing the game. That's right, I said game and not sport. I'm calling for a boycott of CBS, Late Night with David Letterman, and all of their major sponsors. They need to learn that us hockey fans are not going to take some blatant disrespect lying down! Who's with me?!

How's that yellow and blue kool-aide taste? In case anyone was wondering, Delvon Roe is a baaaaaad man. I can't wait to see how good he is in a couple years.
  24. Exactly. If the Wings had known Ozzie was going to have so many problems this year, it's probably a safe assumption that a goalie would have been the number one priority. Having no reason to expect that, Hossa and Conklin were the (excellent) off season signings.
