Doesn't matter, we still need some who will stick up for teammates. Are you worried about losing Brown to a suspension?
-
He cannot play offense, correct. He doesn't even play defense well. Everybody is a drain on the cap. He's got experience, is a leader, and can fight. For $450,000, I don't know what kind of top notch offensive or defensive talent that's available for salary minimum, but it's prolly not that good. Why do you assume that only offensive players are going to have an impact this year? Fighting will still be an important role in hockey. I would rather have the option than not.
-
I'm pretty sure he won't be out against the top lines. Do you know how this game even works? How do you know there isn't going to be as much fighting? Do you have a time machine? Just because it's a possibility doesn't mean s**t. Brad Brown is going to protect. He is good at protecting. When Yzerman gets hit with a cheapshot, who's gonna stand up for him? Our top line winger Shanahan? Ha. Wake up. Just because he's not a 5'6 120lbs fairy doesn't mean he's not effective at what he does. Duh. How many times do you want me to repeat it? WE DON'T NEED HIM FOR DEFENSE. WE DON't NEED HIM FOR DEFENSE. Let me know how many times you want me to repeat this.
-
Whats so hard to understand here? We don't need him to skate and play terrific defense. Thats why we have Lidstrom, Schneider, Kronwall, Fischer, and to a lesser extent Chelios. We need him to fight. He'll maybe get 5 minutes of ice time on a good night. His job isn't to handle some who skates.
-
Perfect player for our needs. You don't want to pay 3 million for a star to sit in the penalty box for 5-7 minutes a night.
-
I seriously doubt he'll do any better than Lidstrom or Schnieder. Personally I would rather see Kronwall and Lidstrom or Fischer and Schnieder. But you never know, he could prove helpful. Is there any chance this (if true) could be a GR signing to make up for Kronwall coming up to the big club?
-
The yotes are stupid for not signing him, Boucher sucks and they could easily get a 6th or 7th playoff seed with a decent goalie.
-
This is retarded. Weight has little to do with toughness. Yes, if a 200 pound guy is skating at me, I'll move. Doesn't mean he's gonna try. You assume because Delmore is a d-man he has toughness? Forsberg plays a very different game than Delmore. It would be like comparing Cujo to Delmore. There are lots of guys smaller than Delmore that have twice the testicles.
-
Holland's mindset is that he has 2 starting goalies, 1A and 1B. Cujo won't be back.
-
TSN's got him at 6'1 and 200 lbs. He has no physical game at all, but the one thing I do see that is okay is he has pretty good stats in the playoffs for the few times he made it. Plus he's not a fossil, so I guess we're kinda headed in the right direction. Personally I woulda liked to see some balls added to the D-core, but guess I'll keep on wishing.
-
He's the first foward who didn't make the list, or next in line I should say. If it were the top 53 prospects, he prolly woulda been on it. Anybody know if he'll be at prospects camp?
-
That's quite possible the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Let me guess, we'll trade Datsyuk for the 36 year old Federov? Fantastic. Then we should trade Zetterberg to free up room for Messier.
-
Yes. How could you not? If we expect Shanahan to do this, he'll be worn out by December. Draper? Great idea to have the Selke winner in the penalty box for 5 minutes.
-
They said that Liv had a hard time because his team refused to pick up NHLers. Wonder if Boucher left a bad taste in their mouths. Any news on the status of Howard's contract?
-
I doubt he'll make the big club, but he could easily put fans in the seats. A guy by the name of Big Snake that is big and a pain in the ass, could easily make fans not so bitter about losing McCarty. I would love to see him wear the winged wheel this season.
-
I don't know about Buffalo, but New Jersey can use some scoring help if Elias is out for the year with Hep C. Hows about Datsyuk for Voros and Ahonen? Voros we get a huge mean right winger and in Ahonen we get a capable net minder ready to take the next step. Trade Legace and a 3rd rounder to and pick up some scoring help.
-
Cool, thanks for the info. Sounds like he would be great with Maltby and help our grit situation, but not this season.
-
Hmmm... Nothing Shanahan probably couldn't help with. Sounds like a great risk to take. Leadership and maturity is something we have an abundance of.
-
That is fantastic. It's actually something to be excited about.
-
Wow, I'm actually suprised that the wings would invite someone like that to camp. I agree with everybody that he would sell TONS of jerseys with that name. Is he an Avery type of player?
-
God lets hope so.
-
There's a reason Hamrlik is still available, and word is he wants a lot of money, which we don''t have.
-
Because when 3 goalies are playing at once in net, it's harder to score! Plus the Fourth Period generally sucks, but have some good things from time to time.
-
Quintal could be an option. 6'3, 230 pounds. Berezin is small, but he's super fast. Not that we need speed as much a toughness, but who knows what Holland will do. All signs point to nothing until RFA's are signed.

Redwingscentral.com has a good article on this guy, who also seems like he was a pretty good pick, if he continues to work hard and shed his lazy label.
